Oh god, after reading through this post I am relating to the ordeal. We bought a 4rm resale hdb and majority of the contractors and ID's come up with strange issues. We don't even want them to give us a design, we know exactly what we want - they just have to make some changes and additions in 80% of the flat without any fancy additions or major tiling work, they straight on come out with crazy amounts like 30k and 40k Totally lost on how to go about this process. Any suggestions? The breakdown of our work is straight forward: - 1 patch of tiling required in the bathroom and fitting new sanitary - 1 small area (less than 5% of floor space to be re-tiled) - some carpentry work in the kitchen, rooms and living room - Wiring of new electrical appliances, removing the old one's The main issue I am facing is hacking costs - I get a feeling I am being cheated for the hacking work which is in a small area of the living room, bathroom and false ceiling. I keep wondering if it will be better to get individual contractors for each type of work - carpentry, electrical, plumbing, wall and floor works. I don't even know if that makes sense
