If you dropping by next weekend, can keep me updated if new stock have come in or not?
-
Im staying mid floor. I dun see any flies fying outside our balcony, Partly cos i think its very windy here at balcony & corridor also. In fact dun need any fan or air con for living room. Is your area in the afternoon sun by the way? Mine don't have any afternoon sun. My sofa length is just right for the living area cos we put the sofa against the shorter wall where the study corner is, tv console at the longer wall opp so it's not cramped compared to the actual showroom flat furnishings some months back. I had a surprise looking at the living area & the sofa was kinda small. can seat maybe 2 or 3 people max? Maintaining a house is big time investment with time & effort besides $$$. I'm still amazed at how many things needed to buy for a house up to now.
-
I also am eyeing the kitchen rack too! But have to wait for stock for it to come in. Went to ikea at alexandra 2 weeks ago and it was already out of stock. Not sure any stock for it have come in now or not.

You're up at this hour? No wonder got to custom make your sofa. Mine is at most 2.6m. Yep one day meet up when free. Cos your pic of the doors indicated that your doors are painted, so I immediately know it is the original HDB doors excluding the original door knobs. I also changed the door knobs to lever locksets too as I like lever types more than knobs. My renovation was very simple as we'd didn't want to spend alot on renovations & we'd had to moive out of our previous place within a short notice then. Did only the flooring and we'd did the painting of the house ourselves. Have only completed 90% renovations at moment as still have paintworks to do for the remaining room & doors.

Yup, living in the same area except im at C. I didn't know 3m is the normal length for a sofa as I never custom make my sofa set. It came in its actual size as in the furniture shop when I went to choose my furniture. Wow, 40k on renovations. Your place looks really uber cool, a hint of retro & futuristic style with the disco lights & pool table as main focus other than the MBR & Common Toilets. I notice your doors are the original HDB doors painted over and fitted with lever locksets right? The colours make the doors look very condo-ish style.

Applefreak: Agree with you on that. The Grundtal series includes those with stainless steel racks right?
-
Applefreak : Oh sorry, What i mean is since Ikea has Blum runners, those are products by blum being 'endorsed' in ikea products in a way. So if any products by blum are being 'endorsed' in other products that might come in useful for my place, I may consider getting that particular product in future. Keitong : Agree, for example Ikea has stainless kitchen in their kitchen catalogue but its not full stainless steel. So what you pay for depends on what you're intending to get from ikea.
-
Keitong : We ended up engaging my parent's lobang after we'd approached Ikea for a quotation on the breakdown of its cabinets & misc stuff per feet & cost. Looking at Ikea's costs for the whole kitchen based on an estimated size, the cost is higher than my parent's lobang costs in the end. Right now, satisfied with the kitchen carpentry done by my parent's lobang and it is some savings saved in comparison actually. Applefreak : Blum is a reputable one but have yet to come across any product endorsed by Blum for the house at the moment. maybe someday then.

Max383 : Have pmed you the contact.
-
Max383 : Actually we'd shift in before furniture came in a few days later after since we'd needed to move out from our previous place immediately. We'd only did basic renovations like the flooring, kitchen carpentry. The paintworks are not 100% done, only 90% done as we'd did the paintworks for only living/diining and MBR + the whole unit's ceiling due to the fact that we'd would have furniture for only those areas coming in before CNY. Only left is just to complete painting for the remaining rooms, study and doors. Hope this answers your question. Sure no problem, I'd pm you for the contact in JB.

Hi Max383, Happy Chinese New Year to you too. CMI = Cannot Make It. Thanks, Just saw the picture. Looks simple and nice.

It's not really much of the length i'm comparing for tv consoles. I noticed that such tv consoles of such lengths in singapore tend to be more pricier for no reason. China stuff really CMI one and at times can be decent sometimes for a bargain to begin with. You can email to eqtradervs@yahoo.com.sg by the way. I do not need a furniture contact at the moment as I've gotten the main bulk of my furniture from malaysia actually. Just wondering what your tv console looks like but thanks for the offer though.
-
Can pm me ur pic of the tv console? ya it is overpriced in singapore sometimes but then it's like carrying a quality furniture brand name tag in the 1st place which is what consumers are paying for other than quality. there are some tv consoles in the shop where I got my furniture pieces from, some of them are like 7-8 ft and should be about the equivalent of 400-500 plus sgd. Its more or less almost the same pricing in singapore for most brand name furniture shops with such lengths.

