Hi, Hope someone can help me. We have a ceiling fan which we bought 3 years ago - forgot the brand and can't locate the receipt. The ceiling fan comes with a remote control and last week, it stopped working! The remote control was very hot when we tried turning the fan on and we tried resetting it to no avail. When we press the remote control, the light on the remote control lights up but the fan doesn't move. So now I'm wondering if it's the remote control problem or the fan problem? The master switch won't turn the fan on either. Should I just buy a new fan or is there a way to fix/bypass the remote control? I'm uhm, not particularly savvy when it comes to these. Hope to hear some suggestions. Thanks!

Need Help With Kitchen Cabinet - Can Repair On My Own?
enrisa replied to enrisa's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
hi, thanks for all your reply and recommendation. i finally know what that metal thing is called -- as odd as it may sound -- cabinet gas stay or sometimes just 'stays'. shanghai tong lee sells them but they asked me for the measurement of my cupboard and also what model number. i only saw 150N so far but i'll need to remeasure it again to see. hope i don't break it in the meantime. i'm still trying to see if i can fix the corners as it's really sharp and one day someone's eye is bound to be poked out with the corner when someone else is opening it. -
Need Help With Kitchen Cabinet - Can Repair On My Own?

Bump. Anyone can help? -
Hi, not sure if anyone has such a problem but my cabinet above needs to be held on each time I open to take stuff from the cabinet. The metal mechanism that supports both side doesn't seem to be working where it's suppose to hold the glass up each time we flip it. So I now resort to using one hand to hold and another to take the stuff or use my head to support the cabinet door while i use both hands to load/unload stuff -__- Any idea on to how to fix it on my own and where I can get the parts? Or do I need a contractor/handyman for this? (this was inherited from previous owner when we bought it as it was quite new then). The sides are also quite sharp so I'm trying to see if there's a way to protect the corners before someone's eyes get jabbed! If a contractor/handyman is needed wld greatly appreciate some contacts as I also need to get some power points installed in my home. Do let me know. Thanks in advance!

Baking Gurus - Bake With Microwave/convection Oven
enrisa replied to enrisa's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi Sorry I totally forgotten i posted this and didnt come back to check on it. I can't remember the price i got but it was around <$300 and i got a pink kitchenaid. So i've been using my oven, i made scones the other day and cookies as well. turned out fine with the convection setting. Regarding the part on not being able to use baking tins -- i realise I "maybe" wrong. While walking in a mall, I saw SAMSUNG doing a demo on all their household appliances and one of them was a microwave with convection feature. Inside was a muffin tray with muffin batter being baked! So i asked the guy how is it that he could use a muffin tray in it and he says, under convection its possible. I googled a bit more and found a US manual version of my microwave convection model and it states under convection it's ok to use baking tin but not under microwave option. I can even use foil! I tested foil under convection and it was ok, there was no sparks, not like how I first put foil in the microwave in my parents house when i was a young kid and saw sparks flying inside. So here i am asking again (as a reconfirmation if possible) --- has anyone used a baking tin in a microwave UNDER convection mode to make cakes, breads etc etc? Microwave with Convection mode owners -- begging you for an answer! -
this is depressing, they forgot about my order (well the factory, not the company) so it will take another 8-10 weeks before i get anything! argh

Hi has anyone here concealed their master bedroom toilet pipes? When i bought my flat, the pipes are all concealed.

I have this problem which nobody seems to know how to fix and I’m not sure if its even a plumbing problem or otherwise. Here’s the situation: masterbedroom floor – wooden laminates squishes water whenever we step on them. We tracked down the source (or so we thought) of where the water came from and it was the nearby wooden cornice which we notice was bulging and already ‘nua’ from the water seeping through it (just imagine a piece of wood being soaked in water and it gets bloated). My wooden floor laminates (original from prev owner) kinda feels a bit bloated from the water underneath it but I have no clue where else the water can come from. We called a plumber who immediately said it was an aircon leak. I called the aircon, we tore down a small section of the gypsum board coz we thought there was a leak/pipe there only to find there’s no pipe there!! The aircon guy says one small corner of the floor (between the tile of my MB bathroom and wall) was wet. So I have to find someone to come and inspect and since the aircon is now ruled out I’m wondering what else can it be? The aircon guy (dunno if he knows what he’s talking) says it could be water-proofing of my MB bathroom! My MB bathroom pipes are all concealed and I can’t imagine there be pipes on the floor of my bathroom (my MB bathroom is about 5cm elevated above the floor of my MB). If anyone staying in redhill has this problem, please let me know? Sigh … or if you have any good plumber/tiler who can diagnose such problem please let me know.

