Another JWer! But sad to say I'm farther away from your area although I go JP alot. I like your home, esp the fan at the living room with cove light. Quite classy also.

Yes 2 more weeks for cash & carry customers. However, I read from Star Net's website, they going to introduce a new kind of payment system which is yet to be announced after february. Their 8”x8”x5” cake box which is usually at $0.48 will be now $0.27, about 43% discount, quite cheap leh, but not sure if I'm going to buy any yet as I've been busy to bake - So many projects to do this year. PS: You're staying at JE, nearest to Lakeside? Either way you can go IMM or Lee Bee Enterprises (Lee Bee enterprises is at JW St 52.)

Marshmallow, You're welcome! The shop is called Star Net Marketing Pte Ltd, located on the 4th floor at the warehouse section. You can buy alot of things in bulk cheaper than Daiso. Take the lift from lobby A (near the MacDonalds) to level 4 Walk left towards the Staff cafeteria Turn right and right once more towards a long corridor and you will reach there. However, if you want to get items, better buy before february arrives cos they going to stop serving cash and carry customers. For blender, I suggest you don't set the blender on at full speed. Maybe at a slow-medium speed.

Wah still alive de. Haven't been in here since my last post. Rondy : Yum your xmas cakes. Froggy : Pei fu Pei fu, make pineapple filling from scratch, very tiring and tedious to make. gfac : That's thoughtful of you. Marshmallow's list of things to get is about there. I would also recommend that you get some easy baking recipe books for your fiancee before she goes on to the advanced level. shumin : Lovely cookies, I made these before. But alot hard work moulding and putting in koko crunch bits. There's a Baking supplies shop in JB I always go to, but its not at sentosa - don't see any in sentosa since I go into JB frequently. Daiso has cheap baking stuff but their paper boxes for cakes are kind of flimsy, I bought a couple of them before and find not so good. However if you going to IMM, you might want to check out another baking supplies shop at the warehous level, its much more cheaper . ^_^ Phoon Huat is not the only baking supplies shop, you can also check out Sun Lik near Bras Besah complex or Ailin at Tanjong Katong Complex or KCT located near aljunied mrt. For west side (Jurong), there's Lee Bee Enterprises.

About this part - I had a similar situation a few weeks after I'd moved in except this time my main door was open, the gate was padlocked and I was in the living room at that time when this old guy came to our main gate and kept trying to open the padlock. Apparently he came a few times before trying to open the padlock under the pre-text that the padlock is no good and that he is selling padlocks, etc that sort when my husband was home (its been 2 years since) I was very surprised and taken aback at this old man's action - an uncle in his 40s-50s. I'd posted something about this before in this forum Thankfully, after that incident, he never came again - I think it's because the neighbours already moved in. But it pays to be very careful

You're welcome - my apologies for not being able to give you a better review on teka sinks. =) Happy shopping!

Hello there, saw your post on Teka sinks. I'm using teka sink - a single bowl but I kinda regret not getting a bigger or a double bowl sink in fact even though its just me and my hubby. Baking & Cooking require alot of wash up if you ask me and there is not enough space to put utensils, etc in a single bowl sink for washup. In addition, the sink drain was smaller inside the basin so, alot of bits flowing into the pipe quickly esp if the water pressure is strong, possibility of pipe getting clogged faster so the sink drain was replaced with a cheap sink drain from NTUC. Other than that I don't have any issue with Teka sinks - the steel grade is higher if I'm not mistaken but I didn't buy my sink from the direct distributor/shop selling teka sinks, so I can't provide more details. I believe a few forumers had bought Teka sinks also - hopefully they can provide more details

I'm not too sure about the value of your flat but property market is always on a yo-yo. Sometimes a flat can sell way above their valuation value as reported in the papers. But as to whether the value will increase or not, depends on the property market a few years later. Now, still early to say esp with the gov announcing their intentions to 'control' property market speculation/investment. But yeah the HDB officer will conduct a check after the renovation works are over - the same thing happened to us after we'd moved in. -
IMHO, the mixer is very heavy to carry - definitely a heavyweight and using it is a breeze. My next target shall be the buffalo blender :notti: Side track here, I wish everyone 中秋节快乐 in advance in case I am not online. My mooncake bakes : Chocolate mooncakes & Vegetarian mooncakes Yam Snowskin Mooncakes

