  1. I have sent you a pm on contractor contact. Mine is almost half the price of my previous ID quote.
  2. I called HDB regarding this matter. I was told that if the renovation work is just pure carpentry and no hacking or other work that needs HDB permit. I can use contractor even if they are not registered with HDB. They just adviced me to make sure that company is under ACRA. The contractor that I want to engage concentrate on condo works and I intend to sign up with them. Luckily all of the renovation in my unit are mostly carpentry work.
  3. I have been in this situation few months back. Same amount of deposit and I hope not the same company as the thread starter. I also signed up during the expo. It was a very stupid mistake for a first time flat owner like me. ID abused us a lot in terms of delaying the quotation. Most of the prices also been blowned up. I almost give up after most of my friends told me that I can no longer get the deposit. The ID even threatened us saying that the drawings had been done which I definitely believe is a lie. To our surprise, when I called the big boss of the ID firm, the boss immediately refund my money and even told me that he will confront the ID on what he had done. That's customer service. I salute to big boss that they do not tolerate their ID on these things.
  4. This is exactly the same dillema I am facing right now. I want to engage this contractor to do my house but their company is not a hdb registered contractor. Will HDB penalize me if I proceed with renovation with them? The main reason why I chose them is that I have seen a lot of IDs finished flats already but theirs is more superior in terms of quality and workmanship. Their company sells furnitures to commercial market. And their price is lower than the IDs have quoted me. This is the only problem why I have not signed contract with them. I am worried that HDB penalize me if I engage them. Anyone here had experienced renovating their hdb flat using non hdb registered contractor. Pls share your experience and advice to me. THank You.
  5. Newbie here. Need advice if allowed to use contractor that is not HDB Registered. I want to consider this contractor but his name is not in HDB Registered Contractor. Any legal problem engaging this contractor?
  6. Hi Sis, me also worried that hacking walls might cause delay in renovation. PE endorsement might take some time and add'l $.
  7. Anybody hacking their walls? Almost all of the ID talked to suggested to hack walls. But I am reluctant as might regret it later? Pls give me ideas on what to do with the renovation and how much you will be spending.
  8. People have different beliefs in life. But for me, this is a fact. You may have a Toyota Altis right now, but I know in your mind, you are craving for a Porche. You may be staying in an Executive Apartment, but for sure, you want to stay in a private condo. But once you have your own children, you will never wish for more. They are youre real treasures that no other thing can supercede.
  9. Really. im at level 6. have u got ur keys already?
  10. Newbie here, me also booked in May but still waiting for key. Block 359C opp Canberra Pri. Need your advice, I want to engage a contractor instead of ID. But the contractor I am considering is not an HDB Registered Contractor. Any legal problem with this?
