  1. LOL babe.. thanks for sharing about your sofa story. Will be crossing my fingers for you!! =D Realised we have similar colour palette for our homes
  2. Sorry to hear that, what happened? Mine arrived a week late.. lol but didnt look as nice as it did in the picture. I'll upload a picture of it in a bit..!
  3. NEXT UP - feature walls Since the bombshelter and its door is located near the midpoint of my hall; and it being a tiny tiny house the ugly bombshelter door becomes a feature point for my door way/ kitchen/living room. We originally wanted a full feature wall starting from the door way, leading right to the end of the living room where the floor to ceiling balcony glass doors are. And being the first time house owner with zero renovation experience, I suggested to have it covered in MARBLE (!) or marble like laminate hehehe However the cost came up to quite a bit so we had to scrap that idea In the end we went for a tic-tac feature wall to 'house' the bomb shelter and a marble laminate feature wall with built in cupboards as TV console. BEFORE AFTER Here's another angle As for our TV console laminate, we went for something more impactful as compared to the subtle grey laminate we see being used in most developments. End results!! With only our 'romantic' yellow lights on!
  4. Thanks for making me feel better guys!! Yes I would agree that their sofa is rather solid, the fabric covering is nothing shout about but foam definitely felt sturdy and comfy!
  5. Lights & Sofa choices The Fiance and I didn't have the time to shop around for lights so we decided upon 2 different decorative lights from the same shop in Geylang since our ID was pressing us for them so he can get the contractors to put them up. We struggled for quite a bit if we should have them up before tha paint job or after. Since we got quoted $1500 for a paint job by the ID, we decided to go with a no-frill painter which charges us only $850 for 2 coats of washable Dulux paint instead. Fiance choice the black round heavy duty looking hanging lamp with 5 lightbulbs for our living room while I went for a 3-vase like transparent hanging lamps with reflective finishing to suit my French style (or so i thought) bedroom! And the below lamps for our Master bedroom..=D These 2 lights cost us around $730 after 40% discount. hahha on hindsight we think we overpaid! But wait till you hear about our Boo-Boo overpaying for our Fabric sofa next =( I was researching online for a fabric sofa for a while and decided to check out Etch & Bolts since they are located right within Joo Chiat. Their office is well designed the lady who served us is really nice! (ha.. we're suckes for good service) Prior to this trip, we had our minds set on spending $2,500 for a automatic sofa bed from Kings Furniture. Hence seeing that etch & Bolts sofa only cost $1599, we jumped on it! Furthermore, it was 'bespoke' in the sense we are able to choose from difference sizes, styles, fabric cofa, softness etc.. Only to chance upon an almost identical sofa a couple of weeks later on sale for only $799 at Nook & Cannery Remus Sofa in blue fabric with light beige feet =D
  6. Thanks Dukebluedevil... =D Glad to know we have similar taste hehe.. anyway here are a couple of shots of the 3D impression I got from my ID. My fiance and I were surprised that he outsourced it to a third party when it comes to 3-D works. We thought it's the least he could do as an ID? We eventually removed the 2 black lines from our marble look laminate and changed the built in wardrobe design. Revised 3-D photos:
  7. Does anyone know how to upload pictures directly from the comp/iphone? It's getting rather tedious uploading pictures one by one onto renotalk gallery before transferring here. Anyway.. here's how my living room and balcony looks like prior reno work. Btw, we did engaged an ID for the the entire renovation process. We were in a rush to confirm an ID for the job so we went with our ID (Andy) who later left the firm we first met him at. He turned out to be such a bo-chup, lousy ID who gave no ideas to how we should do up our home. Not wanting to bring the bad feeling we got from his services here, to even mention his name here as our Andy makes me want to gag. My fiance and I were glad we do not need to work with him anymore. Not like we manage to see him much as he is always MIA and not replying to our queries and texts. *edit - this picture actually showed my original compressed marble floor layered with vinyl flooring and our fan& lights fixed up. =D
  8. I got the same mirror from Ikea too! very pretty and totally suits your home decor =D
  9. We were inspired by these 2 homes found on Pinterest! Still getting the hang of uploading pictures and all so bear with me while I sort out the pictures in chronological order of our renovation progress
  10. Hi guys! I've been lurking around the Reno-blog mid way into my my renovation and I think it's time to share my Reno journey here now that it has completed Brief introduction to my home here - My Fiance and I purchased a 1+1 unit of 560 sft at One Eighties Residences (Condo) along Joo Chiat Terrace. That was almost 2 years ago and back then we didn't have much $$ or CPF to purchase a larger unit so it's the best we could do. My fiance is rather easy with the interior design. So long it's clean and not entirely girly he would be happy =D His only ask were for a place to play his computer games and a decent area to house TV/ PS4/nerd stuff. Our apartment has 1 MBR, 1 study room (tiny!), 1 guest toilet and 1 MBR toilet. 1 living room balcony and a balcony ledge attached to our MBR. In short, 2 rooms, 2 toilets and 2 balcony We decided to hack off the wall connecting the study room and our MBR so we can have a larger MBR and space for a full wardrobe Below is our detailed floor plan for your reference.