Hi all here's some of my creations in the past Itching to start baking again since I've just moved in. Am thinking pineapple tarts! Yummm (but i've been hearing how tedious it is to make) The famous Strawberry Jellyheart. This version of mine is SUGAR-FREE! Haha, i'm under strict diet so I whipped up a sugar-free and fat-free version. the only thing that's probably 'fat' in that sense is the base - light digestive and butter Simple Chocolate Macarons Christmas Tree cake-pops Happy baking everyone!

Hi all i finally bought a microwave/convection oven as i had to comply with whatever space i had. So I bought this model SHARP R-898M. I got it last week and the recipe book and manual seems to be quite promising in the sense that it shows i'm able to even whip up scones and cakes and the likes. I'm searching around but there's not much resources other than the usual chocolate cakes and pound cakes made out of the microwave. If anyone has any recipe to share on baking/grilling using the microwave/convection, please do share! It's my first time using and I'm trying to grasp hold of it. What more, i just realised I can't even use my baking tins in the microwave cos they are not microwave safe And I bought my KitchenAid the other day ... arghh.

Washers: Lg Wd-14331ad Vs Samsung Wf8702
enrisa replied to theoldjaffa's topic in Electronics & Electricals
heyy i have the LG 14331 one too. It's about 3 weeks old and i didn't get the delivery/LG guys to teach me how to operate as the house was still in a mess that time when they delivered. So i read the manual. Can i ask those who own this machine - when i first did my laundry, after the wash waas completed, i put it to dry and the time was 4 hours!!! and if there's anything i hate more about front-loading was that i can't open the door. So i ended up power-off the machine wait a few minutes then re-set again. does it take that long to dry?? - once i put towels in there to dry for 1.5 hours and it was still a bit damp when it came out which was rather strange. the setting was the cotton 30 degrees by default. - also do anyone of you have any funny smell on your clothes after drying? -

hi macbart: haha, unpacking is a real pain!! i can't believe we had so many things from the storage. i unpacked everything in that weekend we moved as i couldn't stand the sight of boxes lying all over. the only thing which is still lying around is my books as i haven't found a bookshelf/casing for it Yeahhh! I shop a lot at NTUC TB and Carrefour at Plaza Singapura too! haha. I haven't been to anchorpoint, will probably check it out this weekend. have you visited the redhill market. before we moved in, whenever i told my local friends that we bought a flat here, they wld give me this horror look and later ask me why I buy Redhill when it had a 'shady' past - apparently it was an area with a lot of paikias and gangsters ... haha, not that i'm worried but i think I saw a number of full-bodied tattoo-ed men at the market
-
nope, i had to pay delivery charge of $50 which is alright considering its only 2 items which i bought and they're relatively cheap compared to other items sold on their website.

hi all i moved in just a week before christmas and its been a hectic past 2 weeks but we're finally settling in comfortably. I'm starting to like this place. I discovered a few good food places as well (Food court opposite my place has awesome claypot chicken rice - which is so so rare and hard to find in singapore), at redhill market etc. the shop & save is a bit dissapointing - it's too small for me .. haha maybe because I'm too used to the Fairprice where i used to live in Tiong Bahru and AMK On my way one day in the cab, the cab driver brought me thru another way using Jalan Bukit Merah. I passed by a Bukit Merah Town Centre - saw a few nice shops there so maybe I'll scout around there one day. Looks like I do have a lot more exploring to do right now i have a big headache because there is water leaking thru my MB toilet and onto my floor laminates and nobody can detect/find out where the source of the leak is. Plumber say its aircon, we ripped off one of the walls and found no pipes there so aircon say its now back to the plumber ... bahh!

$350 a piece - this is cheaper than comfort furniture if i'm not wrong. there's a delivery charge as well for items below a certain amount.
