  1. mmm.... with regards to architecture designers... i guess it all depends on their budget and cost effective features and structures. gov normally don give them a really high budget so they probably need to sacrifice a bit on materials here and there but rest assure they dare not compromise safety due to HDB's stringent checks
  2. really so cheap? include installation anot? but i dono if my small living room which is 4.5m by 4.5m can use such a big fan anot. shall drop by to have a look one of these days. but actually wanted elmark but lots and lots of dealler says elmark's cust svc is realy realy bad
  3. I went to audio hse today and was attended by a salesguys. he recommended me the toshiba's top load washer saying that it can actually function as good as a front load washer in terms of the cleanliness becoz of it's triple air pulsating motion. can any experts out here verify this statement. actually i'm more interested in front load than a top load becoz of it's tanglefree and water saving feature. but i probably can't choose front load becoz most of them are at 60cm width as i have a width constrain in my kitchen. So no choice, might need to look into front load washer
  4. actually it all depends on the skill of the workers when they do the opening for the PLCs downlights. another thing to consider is the equal distribution of light ray. always try to install lights in pairs (i'e' left and right) or else u'll end up with shadow on either side. this is especially important when it's a place for reading
  5. Thanks a lot for ur info. i haven asked them to deliver my lights yet becoz false ceiling not up yet. reno currently ongoing....
  6. ok. thanks alot. might consider the option of changing my magnectic ballast to electronic. but then does PLC downlights use electronic or magnetic ballast
  7. can PLC downlights use electronic ballast or it's by default using electronic ballast
  8. how much do i have to top up for changing to electronic and how much can i actually save in terms of percentage?
  9. Hi all, i've a burning question to ask bout magnetic and electronic ballast. Need all the experts advise on this topic because tried to hunt high and low for answers to this question but can't find the answers. Hope i could help some of the ppl out here by starting this thread. Let's all save some money on our bills. 1. Can i know how much enery effiency is electronic vs magnetic ballast? 2. What's the average cost of a magnetic ad electrical ballast? 3. Can this electronic ballast be used on PLC downlights, round fluorescent lights? 4. How much savings when using electronic ballast against magnetic ballast?
  10. hi all, i've heard from some agents that there'll be a good bargain for internet subscription during sitex 2007. guess they are giving away some really good stuffs like desktop PC, laptops. it's gng to be better than comex 2007. so u can wait if u want to get real good deals.
  11. thanks all for all the valuable inputs. guess i can now go shopping for my fans. wat's the rough price guide for the fans including installation
  12. thanks for all the info. i just bought my ariston 30L storage heater, ellane cooker hob, hood, kitchen tap and sink from poh joo as recommended by most of the ppl in this forum. really cheaper than the shop "chuan heng" which my contractor recommended. my hse currently under reno too. contractor just ordered sand. haven really started work. guess he'll be coordinating the wiring tml i guess. hope he'll do a good job. btw, which unit are u at?
  13. reasonable price. but u haven tell mi from which shop
  14. okie. let's hope they fit. shall hop by ikea and buy that IKEA LEGAN TAP. rare to find a mixer tap so sheap. haha....
  15. hi all, i just bought my downlights, dining, MBR, kitchen, living room and toilets lights from this shop named extreme lightings. cost bout 600++ for 20downlights 2 square designer lights for MBR 2 milo tin for toilet 2 hamburger moonlights for kitchen 1 dining table light 20 square frosted glass downlights 2 hamburger lights for 2 bedroom. consider this cheap but i haven got my lights delivered becoz my new hse currently undergoing renovation. will onli ask them to deliver when contractor has fixed the L-box n false ceiling. has anyone actually bought lights from this shop before? need some feedbacks and precaution when they deliver the lights
  16. wow... ur fan with lights is so nice. what brand is it and the model number how much does it cost and from which shop. i really liked it alot
  17. mmm... ok. actually i've been to jln besar. went to chuan heng to look see. it was recommended by my contractor who is my kopi kaki. he offered to buy for me. just pass him the brand and model number of the stuffs to buy. dono if it's a good idea becoz i do not know if the price would be jacked up. and my contractor told mi that he'll be able to get a lower price. basically i'm aiming for a ellane hob n hood which cost $528. ariston TI 30litres storage heater $220 60cm s/s sink with tap which i do not know the price yet. wat do u guys think? to buy myself or get my contractor to do it. oops... forgot to ask you something. u're using panasonic non-inverter aircon right? have u started using it? i'm pondering whether i shd get panasonic sys 3. heard quite a number of good remarks though. but just need some assurance
  18. ermm... wat i meant was the diameter of the threading on the tap. most of our hdb taps come with a standard size. (i.e. if u buy any tap from any hardware shop, u'll be able to screw them in without any problem.)
  19. mmm... ok. but i'm thinking of getting those fan with lights. from wat i know, the lights will lower the fan a little bit more. i do hv L-boxes but won't be fixing the fan on the L-box. it'll be fixed on the ceiling
  20. Hi all, just wanna hear some comments and experience on ceiling fan. I went to a shop at balestier and asked the shop owner whether 2.6 m is too low for 5blades ceiling fan. Then he said it's better to get 3blades ceiling fan becoz they are generally higher compared to 5blades becoz they don't have a long holder. I'm wondering if what he said was true becoz i've seen so many hses with 5blades ceiling fan. Ans note that my flooring is not done yet and it's already 2.6m from ceiling to floor.
  21. hi guys... haven been posting for a long time. i just spend 600++ on my lights on sat n sun. shopped ard balestier for my downlights n diningon saturday then sunday went there to shop for hamburger light for room, square lights for MBR, moonlight for kitchen n milolight for bathroom. total spent close to 700. but quite worth it lah. now thinking of where i can get my sink, tap, central storage heater, gas hob n hood. thinking of getting my renovator to get for me bt afraid he'l chop mi. note why i call him renovator instead of ID. becoz he's just a contractor. all the design and etc were mostly instigated by mi. except for the shoe rack cum partition he designed(on drawing). My reno is very simple and considered cheap. estimated should be ard 15k for mimimal false ceiling, L-box, kitchen cabinet, flooring and a partial partition.
  22. but i might not be taking ikea's sink. dono if ikea's tap is compatible with normal sink.
  23. hi... anyone here know whether IKEA's Kitchen sink tap is compatible with most local pipings or it's special size. http://www.ikea.com.sg/products/product_display.asp?id=3470 I find this a good deal becoz most kitchen kitchen taps will easily cost 100 over dollars. Even a normal kitchen sink tap without mixer would easily cost over 50bucks. my only worry is that whether IKEA is using special size fittings.
  24. I'm starting my reno at blk 91 on the 25th. by the way, anyone staying in unit 308. having a hard time thinking bout my main bedroom layout and kitchen layout too... sianz....
