Yo PJ, long time no see too! Mickey, I was trying to remember the shop's name but you remember it. Actually, you don't need to buy those embroidered pattern suede curtains. All you need is to buy the suede material then send the material to a shop providing embroidery services - its way cheaper than having patterned fabrics. Just ask if they can embroider mickey logo or something in gold thread. My relative sends her towels for embroidering logos on them.
-
Hmmm.. you should try looking at shabby-victorian stuff online, if im not mistaken.. there are embroidered pattern materials online but not the heavy type. Alternatively, you could check out fabric shops like the ones in chinatown or the ones near landmark hotel. You might find some really interesting finds. That reminds me, I think I saw a suede material like curtain fabric in Plaza Sing or was it IMM - there's a curtain shop that have rich fabrics.

Both layout 1 & 2 are okay generally looking at how the planning is done. But if it's me, I would go for layout 1's planning of the study+walk in wardrobe and the 2nd room for MBR because the walk-in-wardrobe is closer to the bathroom. The place's resale value is entirely dependent on the condition + maintenence and the valuation a few years down the road though. So don't worry too much first and think about creating your own place instead.

Mickey, you mean those kind of curtain material in deep maroon suede with gold trimmings or golden curtain ribbon to hold up when curtain not drawn - the ones used in castles like in the royale palace in Versailles? Those are heavy material - can virtually block out 100% sun.
-
1st layout looks better with the layout of the Study+walk in wardobe and MBR. However I think the layout of the kitchen in the 3rd layout and dining arrangment in 2nd layout looks good. You could incorporate all 3 into 1 final layout.

Hi Angel, You can do it too! The time taken to layer it by layer is 1 hour - around the same time taken for a cheescake to bake in the oven. Each layer takes 6-7mins to grill with the exception of the top layer which takes 15 min to bake till golden brown. So it's not that bad. Built-in ovens are slightly over your budget - in the range of 500++ to 800+. Some even upwards 1k. Ariston built in ovens are good, a number of forumers have ariston ovens. For portable ovens, I'm not too sure which is the biggest capacity oven in the market now.

Add silver fruit bowls, platters. Then napkins can be either black or white with contrasting white/black stripes like the sailor flap of sailor uniforms. Or maybe can add embroidery to the napkins to personalize the effect :notti: I love the mickey & minnie outlines on the red wall.

Baby Belling is a good oven - they have bigger ovens but it should be the older models if im not mistaken. Assuming that you're looking for portable ovens than built in ovens, then what kind of capacity you require for your oven as portable ones seldom come in any bigger size than built-in ones. Any baking kakis can recommend for bigger capacity ovens?

No leh, I'm not a queen lol. I only am learning the art of kueh lapis slowly. Definitely, baking with different types of ingredients makes us think about the amount used in bakeries.

Based on your layout, it doesn't matter which bedroom will be utilized as study/walk in wardrobe or MBR because the MBR comes with an attached bathroom so the convenience of changing clothes/using bathroom within the enlarged area is fairly ok. However, if you want a smaller MBR with the space for the bedframe, bedside table and the tv, then the MBR bedroom would suit for a bigger space for alot of clothes if you both have alot and you can easily have space for your study table etc. Since you did not opt for doors, it saves you the trouble first - if you intend to hack the wall between the 2nd bedroom and the MBR, then how about this : Where the purple line is - if there is a entrance, seal that up? Not sure if the area where the wardrobe in the picture is part of the original floor area of the MBR, but if it isn't and is actually part of the floor area of the bedroom 2. I suggest, not to eat into the floor area of the bedroom 2 since there will be a hacked section of the wall like a entrance between the MBR and Bedroom 2. It's alot easier to plan in rectangular shape plus more convenient if you intend to turn the MBR into a study/walk in wardrobe. and the bedroom 2 into the MBR.

Hello all, Been a long while since I'd last posted in here. Made kueh lapis for the 2nd time - 1st attempt wasn't a pretty sight as the layers weren't defined properly. Never realised kueh lapis would require so many eggs! Quite fattening and probably the reason why kueh lapis is expensive to buy.

Looks good. Very whimsical, gives me the feeling of being in disneyland. I came back from HK Disneyland recently so its still very surrealistic. I think the feature wall would also look nice in white color with damask patterns or with mickey patterns on it. The carpentry must have cost you alot, looking at the feature wall, kitchen works. If you got a bronze statue of mickey/minnie mouse to stand at your entrance area, that would be even cooler Mickey Pics here

Yeah, he can really paint - so talented. He did the audrey hepburn painting in 2 different poses before but the modified part with the floral cloth as the cheongsam in the east+western theme really bowled me over. Pink - My hubby's not fond of it though, got to consider his comfort level cos also his room too. Silver stripes can? I'm more gian leh, I want a island also but my kitchen layout cannot put island in there.

It's Channel 8 actually. It should be the 3rd season since the first two seasons were from last year or so. Its basically home decorating with some DIY tricks & the right furniture to suit different themes with a budget of 6k. The 2 hosts involved are Mark lee & Bryan Wong. It airs on tuesday at 8pm if im not wrong since I watched it yesterday.

Actually, it's my MBR wall I want to paint horizontal stripes of 10" in width.. Now deciding what colour besides white would go with baby blue as the base coat which is the actual colour of my MBR now. Have you people watched Home Deco Survivor season airing this year?
-
New: Can give me tips on how to paint straight stripes? Im planning to paint horizontal stripes in the bedroom.

Did I see mango? I love mango as well. The fridge look so retro! Maybe next time i go for a funky kitchen to match my happy mood during baking sessions. Newnyew's blog finally hit 100 pages, not bad! I do agree that Best Denki got salespeople follow customers about but if they are able to explain with good product knowledge, even that is a minor issue for customers. HN on the other hand have good customer service - I didn't have any problems with HN before when I bought several electronic stuff then. Maybe it varies with HN branches?

Quote you first. :notti: make it sound like a harem in here I've done both vanilla and chocolate sponge cake. I think the type of flour, temperature and of course the double-action baking powder (big player) plays in the whole thing depending on recipe. Norm, I use all-purpose flour and sometimes the baking soda/powder or the double baking powder when called for it. I'm thinking of switching to cake flour since cake flour is the best for sponge cakes, genoise and some cookie batters. While self-raising flour or all purpose flour would be best for heavy/rich cakes The temperature listed in recipes - we can't follow to a T 'cause the problem is the temperature varies with the oven type/brand. Even electrical voltage for appliances overseas differs from here. It will be either too hot or too low even if you're following the temperature in the recipe. I usually drop 10-20 deg off the temperature in the recipes (for american recipes only)

Wah Julia, very nice. You can be a Baking Queen de. Your cupcakes filled out quite nicely, mine doesn't fill out properly to a nice height or near flat surface. It's like a big mountain peak surface when its done

No wonder it looks glossy. Then must ask u for tips on painting straight stripes hor. I initially wanted to paint stripes on the main wall in my MBR but that would have to take a back seat for the time being.
