Stunning images from your mood board, Owl! I'm crazy about the bedrooms especially - I love the monochrome-ness of everything, and the textured accents really add interest to the overall feel. Errr..... I did cement screeding for both my toilet walls, and I had the same concerns as you... However, the contractor assured me that "leakage" per se was unlikely to happen as long as the water proofing was done properly, and I was ok with cracks.. uurrgh, I guess I'll only find out in a few years! I'll post up some pics of my toilets once everything is done.

A lot has to do with the mentality of our people... we are such a long, long way from the Swiss & Austrians in terms of animal welfare standards. TOTALLY agree with Lux that people need to be more open-minded and consider adoption as the first choice, but it won't be easy getting them to do THAT, as long as pet shops keep bringing in and breeders keep churning out cute puppies/ kittens.. Also...If only HDB can come up with something to allow mutts to live with their adoptive owners if they fulfill certain criteria regardless of size...

Lux, the last pic is a rat, rescued from a testing lab!! Hahaha yes, alot of people are creeped out by their tails but they are so intelligent, like mini dogs! I have 4! Fatcat, my kitties are ok with them so far. Curious, but never attack leh. In fact, just last night my black rat had a face off with one of them - pounced at her nose and then proceeded to chase her out of the room somemore!

Heello from this side! Your boho look is so comfy-cosy! Looking forward to more updates! Y'know, I have always loved the look of a standalone hob-oven. thought it'll be prefect for your theme and was kinda hoping you'd go for it! Any reason why you picked build-ins instead?

Hi Foxy, thanks for dropping in! I do have grilles over my windows, just that they aren't up yet (see the black wrought iron pieces under the window?) Having said that, some cats know naturally not to do a Mary Poppins on you if they register that the drop is too high for them to handle. An alternative you may consider if you don't want to feel "caged-in" would be to install magnetic insect screens over your window frames - cost effective and virtually invisible unless you get really up close. Here are some pics taken from - http://magneticinsectscreen.blogspot.sg/ Pretty neat huh? Good luck and I do hope you end up taking in a cat as well!

Both of you are too sweet! Thanks for the kind words Lux, you should try painting a wall on your own! Very therapeutic and i think a dark gradient wash is simple to do, and will look great on raw brick *thumbs up*

Hi fatcat, whole black sockets are available from Clipsal, but quite costly especially if you factor in sockets for the entire home. In our case, only our switch plates came in black, but the wiring box itself was originally standard issue White, then spray painted to match the covers. Was poking around for the cover brand and yup, found the packaging - FYM it says, on the box

So busy with moving in, but it feels so odd cos there's still some way to go with the reno.. Since it's a long weekend and no contractors coming in and out of the house for a change, i decided to do a little xmas project with my main door light: Armed with a simple hanging bare bulb, balsa wood, yellow acrylic paint and a hot glue gun... ... We get a memphis-inspired pendant lamp at the main entrance! (sorry if the photo is bad/ dark, it's because all of my lights aren't completely up yet..) UNPACKING CONTINUES.... I'd forgotten how photogenic this set of coffee cups were.
