  1. No problem to open my house, but cannot everyday lah! I will have to clean the house until I cry! Attached is also the backdrop I have used for my living room....lovely too, right?
  2. YIIIAKS!! GOT SERIAL KILLER in the NEIGHBORHOOD!!!!
  3. No need to rent lah, for those who have seen my house, you will know that you can in fact have ANY scenery that you want! I have the New York Manhatten night scene right in my living room! Wow! Nice!
  4. Re-worded my post.... Peace....
  5. Hi Blk79ers, Just sharing the night view from my MBR...it's so lovely could not resist showing it off....
  6. OK, I have checked the cabinets already, both are not exactly in line! The long side is a bit protruding whereas the short side is recessed, but I guess this is deliberate. In any case the "kerb" will be necessary if you like a continuos cabinet that "runs" from one side to another. Without the curb, there will be an unsightly break between the cabinets showing the original white tiles
  7. Hmmm...let me go home and check first. That reminds me...got to leave the office now!
  8. Here's the photo. Doing this will not be difficult at all and the joint line is not even noticeable!
  9. Hi Happy, I think it can be done cos I ever saw a neighbor did a solid top cabinet that is extraordinary huge to house the washing machine! For mine, I think the top is the same at 600mm at both sides. if I remember correctly, there was a box-up to cover up the corner and the solid top also flow over quite naturally. I will try to post a picture later
  10. Yes! I noted the other day that the water was quite foamy. At that time, I thought it was due to the shampoo as I was showering my boy, but even after the shampoo rinsed out, the water was still foamy!
  11. That's what we thought so too. The PE even gave the endorsement as per the picture, but HDB says cannot just hack a portion, must remove the whole wall and rebuild it again. That's why I suspect it was a case of HDB applying different standards
  12. Hi Chocofudge, We actually had a similar idea last time - just hack of part of the BR2 wall along the MBR walkway and build a wardrobe there. However, HDB had replied to say that we have to remove the whole wall and the supporting lintols, this meant that my MBR and BR2 door frames would have to go as well. We finally scrapped the plan as our renovation progress was already too advanced by the time of notification to have any major hacking done. In the end we settled for a L-shape wardrobe to be built in BR2 (study) instead without any hacking. But because we saved some money on the hacking and reconstruction, we asked for better quality wardrobe to be built to our specification in BR2 instead - as a form of consolation some what. Do let me know if HDB approves of your hacking approval. it seems like many neighbors got their approval easily. I really like to know if HDB had been fair to me
  13. you are most welcome! mine comes without wooden backing as they are mounted directly on the wall. thanks for your nice comments about my house, just give me a call if u like to pop by!
  14. I have clear mirrors installed both at the dining area and the balcony area. Total cost is $600, if it is just the dining area I suppose it should be just around $400 to $500. The mirrors are among the best decisions ever made for my home reno!
  15. Mine is a 5 room. Did single layer day-curtains for Living and MBR, single layer Nite curtain for Bedroom 1 and roller blinds for Bedroom 2. Also installed double tracks in case want to go for two layers next time. Total cost is about $1100. We were quoted about $1500 to $1600 by other vendors...
  16. Yup, I also face the same problem and agree that the MacDonald delivery bikes are the main culprits. I am quite sure they have illegally modified their exhausts to give the loud irritating roar. If there are enough of us, we should perhaps write a joint letter to McDonalds for action to be taken - failing which, we will escalate the matter to the relevant authorities. I mean, it is only fair that we give them a chance since this also concerns their rice bowls...
  17. Quite a while back we've been to the Toa Payoh West CC and we saw that they have a gym there. This CC is located very near to Blk79 along Lorong 2 (but must cross the road), it is next to Blk 147...maybe you can check it out and update the rest of us if the gym is still there? !!
  18. A few of us had made use of Sweet Home Curtain - I personally think that they are cheap and good. They are just located at TPY central along the row of shophouses facing Blk79 (the one where Japan Home and Tai Sin Electrical is located) -there are also a few curtain shops there too...happy shopping!
  19. Welcome Ronin! I sure love that movie by the same name!
  20. Say, I am staying at the higher floors! Glad to know that I am not the only one! But I am actually quite happy with how the whole thing has turned out. No need to hack any walls and Bedroom 2 stays the same size! Opps....!
  21. Hey Ms White and Shay_d. Thanks for hosting the football match screening yesterday nite! Hi Chocofudge, Sorry to hear about that. You may like like to raise this to the Building Service Centre, but my feeling is that they may not be able to do much as well... BTW, I am staying at Blk79C XX-39 too. Maybe will bump into you someday!
  22. Just to add on also...did you know that we also have a separate lift to the MSCP? This is located at the staircase column at the back of the MSCP at the BlkB side...the lift goes up till the seventh floor and the staircase continues to the Rooftop garden...
  23. Any idea who among us neighbors will be attending the Block House Warming on 29 March? I will most likely be going...
