i can imagine this year's 08-August-08 8:08am will be a popular time slot for would-be rom-ers?

oh this is an interesting topic... A few years ago when i shifted into my new place then, a friend gave me a feng shui plant as a gift. That Wed, i struck 4D 2nd price! Subsequently, when i relocated overseas (and had no intention of bringing the plant along), i gave the plant to my in-laws and they struck 4D 1st price that same weekend... Good luck and huat ah!

In Japan, people automatically stand on the left side of the escalator... Also, talking on the mobile while in the train is considered rude - tell that to some of the schoolboys i saw on one of the morning train ride to work, they were even blatantly blasting music from their cellphone!

inverse correlation between stock performance and gold prices too.... flight to safety! Saw this on fundsupermart... !!

I've got my tyre pressure cap stolen on all 4 tyres of my 05 crv! Luckily i noticed it early and got it replaced, or else could have caused me more inconvenience! Since its also the monsoon period now, i think its easy to go with your option 4, NEVER wash car... hahaha! !!

This is one of the latest from Sony - the smallness of the speakers (golf ball size) caught my attention... looks good but i don't vouch for the sound / PQ! Sony DVD Home Theatre System Check out the 5.1 from Pioneer too!

Before you get engulfed by the world of all the tech stuff, you should try take a step back - go to any of the showrooms (best denki / courts / HN etc) and compare the tv side by side! Don't just buy for the sake of the tv specs but for what you see / like...

by the way, there's a firmware update for philips dvp5986k. I can fwd the link if you can't find...

Agreed... 1K is tough... check out the AV equipment sale in Xtremeplace and echoloft... Unless you're not particular abt the hdmi stuff / sound quality then go for something mainstream like Pioneer or Sony.

I have to agree... the last time (my one and final time) there, i was being served by the chinese national worker, he was fairly polite whereas the boss in the background doesn't seem interested at all. Generally, the service there was poor, slow and disappointing below standard - its not as if they had many customers in the shop, i was the only one there at that time on a weekday afternoon. Since Hoe Kee is a chain / franchise, if you're complaining, might as well also letting their main office (HQ) be aware of this incident.

Here's some pics taken over the new year weekend... Light @ entrance Entrance (clock, concealed shoe cabinet + concealed entrance to storeroom) my grey sofa / curtain Sofa relfection in the mirror and my white subwoofer !! Surround speakers / sofa my AV stuff... my self-designed TV console... Hallway featuring a bench (cum concealed storage space) and my radio... A closer look at my philips cd player... my dining table / area not exactly part of the reno but since i've taken pics, here's my baby's mattress... and roamer! Well, you can see the workmanship from the pics of my tv console and storage bench along the walkway. Obviously i wouldn't say he's the best but definitely good enough for me! As mentioned earlier, i was my own interior designer so had to provide drawings / measurements etc for my carpenter to work on so if the design looks weird, then that has to be my fault!

Maybe you want to try your luck at Sim Lim Tower? you might just get lucky!

I think generally Philips and Pioneer will play almost all your dvds including those pi-rated ones made in m'sia...I'm currently using Philips DVP5986K and so far so happy.

There's 365 days in a year and 24hours a day - we typically spend one third of our time sleeping so if you amortise the price accordingly, you're paying no more than $1 for a good night sleep? worth it? only you can say... z z z z z z z

Need Help In Home Theatre System Set Up!
niwdehos replied to chrispy's topic in Electronics & Electricals
here it is in wiki... Its something good to have but not a must, the "cleaner" power source as a result of using is meant to improve the dynamics of your av equipment! There was a thread in echoloft forum discussing the performance of adding a conditioner but i can't seem to locate it now... (probably taken offline!) anyway, a popular (and affordable) brand is Xindak... -

Not forgetting a power conditioner to hook up all your expensive equipments... then maybe one solid universal controller to rule them all... -
