  1. Anyone owns a Marantz SR6004 av receiver? Just collected mine... the user guide lists FM antenna as an included accessory... but my box doesn't have one leh... is it suppose to be included for singapore?
  2. Have you explored using a normal electric fan to "redirect" the air-con? That's what I do for my living room.
  3. haha sasay1980, you're from xtremeplace forum? Anyway saw your post too late... i've paid for my speakers yesterday already... thanks for the offer anyway. We should have a mass order forum here. I shortlisted denon 2310 too for my room but finally got Marantz 6004 instead because most pp claimed that Marantz is better for music. Anway i'm not even a novice yet, but thought the rated output for 1910 and 1610 are 90w and 75w respectively which might not maximise the potential for 3005SE (power handling of 100w). Maybe vicenzo70 the guru has more insights.
  4. Oh I thought you were recommending Monitor Audio for my bedroom (emphasis on music) and not living room and so didn't consider because of the width problem I mentioned for my bedroom. Anyway, since I need to get all my stuffs ready asap and won't have time later for shopping, I went with my earlier decisions and bought the following stuffs liao. Living room: KEF KHT3005SE 5.1 speakers with Yamaha RX-V1065 av receiver. Bedroom: KEF KHT5005.2 5.1 speakers with Marantz SR6004 av receiver. Hope these are ok.
  5. GP Acoustics at Adelphi. If you know of other places selling KEF please let me know also.
  6. Which 5.1 models from Monitor Radius HD range would you recommend? The left and right speakers for my bedroom must not be more than 4 inches wide. These Onkyo and Yamaha models cost about how much?
  7. Deftech pro60 good for music or not? I was actually deciding between this and KHT5005.2 before your post but very tempted to get the 5005. KEC got sell Marantz amp? Any specific model to recommend for either pro60 or 5005? If say Yamaha, does RX-V665 pair well with KEF KHT3005SE or you recommend something better?
  8. Typo... should be KHT5005.5. Sub on floor beside my head, next to my bed. My equipments cabinet (which will house the receiver) is beside my head, next to my bed. Have already pulled cables from there to my room tv and where the speakers would be. Thinking of getting a Marantz or Denon up to $1000. Which is better? As for living room with KHT3005SE, thinking of Yamaha or Onkyo or Pioneer up to $800. Different pp say different things. No chance to try out so dunno which one good. They're quoting me $2400 for KHT3005SE and $2900 for KHT5005.2 if payment by cash, excluding mounting brackets and installation. If by credit card or installments have to add 3% to 5%. Installation dunno how much. Where else could I get from other than Adelphi?
  9. I haven't tried out Morel yet... been busy. Will go Adelphi this weekend to get my sound systems... will see whether got chance to try Morel b4 that for a final decision. Meanwhile, most likely getting the following 5.1 speakers. 1. Bedroom: KEF KHT5005.2. Left and right wall-mount beside tv. Centre wall-mount on top of tv. Rear ceiling-mount. 2. Living room: KEF KHT3005SE. Ceiling-mount. I need you guys to suggest 2 suitable amps for the speakers. Budget $1000 and below for each amp, or total below $2000. Bedroom: For music/gaming/movies/news/ etc but mainly for music. Living room: For music/gaming/movies/news/ etc but mainly for movies and console gaming. Please help!!!
  10. Went Adelphi today to try 5.1 compact speakers for my room. Was very impressed with KEF KHT3005SE. Only worry was that the width for the 3001SE satellite speakers might post a problem compared to the narrower width of the HTS5001.2. But didn't test out KHT5005.2 because it wasn't setup at the shop. Came home to measure and indeed, the 3001SE when wall mounted will kena the sides of my tv zzz. So either I tahan the ugly setup or take KHT5005.2 instead. My question is whether the more expensive 5005.2 is a better/equal choice for the ears? Read some reviews that the subwoofer which came with 5002.2 loses out to the subwoofer for 3005SE, is it true?