Can't see the picture posted in here. But one thing to note that, for handling of furnitures from JB or any other country, will bound to have few minor scratches due to handling via customs. We'd also got our furniture from JB but through a lobang. A few of our furniture pieces came with few minor scratches but can live with it as the overall condition of the furnitures look like 9/10 (10/10 without scratches that is) Designer wise, there's nothing much to be expected to buy in JB unless some of the furniture shops in sg like Lorenzo for example, have 'sister' branches/subsidary/merchant shops in JB. If you look hard enough, you'd can get some good furniture pieces in terms of aesthetics and functionality worth getting.

Your place looks good. What is the exact cost for the renovation done for your place? Your place is at blk 27xA or B area right? The living area is short and not long so it's not easy to place a sofa and console with a study room corner in the way. Have the same layout as yours except its the mirror image.

Ya. I went to Hafary to choose tiles too and Patrick very fast got the correct tiles delivered to my place to start the tiling works. It took the workers less than 2 days to complete and I must say that the speed and efficiency surprised me and my other half too. Price wise. like rendy summed it up, it is worth it in the end for less heartaches and we'd do not need to go down to supervise the works also. From my observation, the workers definitely does their work well with little or no supervision which is like indicating patrick is a good boss to his workers hence the good work. !! -
Apologies for late reply. Spinball: Yes got to be more thorough since got to live in it for 5 years max. !!

CM, Thanks for the reply. I've been busy with renovations to my unit at hand to look in RT the last few days. No ID, just a contractor to do the needed works for the place at hand. Had been looking high and low for nice kitchen design with sink support as my mum feel that sink support is a must. So didn't know whether it is possible to have a sink support that's not visible from the outside while maintaining a nice kitchen. In fact those sink supports I see, are really ugly and old fashioned types which are visible. Any picture of your sink support? Thanks. -

Patrick handed over this morning, of all the contractors we have (About 5 to 6) , patrick gave me the least headache. Dealing with others make my blood boil, while Patrick makes all these smooth sailing. Very happy with their tiling works for the kitchen and balcony. HDB contractors need to learn a thing or two. -

CM, Noticed that in one of your pictures which shows part of your sink and a big cabinet that holds 3 ovens, your sink is undermounted right? If so, did you have any concrete sink support for it since I can't see any signs of sink support? -

Reading about your experience is a bit of an surprise given the recommendations by other forumers in here, vowsh I'd contacted Ho Bee last year for a quotation in september. It is only recently that I'd confirmed and engage Ho Bee as my contractor after much follow up by Patrick or Mrs Quek over items in the quotations which we'd decided we'd did not want or wanted to include. This was done a few times via e-mails and several phone calls later before we'd agreed on a suitable quotation in the end and engaged Ho Bee for the works on the spot. Believe that the works for Ho Bee is considered a small job and that's probably one of the reasons why Patrick is taking up this job since he mentioned that he is quite busy and will not be able to take up any big jobs before CNY. Right now,the works by Ho Bee have not started yet since HDB will have to rectify some minor defects at the moment. -
Icestorm, yes it is. Just recently read this news in TNP on hanky panky activities between construction worker & maid in a new JW 3 room flat, Owner bery suay cos he got his keys a week ago and only find that his new home becomes a meeting point between lovers in the end.

Hi Spinball, nope did not report to police as I am not involved. The letter was copied and mailed together with H*ll paper money each to everybody in the block according to the sender. The objective of the sender was to paint a very bad image of the neighbor mentioned in the letter in a way. So there is nothing I can do about it. Just that it is not my lucky day to receive such a letter with H*ll paper money originally meant for the neighbor's eyes when I got the keys.
