Normal Washing Machine Or The Front Load Washer Cum Dryer
teodami replied to GraCieGaL's topic in Electronics & Electricals
my htb love a frontload but eventually we got a topload. Topload wash faster, can stop in the middle of washing. Front load takes almost twice the time to wash. He also worry that next time pregnant, if he not around or what and have to wash clothes, still must bend up and down -

very nice! steady leh, have a room specially for mahjong. Haha. -
he is rude! black granite top is nice! we wanted to get it but our ID told us not to coz any scratches will b very visible. In the end, we settle for thse greyish type. We almst sign up with them but the lady who served us quoted us too expensive. They have this basic package which already cost almost $9k which i feel most of the items i dn't require for my new premium flat. She insisted that it is necessary and tell me that most of the items does not cost much. i asked her for a breakdown of the prices but end up, still $8k+. But the additional items that she quoted are the lowest among the ID i shortlisted. I would prefer her because she seems more experienced than my current ID but seeing how reno going on now, i am glad we didn't make the wrong choice

we got a inverter in the end. The salesperson mention that if only 1 room is on every night, a non-inverter will do just fine. 2 rooms & above is best to get an inverter. Persnally, i feel that only thing constant is the rise in electricity bill. No doubt the cost saving costs in few years later. We don't change air con that frequent too. So, unless $$ is tight, i think can cnsider inverter

Do we have to choose a date to 'officially' move in before we can have our house warming? i am planning ROM and house warming on the same day (save $$ lah) but we won't be moving in the new house permanently first - mainly for weekends till later. Which way should be the correct way? Officially move in - house warming or house warming and than find a good day to move in

yr contractor's quotation is cheap! have u checked out their workmanship? if it is good, i think can consider. Mine cost more than $1k for the false ceiling - designer's price..hahahaha buy lightings will cost around $2k -
I was expecting them to replace my main door but they had only touch up the dents. -_- now i realise one part of the wood is cracked at the side. I think never-ending war with HDB. Some defects i am asking my ID to help me rectify. I can't wait for HDB to take their own sweet time to do it.

'kai Men' - On The Very First Day Before Renovation
teodami replied to h4happy's topic in Geomancy/Fengshui
oh, i never realise my typo. we burn joss stick and incense paper outside the door. Say our name, bought this house and will be moving in. Than say a lot of good words like pin an lah, etc etc. After that, my HTB open the door and we had his baby nephew to do lion dance for us. Haha, for the fun out of it coz he love lion dance. Than, he roll the pineapple all over the house. Afer that, we leave the joss-stick, fa gao, fruits at the middle of the living room. The next day, we went to clean the new house. Than was supposed to sprinkle rice and green bean at the 4 corners. But we didn't want to dirty it anymore. So we pour rice, green beans and golden coins in paper cups and place it at the 4 corners. No special day was chosen. It was more for convenience. We collected our keys on Saturday and went to open after that. I read that even days will be good enough - saturday and it was on a 8th. -

no chanting. We just burn incense and paper at the door step and pray for good things. Pin Pin An An only. After that, enter the room and roll pineapple. -

my mum said usually the contractor will clean for us is there a difference between the ceremony for 'initial open door' and 'tong du'? We did a simple ceremony for first time open door. Soon HDB will come to do rectification and concurrently we will start our renovation. THinking of choosing a weekend and just do some simple praying. Is the ceremony similar? -

ya i realise that if we take taxi to our estate have to make sure that the taxi uncle go by Jalan boon Lay, turn left to the temple and than turn left again to St 64. Cannot come by other way if not, have to make U-turn. This thing can feedback to who? Our area got RC 1 or not? Hahahah, we should all join and ask our MP fight for it! -

tinyeyes, i agree. Sometimes when i turn left into our estate, than at the same time got a car coming out from the multi-storey carpark side. Can be quite dangerous if not alert enough. Now still okie becoz occupancy rate not that high. I can't imagine when everyone move in that time. Probably that's the problem with only 1 entrance. Shootmie, i think it's quite cramp to have 1 but no harm asking for suggestions from yr ID. but pre-fab bathroom can put bathroom mah? -

Shootmie welcome! I am wondering. Since our entrance is so condo like, we should probably write to our MP and ask them to have a name for the entire estate. like some areas where they call is XXX court, what orchid etc etc -

if u have a confirm date than u can submit some proof to HDB I think if u never take loan, should be more 'lenient' We are planning to extend till Aug at least. REad from singapore brides that rectification takes about 1-2 months. I am starting my renovation after CNy. if really 1-2 months rectification + 1-2 month renovation, i think Jun/Jul than will okie. can we do renovation and rectification concurrently? -

After that, while HDB is doing the rectification, we will settle the drawings and commence reno... Can't wait for our home to be done up!! -
