  1. we have finally received the quotation over the weekend, but have not handed our keys cos we needed time for consideration. based on the itemized list, we obtained quotes from 2 other individual contractors and both managed to cut the total by only a few hundreds.. so our original contractor's quote is reasonable it seems. we're more or less decided on going ahead with our intended contractor whom we feel comfortable with.. as well as to not delay the reno start date further. currently waiting for his final contract print-out, and one last laminate sample to choose. will probably be signing the final contract this week and give him the deposit + key together.
  2. Thank u i have the quote from neighbours of the same unit layout. will compare it to the quote we get through 'referral' of contractor.
  3. Our contractor asked for the house keys to start work. However, he has not provided the quotation or engagement agreement/contract. Should we give him the keys'? If he quotes us a sky high price later, are we obliged to pay since he has performed the work?
  4. Hello everyone, i'm new to the forum. Waiting for contractor's final quotation and will be beginning on the renovation journey pretty soon. Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask, admins - please shift my post if it's not properly classified, thanks! We were recommended a curtain company by our friends and it happened to be the same contact which our contractor recommended. Should we quote the contractor's name to get a better price? Or do contractors earn commission from such recommendation and in turn the commission will get embedded into the curtain quotation to us?
