Carpenter has taken necessary measurement. So my cabinets n wardrobe should be up by another 2 to 3 wks. Can i check have you inform HDB on the date to surrender the current flat? I am thinking of extending to a later date. Dun wish to move in so soon... as so many flats have yet to undergo their renov yet. I heard we can extend by another month. Any idea?

I will leave the price issue aside first. Wait till he finish most work... THEN discuss price with him. I am afraid that if i bargain the additional price with him now he's going to markup higher for other additional items later in the renovation jus to cover his cost...

!! POOR U!! Wat attitude is that???? I would hv stop the conversation after the 2nd sms. Cant imagine if u had sign up with him n he still gives u such attitude during the renov period. We as the customer has the right to ask for quotation. SERIOUSLY CANNOT TAKE THE ATTITUDE OF THIS GUY LEH!

Will need to talk to them lor. Yet to discuss the additional sum lor. Maybe my contractor has purposely add extras.... becos he was complaining i hv pick too many colours for my house paint n ask us to pay him some extras. But he cannot blame me. They hv stated "unlimited colours" in my contract. And i hv been pressing him unlimited means how many colours. He keep saying " Up to u la, how many colours can u use? At most 7". But guess wat, I choose total 10 colours including gloss paint. I will press him to reduce or absorb the extra charges.. I m willing to give in to pay some extras but not $1k+.

Anyone knows the market price for installing false ceiling? My contractor has given me an additional bill slammed with a cost of $1K+ for putting up additional L-box in bedroom, one 4" thick artifical wall at the dinning area and one artificial wall at the master bedroom jus beside the wardrobe area! Worse of all, the one at the master bedroom was not at my request!. My contractor said it will look nicer if we want to put the bedhead there. If not, there will be a gap between the bedhead n the wall. They hv not seek our approval to install that n now they billing me for IT!! Should i pay? I need to know wat's the market rate for installing lighting points too. How much did yr id's or contractor charged you? I dun want my contractor to give me another shock later.

Hello Vince, my renov is more then half completed. Contractors need to do chemical wash first, then install toilet accessories, then will install the capentry work (which they hv yet to take measurement). And the finally coat of painting n touch up.... n everything shuld be done. I guess. Which unit are u at? can go look see look see? I m interested in your toilet bowl. How much u willing to let go? since we both r fr SERS, can hv special special price or not? hee. I bought 22 down lights & 8 normal lights for store/kitchen/bedroom at $1084. i guess Vince has got a better deal then me leh...

The light bulbs can be energy saving kind or halogen kind

Went up to inspect my new place late last nite. The lightings are all up...Painting work half done (1st coat). My contractors called me to tell me if i m seriously considering the Green color i chose for my master room. He commented like "VERY VERY GREEEENNN". So after much considering n "meeting", we hv decided to change color. N my contractor will charged me for the extras.. wonder how much extra will that be.

For those checking yr defects, pls check yr store room's power point too. My power point came loose when i was trying to remove my lamp from the switch. So lousy.

Actually i prefer the ikea ones...those i hv now were chosen by my mom n i hv to give in. Btw, if anyone is planning to change their current toilet bowl system, pls let me know if i can "chop" the existing one supplied by HDB. I need to replace my toilet system at another location. Been looking for this particular brand "Potex" for a period of time leow. Seems like only HDB will supply this brand.

Ya, guess we talking abt the same item. Those lights will are gd for toilet, storeroom etc. The sad thing is i already got my lightings BEFORE i saw the cheap lights in Ikea . My toilet lighting (simple simple kind) costed my $29. Really when i saw the ikea ones.

I m using PLC for my dining area so nvr really look into the hanging types. But u can try jalan beseh area. I find them cheaper then geylang or balestier. Try ikea too. They do hv nice lightings n some are dirt cheap. I got a 3 bulb halogen lights from ikea on sun n they cost only $39. I guess the same lights will cost like $100 in other lighting place. My place is in a mess no. Floors are covered, dust every where. Yet to take any picts. Like nothing much to take leh... n doubt will look nice now.. maybe when the painting is out, i will try take some picts.

From my personal experience, "YES, IDs do earn a comm!". I went to a light shop in Jalan Besah. The listed price was rather X. The sales guy tell me that price is before discount. The price stated was $235. Guess wat's the price after discount...... $135. My eye balls was going round in circles... n was saying "WOW, yr mark-up is so high!!". The explanation straight from the horse's mouth was "That stated price are for those who come in with IDs". So those who hvn't buy yr lightings... DON'T go with your IDs. I hv got quotes for my lightings ranging from $1350 to $750, stating the similar items, mainly PLC lights.

I hv engaged Gim Wee. Now in the process of renovating already. Mine came to abt $25k++. If anyone is engaging them, my advise is to speak directly to their boss, Bernard.

Haulage is about $1k for 4 rooms. If you hv got HDB to screed the flooring for 3 bedrooms.. u will only need to pay only abt $650 for haulage. It's only a one time payment make either to your contractors or to the HDB appointed person. Check with your contractor or IDs. happy, just yesterday, i had 1 touting uncle (TU) practically chasing n standing infront of our car after he recognised my brother from the few previous visit we had to the site. All we did was tell him we already engage a contractor leow... n he had no choice but to walk away... it works.. try it

Yesterday i went with my renovator to Tanglin Halt to see their current worksite. The units there has FANTASTIC view. and i really mean Super fantastic. Upon comparison, our Jalan Membina is no where near. sigh....

In actual fact, if you cut thro the carpark blk (think is 26B), u dun hv to pass by Blk 27A. Straight out u hit Blk 27B. less pestering uncles.

If you drive, u can actually parked below Blk 27B. If you walk, u can cut thro underneath the carpark block, go thro' a makeshift aluminium door. U will get to Blk 27B. Actually Blk 27B has many many flats under renov now.