  11. zzz so quiet. This area all senior citizens and horse-betting ah laos very few pp using internet or what... Anyway heard that there will be development on the plot of land behind kallang mrt station. Anyone got details?
  12. zzz only ngunadi and I posting... Anyway I went to try Steelcase's Leap and Think. Both chairs are very adjustable. Posture support definietly better than Aeron for short-thighs pp like me, and don't have to worry about table height... somemore got headrest. But dunno whether it's because the Steelcase showroom was quite warm... the Leap chair, which is suppose to be Steelcase's best, felt quite warm and not as comfortable as the rest. Ok lah still within my consideration. Aeron's promotion ending on 13 Feb but think I'll give it a miss ba although very tempted. Will try Humanscale and maybe also Knoll after CNY.
  13. I spend most of my time in my bedroom. Living room used mostly by my half-deaf parents and when there're visitors and friends coming over for gaming. Any idea on the price range for Kef satelitte series, Klipsch or Energy compact speakers? Which a/v receivers should I get that are within my budget? Will probably only have time to try them out after cny. Is Adelphi a good place to try/shop?
  14. I called up the Herman Miller office in Singapore and asked about the warranty thingy. The guy who answered the phone told me that even if the chair is purchased from overseas, as long as it's from an authorised dealer, I can still request Xtra (the local dealer) to service the warranty at no charge. If really true then hor seh liao... but dunno that guy blur or not leh. Would someone kindly call them to double confirm? Steelcase showroom only opens on weekdays and only until 6pm zzzz... will visit them next week to try out their chairs then decide.
  15. Hi experts, I need 2 sets of 5.1 speaker systems for my bedroom and the living room based on the following requirements. 1. Bedroom: Budget below $3000 for speakers and amp. Speakers must be compact and black in colour. Main left/right speakers should be within 4 inches in width. For music/gaming/movies/news/ etc but mainly for music. Front, left and right speakers to be wall mounted. Rear speakers to be mounted from ceiling. 2. Living room: Budget below $2000 for speakers and amp. Speakers must be compact and black in colour. For music/gaming/movies/news/ etc but mainly for movies and console gaming. Front, left, right and rear speakers to be mounted from ceiling. Please kindly advise as I need to get them asap hopefully by March. Cables already laid.
  16. Hi hi my neighbours!!! How are you? I've shifted to here for more than 1 year liao. Was enbloc from Sims Drive. Why this thread so quiet.... Come share your stories and happenings around here leh. Good food, gossips, complaints etc etc. You know the coffeeshop beside NTUC caught fire? Passed by this afternoon and saw the zhi cha stall kena burnt.
  17. $2799 locally but dunno whether got better lobang here or not. Very tempted to get from overseas but must have the warranty question answered first.

  19. I need to get a tower fan for my small kitchen. Best is slim with slim base can save floor space but can cover as much height as possible one. Got recommendations?
  20. I'm looking for an ergonomic chair for use at home. I spend between 4 to 16 hours infront of my home computer everyday. So far I've tried sitting on Herman Miller's Aeron, Herman Miller's Embody and Duorest Alpha from Ergoworks. Embody feels the most comfortable. Duorest has many adjustable parts and supports my sitting posture well. Aeron doesn't really feel as comfortable for me. Maybe it's because the seat depth cannot be adjusted. I'm contemplating to order an Embody from USA. With shipment is about $800 to $1000 cheaper than buying in Singapore. But my worry is whether the warranty still applies here loh... anyone knows? Anyone using Duorest chairs? Got problem or not? How much are Steelcase chairs selling in Singapore?
  21. I use the Miele everyday. So far so good. T-shirts didn't become loose like low-cuts after being washed for many times using the cotton/delicate cycles. My colleagues didn't believe me when I told them I never iron my working shirts and pants nowadays, which was washed using the minimum iron cycle. I usually wash my laundry late at night when my other family members are sleeping but they don't complain because very quiet. But I've only bought my washer for less than 1 year so haven't stressed it long term enough to validate it's durability. And I can't do comparison with other front-load washers because its my first front-load washer. Previously was using Sanyo top-load washer which accompanied me for more than 16 years and still didn't spoil when I moved house and parted it with tears. Can still stack the T7744C dryer on top of the W4446 washer, according to Miele showroom people.
