  1. Bought an NB (sounds like shoes) swivel bracket for TV while walking inside big box electronics store. My old bracket was already swivel-able. However it has very limited angle that I can't watch TV from the kitchen. Spent a whole day fixing this up. Unfortunately I cannot use back the old bracket mounting points so you can still see 4 bolts sticking out of the wall there. Oh well,...the TV will hide it. Quite Heart pain for my wall to have so many holes put thru it just for a TV. I kept the mounting points so I could mount the old bracket back if this new one starts to give way. Now I can watch tv while having dinner! That's the main purpose of fitting this. And in the previous post I mention i had invisible grilles installed. It's there. Can you see it? In normal viewing position. Slightly lower then before this fix.
  2. Initially I wanted to put 3M prestige solar films for prevention of Yellowing furniture and heat rejection. After thinking thru a couple of things: 1. possibility of cosmetic defects, bubble, debris trap inside, 2. film coverage not right to edge of window frame. 3. Lesser transparency/visibility at night, 4. warranty 3yrs only 5. the cost Im slightly OCD, The potential cosmetic defect/s is not something I think i can accept. And I can always renew my furniture. For my kitchen window, The fridge is actually positioned there so already blocked 90% of the see thru area of the window. I have plans to just buy from self fix some dark film to paste myself. But that will be after I make the fridge "rollable" first. I have plans to convert my failed washing machine pedestal to be a fridge roller My kitchen(service yard side) faces the opposite flat I'm thinking of putting those 1-way see thru films like those you see in Movies whereby the criminals get interrogated and the witness watch inside the room. Wonder if this is available hehe. Anyway I have the intention to put curtains or roller blinds in my service yard also.
  3. Oh no... I already bought algot (just the side and top rails and a 80cm board) some time back. Hopefully within 100 day return period. Was intending to purchase the other accessories after those are installed as have not decided how I wanted to configure it then... I have not gone around installing it as I was waiting to get my all my window grills to be done first. And the grills were waiting for window films which I eventually decided Not to put films. Today the grills were just installed. I did invisible grills with Le Home. The fixed invisible grills are okay however the sliding ones at my service yard wasn't done to my satisfaction. Going to get them to fix it first. Looks like my algot install will be delayed.
  4. Thanks I went thru the brochure. The standard wire rack Looks to be of similar quality as excel. Though it have a lot more other designs which offers more customization possibility. Definitely worth considering if the price is good.
  5. A small update to my guest bath. Added a small diffuser and a flower deco on top of a piece of scrap pine wood I had left over from the DIY bench. Also added a bird on the WC to help whistle if there is any difficulty A bird to look at birds Added some DIY artwork using silver sequins and grey ribbons (Idea from livelovediy blog) but color match to my bathroom. The WC side looks less bare now.
  6. Thanks, I received your Pm. I was actually refering to the pull out wire basket and condiment rack. but it's ok, I looked up the excel link you provided and compared with Ikea's utrusta wire basket. i think their price is pretty ok considering the quality looks better From the pictures, Excel has 2 versions, I think the quality of excel slider mechanism(even the cheaper one) is somewhat Ikea utrusta could not match, thus the huge price difference. i should also mention your contractor definitely did the right thing to wait for your own purchase internal racks to arrive before they start as they need to measure physical item and build the cabinet carcass width to suit. My situation is different, carcass already done, trying to find else something else to suit. Dimensions is critical. Most likely it will have to be Ikea, since mine was customed to Ikea door fronts.
  7. DIY for the 1st 2. Most Contractors wouldn't wanna do these. it will end up costing 2 arms and 1 leg, you wouldn't take it up either. Not sure what the 3rd one is about... if it's Windows or grills installation i think got plenty will do it. If its carpentry like barn Windows then I dunno... Too unique.
  8. King&bin, Could you please pm the link for the TB kitchen pull out cabinet? thinking of modding one of my kitchen Bottom cabinet that is casement door with one so as to fully utilize the unused upper space.
  9. I think I have similar sized kitchen as yours. Apart from the kitchen the others looks big compared to mine. How many sq meters is your 3 rm? You can consider remove the walls of the service yard to extend the kitchen space thru. This was something that I didn't do but sort of regretted now as severely lack counter space. I have to "line dry", hang my wok and frying pans on my clothes rack after washing. Your floor plan looks like a good candidate for open kitchen concept. A lot of fellow RT members do that and looks very nice.
