Me and hubby just went to Raffles Medical last week too cos' we kenna food poisoning. I only went cos' my hubby thought he gets "corporate rates". Otherwise, I'll prefer to go to a more family clinic type. (The type where the docs are the owners and not just doing a shift.) Anyway, we won't recommend it to neighbours too. The doc is so-so only. (Passable ... barely) The cost for such minor consults is too ex I feel. Our bills came up to be $33 and $38 each. My regular family doc only charges $26 and is a much, much nicer doc. So we are still on the lookout for a family doc. Any one tried the clinic at 79D?E? beside Eu Yan Sang? Any verdict?

Thanks, Yeoman. Think the guy at the counter say wrongly, told me it's a "fee". Now not so dui. howlupjac> the uncle activated my water and electric without my presence too. When I turned up, he just need to go in and turn on the tap to show me that it had been activated. I guess by protocol they need us to be around in case our taps are in the "on" position and the flat get flooded. Would like to check .... did anyone get a passbook like thing for the conservancy? Or is that kind of book no longer in use?

I went down to SP building at Somerset to fix appointment for turning on the water, electricity and gas. (Gas is done separately at Citygas). There is a $100 fee to turn it on which they said will be reflected in my 1st bill. No mention of deposit though.

Hihi, Anyone convenient to open their house on 19th May (next Monday)? I will really like to see the works as I have no idea even how/where to start the whole reno process. But I face a pretty tight deadline. I'm afraid I don't have much to offer as my reno hasn't started. Neighbours who don't mind can PM me your convenient timing, unit and contacts? Thanks very much in advance.

looks like I got to scratch bath tub off my list. Thanks for the info, Hana79.

Eh, what is 'KITT'? Hana> If you don't mind, can share how much your bath tub cost? Best if got picture.

Thanks to all neighbours who helped answer my earlier queries. Can I check if anybody was shown quartz kitchen worktops as an option? If yes, how's the cost like? Seems like almost all contractors/ID show granite tops. As for the water purifier system, Amway also selling. I've got a friend selling it, think she quoted me about 2K also. If anyone interested to find out more, I can give you her contacts.

Hi Ennvoy, Window grills are optional. For the handle, I believe reporting to the service centre will do. Dunno about the keys though. Btw, can anyone tell me if I can spray-paint the HDB window grills (the one at the bottom) as well as the window frame and handle? Really dislike the color but changing the windows is going to cost a lot. Haiz. Also, can we have electrical outlets in the bathroom? And last, can we drill in the bomb shelter? (For putting up shelves etc.) Or only standing shelves allowed? For the bathroom, can anyone share with me their shower enclosure dimension after overlaying tiles? Mine is a 90 sq m, 4 room flat. Thanks in advance!

Dear neighbours, Just testing water here. Anybody interested in buying stuff online from UK? But probably can only get the stuff sometime in late July/Aug. Possible suggestions, Brabantia bins, clocks, bathroom and kitchen accessories. Recommended websites .... www.amazon.co.uk www.lasenza.co.uk www.argos.co.uk How it works: 1) You tell me what stuff you want at what price from which website. 2) I do the ordering and have them send to my address in UK. 3) I arrange shipping to SG. 4) The catch: Exchange rate fixed at S$3 to £1. Or if you prefer to do the booking and stuff, I can provide delivery address and as for the shipping, can discuss. Why I can offer this is cos' we are relocating back to SG and shipping back a container. So it's a one-off thing. Still got unused space. Do PM me if you're interested. I'm from 79D btw.

I kaypoh and help Alister reply, cos' I took down the contacts last time for future ref. Here it is .... "I used a Mr Tan for moving. His contact is 96778340. His workers are very fast. Moved everything within 2hrs. For me, I moved a mattress, study table, 2 cupboards and 30boxes - $150 (without boxes). But there were some scratches to my cupboards alto has already wrap with plastic. Ok for me as those cupboards already has scratches anyway. He does provide boxes. S_Pear used him before and is please with his service." My 2 cents worth ... My parents place used granite and my sis' place used homo tiles. I beleive granite is harder and more expensive. But for my parents' they picked a grayish one and with the specks/streaks in the stone, everytime we drop small things on the floor, it seems to be gobbled up by the floor. (We can't see it!) Good also cos' dirt also not obvious. I find the floor slippery when wet. It feels cooler than homo tiles (to me). Homo tiles have nicer designs (in my opinion) and quality-wise ... So far my sis have no problem with her floor. No crack etc and cleaning is as usual. Never stepped on it when wet so not sure if it's slippery. Maybe other neighbours can add on?

No notice of payment? So strange. How to pay then? Put in NRIC at AXS? Btw, when is the monthly deadline? Can also share how much is your conservancy charges per month? As for food, I haven't been back for quite some time already. Better not anyhow recommend. In case standard dropped or shop closed. Ms White and Shay_d, wish you two a long blissful marriage.

Dear 79-ers, Hope to seek some advice here. I saw that I am due to collect my keys on 31st Mar. But saw on this forum earlier that HDB start charging conservancy in the month you collect keys. Does this mean I have to pay for Mar?! Pro-rate? Anybody tried to postpone their appointment dates? When I try, I only get a drop-down list of earlier dates. Wonder why? Thanks in advance!

Hihi, I saw that many neighbours who had collected their keys advised that we check for defects carefully. I wonder if I intend to overlay the toilet tiles, is it still necessary to check every single tile? Afterall, they'll be covered? Or is it that it forms the base for the new tiles and having them perfectly laid is even more important? How about the doors and switches? If you intend to change them, can heck care? Cos' my sibling may have to be doing the defect checks on my behalf. Before she kills me for asking her to check tile by tile, I like to confirm the importance. !! Die also must die for worthwhile cause. Hahaha Anybody asked their ID/contractors before? Thanks for the advise!

Yup, 79D 11th floor, neighbour. My family had received my Loan Application package. But as both of us are abroad, we are going to seek a deferment. So worried wo, someone mentioned in this forum that cracks and leaks were seen on the 11th floor possibly due to the garden above. One thing I'm dying to find out is just how high the 'high ceiling' is. When we were choosing the unit, they were unable to tell us and so I suppose we just kind of dumbly hand over an extra 10K not knowing exactly what for. Imagine the strength of our faith in HDB! They better not let us down, man! Do you suppose you can let me know the height of the units when you've got your keys? Many thanks!
-
Hi Tweakmax, Me too! Have you received your loan application or been advised of the date to collect your keys?
-
Hi Yel, We've received our oan application letter. (We are from Blk D). Yours should be on the way or maybe already in your mailbox as I type. Hang in there!

Hi all neighbours, Does anybody know how to go about deferring the key collection? I.e. The process, what's the maximum deferment period, etc? Cos' me and my hubby are overseas. Thanks in advance!
