my tv feature wall was painted only. not so much of a feature wall to talk about. the tv console bought from beach road's furniture mall and it was a gift. but of course, you are most welcome to come and visit my hse. can play nintendo wii together as well. i'll be home ard the evening after 7.30pm most of the time. btw, becoz my room's tv is located quite far away from the tv point thus i can't use the supplied tv cable. :'( haiz... seems like i probably need to relocate my tv point or go to sim lim tower to get high quality coaxial cables. how much does it cost to relocate tv point? -

hi everyone, sorry to sidetrack a bit. anyone has problem with tv reception? my room's tv is terrible. having double images. i bought a 10m coaxial cable from harvey norman but it has double image esp on U channel and then bought a 15m from our area nearby shop though double vision lessen but image is terribly blur.(akin to VCR quality) then i brought my tv closer and used hdb supplied coaxial cable and everything is crisp sharp. so could the problem be the length of my coaxial cable or the quality of the coaxial cable or due to electrical interference with the coaxial cable. Btw, my tv is 32inch Philips HD ready tv. Pls help..... thanks so much. -

It's not just rubbish alone. i've seen irresposible dog owner that let his dog poo on the grass patch along the road without clearing up the mess. it's NOT fertilisers for the grass or trees in any case. one classic case was that a dog owner did not notice i was looking at him as i was sitting at a corner of the void deck and he had plastic bags in his hands but after his dog had done it's "business"... he actually looked ard and thought no one was saw him, thus went off without clearing the faeces. i guess if he noticed someone was looking at him then probably he would clear the faeces. -

hi all.... i just found something not right with regards to the toilet bowl piping system. i realise that normally for older estates the piping used to be U-shaped instead of the normal slanted pipings. just go to ur toilet and stand in front of ur toilet bowl and look up. u shd be able to see ur neighbour upstair's toilet bowl waste piping. that's how i realise that the piping is piped slanted instead of the regular U-shape. I dono if this is the normal kind of piping for all older estates but it's at least true for my parent's hse in woodlands. perhaps there's nothing wrong with the toilet bowls HDB gave but more of a piping problem. Anyone who has a plumber fren or is a plumber himself inside this forum? pls do shed some light on this issue. if the piping is really the problem then i guess we might wanna alert hdb bout this. i haven changed my toilet bowl as yet. but i do hv flushing problem as well. just that i will always flush twice to make sure whatever "ahem" is fully flushed out. i guess those that has changed their toilet bowl twice or more shd have a better stand to clear the air with hdb becoz no point keep changing toilet bowl when "perhaps" the problem probably lie with the piping itself. -
actually can i know if latex is better? or pocket spring

actually the mrt sound is not so much of a problem as long as ur windows are shut. but even if u are facing away from the mrt, other sound such as the school's early morning anthem or etc would still be noisy as well. as for afternoon sun, there's not much u can do becoz even with solar film on ur windows, it would still heat up the external walls which in turn would heat ur hse's interior walls. so given these two conditions, u either compromise on one of it or u just give up n find hse elsewhere rather than regret for at least 5yrs down the road if u made a wrong choice. but i needa point out that u might not be so lucky to get a queue number the next time round -

hahaha... tupperware clubs is for ah sohs and aunties.... mmm... and the chairman for the club is??? so far haven seen much aunties when i took the lift everyday. but i know that 89 and 90 has quite a large number of them though. Btw, i've seen ppl pushing sheng siong's trolley into the lift. wonder if they actually return them back. but frankly speaking, i did that once too when i bought so much things for chinese new year so no choice had to push the trolley home and push it back the next day..... -

So far only been to a gathering at cartoonwayne's hse with some of the members here. -

i stay on the 36th floor facing the mrt track. can still hear the mrt tracks but it's not that loud. from wat i observe.... the sound gets less "concentrated" as u go higher but no doubt u be able to hear it. it would sound more "echo" at higher floor but at lower floors... it's really loud n clear but just need time to get used to it. same as most ppl here, i find the schools early morning bells and etc most irritating. can even hear them even with windows closed. but not too bad for me becoz i need get up early but my wife poor thing becoz she wakes up at 8am for work. -

neighbours so far ok. except for the one directly opp my unit. Not too much of smiles or nodding of head even when i took the initiative. Generally i guess our neighbourhood is surrounded by old ppl due this is relatively an old estate. but glad to find lots of very nice ppl in this forum. we even had a meet up earlier this yr. but sorry for not turning up for THUM. due to too busy schedule.... my apologies. maybe we can all meet up n discuss on our new neighbour coming in after the jan ballot n key collection -

i guess sometimes it's just different ppl handling the calls when we call the helpdesk. so some say and some say can't. basically the best way is to find out who we actually spoke to on the helpdesk. find those cust svc officers that say can lor. i guess it's just that those cust svc officer do not wish to do so much perhaps "paperwork" having to fill up forms to raise work order for the number retention to be done. well.... come to think of it, isn't this the usual kind of problem we face every now and then. but since the fact is that it CAN BE DONE. then there shouldn't be any excuse of it cannot be done. becoz it's not like we are snatching phone numbers from existing subscribers or we are switching starhub's digital voice numbers to singtel's numbers. WHY CAN'T WE SHIFT OUR APPLES FROM ONE BASKET TO ANOTHER BASKET. aren't they the same apple? haha... getting kinda crappy. just an analogy. Forgive me if u find it crappy or etc. And lastly no offence to telcos. I'm just stating "facts" -

YEC is not politically linked as the definition "elections". An election in YEC simply means that any members of public can become commitee of YEC. Unlike other committees like CCMC, WEC, CSC, SCEC etc. YEC is formed based on nomination. Meaning new members that wishes to come into YEC needs to be nominated into the commitee and eventually the committee itself will nominate it's chairman and other key appointment holders etc. It has nothing to do with politics. YEC helps to organise activities for youth too. Eg. We can ask school students to participate in activities that were organised. things like collect newspaper, help resident clean up their house, collect and distribute daily necessities to old folks home or senior citizens etc. As for those benefits and bonuses of being a volunteer, i'm not so sure too. But one thing is that, u get to attend course at place called NACLI. it's free and it'll equip u better skills to become a better community leader By the way, I have an event to recommend to all of you here. Title: Weight Management to keep Fit Venue: AMK CC Date/Time: 12 APR ( SAT ) 130pm - 530pm Free Goody bags - include 1 kg of brown rice, salt, olive oil, coffee, etc Belly Dancing Performance, Free health screening, Bazaar Registration: $7 for members or $8 for non-members Call 64529644 or Register at AMK CC. -

My wife and i are both grassroot leader too. We joined AMK YEC for more than one term already. but the thing is that for YEC, members must be less than 35years old. you can visit our webpage at Our YEC webpage CCMC=community centre management committee WEC=Woman Executive commitee YEC=Youth executive committee From wat i know CCMC not so easy to be one of the committee members because need recommendation to go in. As for YEC, it's the only committee in PA that allows public to join in when there's an election every two years. Meaning u just need to apply to go in but elected members will have to vote for all their key appointment bearers. mmm.... did we get my queue number 39 in balloting due to we're grassroot leaders or just pure lucky. (note: i did not apply under grassroots leader priority scheme) Btw, there's one 24hrs indian coffeeshop nearby tanglin halt road. can't rem the block number. The serving is quite big. My wife ate chicken murtabak while i ate nasi pattaya. ym yum. not bad. guess it's probably the nearest 24hr coffeeshop nearby. Anymore 24hrs coffeeshop in our area?