Long time never post in RT Saw the recent posts on mixers. If anyone wants to get a good, heavy duty mixer - I will recommend Buffalo Product as it is cheaper than kitchenaid or kenwood by a few hundred. The bowl volume is 4.1L (Kitchenaid/Kenwood's about 4.8L I think) & according to my mum who's been using buffalo products for as long as 5-10 years, they are definitely lasting and good, in addition to a few other's good comments on buffalo products. I remember that I promised a few forumers in here to put up pictures of the buffalo mixer if I got it, so here are the promised pictures.

Add on to that.. not only black get obvious scratches, there's also water stains!

Hmm there are fondue pots you can get from department store - those are the type where you can put tea-candle (those kind of aromatherapy candles, just get the white candle with no aroma) to heat the fondue pot. That should do the trick.

I started a thread on JB furnishing / curtain shop contacts - please feel free to add your recommendations.

I recently visited her shop and she has since updated her curtain collection compared to 2 years ago when I bought my curtains from her. View of the shop from entrance Upclose of curtains on display Upclose of damask wallpaper in beige - its very pretty in person Sorry, the pattern should be upright instead due to the photo taking The curtain shop is about 15 minutes away from the JB checkpoint. Address is : J&S Soft Furnishing 105, Jalan Beringin, Taman Melodies, 80250 Johor Bahru Malaysia Tel : +607-334 3635 Email : Sales@jssoft.com.my -

Hi, As per topic, I would like to ask all who have bought their furniture from JB before, to share their recommendations in here. It will be easier to consolidate all information in one thread about JB furniture shops To start it off, here's a few pictures with the permission of the boss of the shop - The boss and assistants are nice and friendly, they even suggest what to do for matching colours. In fact I went there again recently to purchase a 2 seater sofa and side table. I have bought my furniture as indicated in my signature from this shop 2 years ago and the furniture is stable and of decent quality so in my opinion, it is worth the money. Disclaimer : I do not work for the furniture shop nor do I earn any commission etc from promoting them, just would like to share this lobang with you since there have been people asking me for my JB contact. These are pictures of the furnitures I bought recently. The shop has a wide range of furniture ranging from country style, oriental style, neo classical and modern styles. Neo-Classic furniture

Any pic of your carrot cake without decoration and cream? 55g dessicated coconut -> must add this? I hate dessicated coconut.

Wah Mickey understands Newnyew so well. If New gets display fridge for storing food other than alcohol - then the food must be pleasant to look at everyday including the meat and poultry stuff.
-
But means more cleaning to do for mirrors - everytime must wipe wipe till sparkly clean. I can imagine a super clean house. I sorta liked the green wall more though

Rondy : you didn't use muffin tray to put the cupcakes in? They will set very nicely during baking. The colours look really appealing before being baked in particular, the orange one - looks like the flat orange bun by breadtalk. I think you should adjust the temperature of your oven too - not every oven have the same 'heat' temperature even if you follow the temperature in recipe. You could drop the temperature listed in the recipe down by 10-20 degrees.
-
Xaleysan : Pretty bakes you have, you can be a baking queen here. Shifu! Today made white chrysanthemum (Gong Ju) jellies - Its my 2nd attempt actually as the 1st attempt didn't turn out well because the yellow chrysanthemum flavour didn't taste as good and the jellies were too watery due to not enough agar agar powder. The 2nd attempt fared better after making changes to the amount of agar agar powder in the recipe I found online plus the flavour of the white chrysanthemum(Gong Ju) tasted better.

I bought mine from JB as indicated in my signature. For payment terms, some business will deal with you on trust provided you really know the owner or deliver true to its words. Because my relative knows the boss of the furniture shop, the payment was settled one way or another. The quality is pretty decent and sturdy. My bedframe is quite sturdy, will take 2-3 guys to carry out the bedhead itself as it is very heavy. So is the tv console and coffee table as well but for glass items which are really heavy - they are prone to cracks with time as with my coffee table somehow? :dunno: But for tax levy and transport cost, they can be waived if you purchase enough and the total cost is more than enough to absorb the levy and transport - this you need to negotiate with the shop itself.