  10. I will choose laminate if I'm very particular on color accuracy. Can't comment much about door closing but you can inspect the clearances of the door When it's closed and estimate if that is more than the thickness of the laminate. Painting is too skill dependent and good paint to get a good result, especially if the door is not removed during the painting process and in vertical position. You may not be happy with the brush lines thereafter. My doors(hdb given) came just like yours. I also contemplated all those options as I didn't like it but eventually I chose to just live with it for a while and perhaps change it a year or 2 later.
  11. Not as neat at the back means? Do you have pics of how it looked like previously? i'll just be doing something like this. Just a shelf directly above the washer, for folding clothes/ Ironing... and another shelf above that for detergent and iron. http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/rooms/laundry/give-your-laundry-a-lift-1364302524678/ Not going to do too high since it will interfere with the HDB clothes rack. The other side will be the pantry and also where my cleaning stuff will go. Still thinking of what to use, Ivar racks or just a kitchen trolley and how to isolate cleaning stuff from pantry dry food too.
  12. Entryway done... Took quite a fair bit of time DIYing the 1yr baby photo collage. thereafter to save costs I got it printed out on paper and then DIY ModPodged onto canvas. It's a botched job actually, with huge air pockets between the photo and the canvas but seems to be not too obvious from photo). *note to self: pay $$$ to get professionals to print on canvas instead. Fully completed hall with entryway. Sorry picture is kinda dark as outside is bright in the afternoon and I don't have dark out curtains. Service yard is next. Being a fan of Ikea stuff and I'm decided to go for an algot laundry racks. It will be a month away before I can install them as I need to do up the grills first. And before grills I need to do up window films.... Anyone have good films to recommend? Thinking of 3M prestige films right now though it's kinda pricey but I generally like their products.
  13. Usually instant heaters doesnt output high water pressure as they need to constrict the water flow to heat it up effectively. You can try directly connecting the water source to the grohe mixer instead of the heater to see if thats the case.
  14. My air con selection is base on brand reputation and physical depth(slim). So its daikin. I think it was 3 ticks. I did not really bother about the energy conservation as every equipment has a tick rating. Compressor has its own and different size fancoils have their own rating. And usually there is not much choice once u decided on a particular brand and have the sizes calculated to suit your room sizes. Hob and hood oven i just went the same brand for ease of purchase and consistent look. Only cook on weekends so performance not important haha. As long as it functions and customer service is good.
  15. I got it from amazon. See this link https://www.amazon.com/Jackloc-JAC001-Window-Restrictor-White/dp/B005DKMPTG
  16. One of the most impressive bachelor pads ive ever seen(on a tblog at least)... Ok im a mountain turtle. It must have cost quite a bomb. Would you revealing how much the reno costs? Just the first digit would do.
  17. Looking forward to see your pics for the service yard. Im going to heavy mod my sy soon. Though i have some preliminary ideas for a smoother work flow to transit clothes from laundry basket to washer to drying line and then to storage buckets to iron board. My small SY is also gonna be part pantry and cleaning gear storage. May be able to get some inspiration from yours (especially the price since u can do it under 100 bucks, im very interested).
  18. Sure, I can imagine it is not easy to grout a big gap, with gravity working against it too? Grout may droop from its own weight if it takes a significant time to dry.
  19. how is this tap? Looking at the water coming out from the tap makes me daydream of relaxing by the pool. Can you Provide the link?
  20. The bedroom... And., Yes the bed only looks This tidy every Sunday. due to the mini L shape WIW blocking the view I'm not able to capture more of the bedroom. My phone is not wide angle enough.
  21. Thanks for your compliments. here are some more other lived in areas. My coffee corner,... Happens to be my dinning area too... The prep to get the earlier pic... I'll leave out the gore on the other side. I severely lack counter space. It's total mayhem just to get a simple meal done. And after, like 2hrs of cooking and 1 hour of cleaning...
  22. Yes it's pasted on both sides. However, the joins are welded. im still working on furnishing the entryway next and then the service yard (mainly buffing up my washer pedestal and making a convertible pantry cum ironing board. This will take a month I estimate... Bedroom, kitchen and bathroom didn't really change much except with more daily use stuff displayed, I'll try to get a picture over the weekend. kid room I will probably do it up end of the year or next year... Have not bought a bed yet. Child still sleeps with me. it's a mahjong room for now.