  22. I got my Milele washer last year from Harvey Norman Millenia Walk. Model W4446 at $4525 with extended warranty(1+4) ($4190+$335). You should be able to get it cheaper elsewhere without the extended warranty. For product information you could visit Miele showroom at Winsland House II, Penang Road or find the Miele promoter at CK Tangs (forgot her name) or find Rina (not others) at Rina Electrical at Shaw Centre. They are nice and knowledgable, especially the lady at CK Tangs.
  23. Hi choppy, 1. I'm using Miele W4446 6kg washer. Got it 10 months ago. Those made-in-Germany Miele models that have the honeycomb drum design are suppose to be very gentle on your garments, very quiet during operation and built to last for a long time using very solid parts. But Miele washers cost much more than other brands (and even more so in Singapore where we pay more for Miele products compared to other countries). And dunno why the free warranty here only covers 1 year, whereas elsewhere like in Europe the free warranty is 3 years or more. So I had to get mine from a retailer that offered extended warranty up to 5(1+4) years. Before I decided to burn my pocket for a Miele washer, I was undecided between the highest end 6kg front load models (in SG at that time) of Electrolux and Bosch. I think the made-in-Thailand Electrolux model was very quiet and the drum looked gentle too. Also I heard good feedbacks from some friends who had used Electrolux washers for the past 5 to 10 years. As for the made-in-Germany Bosch model, it was full of features and very user-friendly. However, the drum which was raved about by Bosch to be very gentle didn't feel gentle when I ran my fingers across the holes. Anyway, all European front load washers have much longer normal washing cycles compared to Asian models and top load washers. 2. I'm most likely going to get the Samsung Series 8 46" LED TV. Main reason: the ultra slim design suits my new living room decor perfectly. I'm currently using a CRT TV and I know that a LCD/LED TV can never match the picture quality of a CRT on standard definition or Plasma on black levels and colors. But from reviews like Cnet, the SD picture on this model is quite good. The HD picture (hd movies and gaming) looks very good already in my eyes, although other brands are better. But then it's LED is Edge-Lit and so will suffer from full dimming (blackout) during scenes with very little light sources. Maybe if you can tahan you might want to wait until end of 2009 for the new Samsung Series 9 LED (not the older A950 LED launched in 2008) that is ultra slim, has a separate tuner box and is Back-Lit (supports local-dimming so might not have the blackout issue). If aesthetics is not important to you, then I think the pricing for current Samsung LED TVs is really too much. If you prefer more natural colours and watch alot of landscape sceneries then Sharp, Panasonic etc. If you prefer more digitally enhanced colours then Samsung, LG, etc. Sony and Philips are somewhere in between. Samsung LED vs Sony Bravia: if for aesthetics and energy-saving I'll for for Samsung; if for picture quality I'll go for Sony. I'm a novice at home electrical appliances. Just sharing what I've felt/heard during my research on purchases.
  24. I want to get the samsung series 8 46" led tv. any idea what's the best offer? Hi apples and homeboy, could i have your sales contacts?
  25. I need a built-in oven with rotisserie function. Will be using it at least twice a week for cakes, bread, cookies, roast meat, etc. I had actually narrowed down to Ariston FZ 1021 P.1 IX because of the comprehensive functions, look factor (appearance is among my considerations) and budget etc. But after reading some bad comments about Ariston products, I've decided to open up my options. Some other models I'm looking into: Bosch HBN760551F Brandt FC642XF1 Which of the above 3 models is the best? Or have any better model to recommend? My budget is $2500 and below. Need to decide fast fast within 2 weeks. Please help!
