  1. Site Visit - 03.12.2015 Went down tonight to take a look at the carpentry ourselves Reached at around 8pm and surprised that 1 of the carpenter was still working. He said he's trying to do more before calling it a day as they won't be here tomorrow (their boss send them to another project). Might only be back to continue on Saturday or next Tuesday to complete it Anyway, we saw that the WIW gypsum wall already added wood & patch up. Need to repaint the patches & the WIW door can be installed...then the WIW installation can be completed. This is 1/2 of the WIW done:
  2. Yalor! Hahaha. I hope he will continue to surprise us with speedy work progress till handover
  3. No oh i didn't change out the WC as ours looked pretty fine. Didn't do a butt test though... hahaha... Maybe you can check out HoeKee at Tanjong Katong Complex (walking distant from Paya Lebar MRT) or Heritage Bath which is also around the same area.
  4. Carpentry Delivery Today I realized my ID, Mr. B, is very cute/funny. Here's why... As this is the final 2 weeks of scheduled-reno, I have been chasing him to give me the exact dates on when will the carpentry be coming, how many days it will take to complete, when will plumbers come again etc etc etc. Yesterday, he told me by Friday should arrive and start installation. But I felt he sounded a bit sian over our whatsapp chats... giving me very one-word or vague reply. Then today (Thursday) around 1pm, he sent me many many photos of ALL the carpentry that had already arrived at my place! And he said "surprise (+ pop-confetti emoji) !" HAHAHA! Sneak peek... He said he purposely wait until lunch time to send us the photos + gave me a call to update on the progress and what's next for the following few days. Such a wonderful & pleasant lunch time surprise!
  5. You have put my exact sentiments into words! These time bombs are small matters that's easy to solve but in that moment, I just felt like hahahaha... Btw congrats on your beautifully completed Little London home! So much feelll & coziness with the Christmas tree by the fire place! It's the most wonderful time of the year!
  6. Bathrooms Sanitary Wares Installation Day Took 1/2 day leave 2 days ago to meet our plumbers. First time staying through a single whole process and it was really longgg (2pm-7pm). And realize there are really so many unforeseen circumstances during Reno that will just surprised us. Within that 5hrs, 2 issues occured: 1. WIW Door We didn't know the door-guy is coming. Anyway, was happy to have work progression. However, when they finished prep-ing the WIW sliding door, they realized the worker who did the gypsum wall (WIW front panel) did not put additional wood at the right location. This additional wood is crucial to make sure the wall is strong enough to hold the whole WIW sliding door. So they cannot install the door! My ID have to ask the gypsum wall workers to come and open up that already-perfectly-done gypsum wall, add the wood, cover back & make it nice, re-paint... then can install the door. 2. Bathroom Mixers I saw the plumbers trying to install the mixer onto the basin for very long. Finally, they told me the mixer's base is too small OR the basin's mixer-hole is too big... so there's a tiny tiny gap... which will cause water leakage. If they put silicone to seal it, it will be very ugly as silicone turns black very quickly. So the plumbers asked me to (i) Buy a metal ring that is to be attached to the mixer base, or (ii) Change the mixer / basins model. In other words, they cannot install my basin+mixer+mirror cabinets that day Till that point in time, i have no idea what is that metal ring the plumbers were talking about. Felt so lost... don't know what to do... Tried to ask the plumbers to solve it, but they have actually tried all the ways they can... but cannot be solved. Have to buy the metal ring or change mixer/basins. Called HoeKoe (Main Showroom) and a very rude person answered and is unwilling to help (despite me saying urgent) because they're closing (6pm) and ask me call the next day! After panicking for another 30mins... I checked HoeKee website for other outlets closing time. Tanjong Katong Complex outlet opens till 9pm! I called and a very nice gentleman answered and assisted me with my inquiry. He said they have the metal ring (last 2 pieces!) that I needed for my mixers, and will reserve it for me! PHEW! So I flew there immediately to purchase it. Now have to wait for ID to arrange the plumbers to come back to complete the installation. This is how the metal ring (to be attached to mixer's base) looks like: On-site is really not fun... so much last minute issue. A valuable reno-experience.
  7. Looking forward to see your reno progress!
  8. End of Week 8 | Start of Week 9 Delivery of HoeKee items on Saturday. Every items are correct However, there are still 2 items pending delivery: Kitchen Sink -> They are supposed to deliver them tomorrow. However, this morning they called and said they received the wrong sink I ordered a 700mm sink but they received a 550mm one... They have already make arrangement to send the correct sink over via Air instead of sea... so should arrive in 2-3 days. Glad that they are willing to take up the responsibility of their mistake by arranging for Air shipment to deliver the sink to me. Hood -> I heard Bosch factory has been delaying their shipment of this hood for many times le... and many customers are waiting for this hood too. HoeKee said they had already arranged for air shipment of 100 sets...so will send out to all affected customers once they receive it... probably mid of Dec.Tomorrow will be the installation of all the bathrooms' vanity sets & accessories! *excited!* Will be there personally to meet Mr. B and his plumbers to go through where to place each item and to make sure everything is properly aligned (for my OCD side) Photos soon!
  9. ID said by carpentry should arrive this coming Thursday or Friday! ^.^
  10. Thank you Ahyong81 for the compliment! Can't wait for carpentry to be up Yes i totally agree with you -> to do within our means and what one can afford. Best is to stay debt-free
  11. Thank you Sunnydays7777 for your kind words~ I can't wait too! Our ID Mr.B said the carpentry should be able to arrive end of next week!
  12. Hi jobb! Actually it's the usual silver in color. Think the photo taken at night made it looks like grey.
  13. Hi GallopingPuffin, Phew~~~ Thanks for sharing the info with me about what your contractor shared. That is great news! My ID said it's not the first time they come across this hood... so i guess the carpenters should be familiar. Hope it will turns out great for the both of us! Thank you for the compliments! The overlaying of MBR bathroom wall tiles cost us S$2.6k Your place is progressing fast! I am looking forward to see how your bedroom 3 transform. It's so creative to open up that wall
  14. Tinted Bronze Mirror! At our dining area... We had a hard time choosing between bronze or black tinted mirror because both looks so nice! But now seeing this... I am so glad we went with bronze tinted as it fit into our overall theme beautifully. Feels so cozy looking at it already! Bedroom Doors! So so so loved our veneer door choice!
  15. Laminate Skirtings! At the living room... Inside MBR... The front part of our WIW is done! Glass Panels! MBR Bathroom... Dry/Wet Kitchen! Not sure is this complete yet... because the tape across the glass seems to say "Do Not Enter" haha.
  16. Site Visit - 25.11.2015 By far the most happy site visit to date! Mr. B told us the things that needs to be done this week will all be done on Wednesday (today), as follows: Clean up the whole place Install whole house skirting Install all glass panels in kitchen & MBR bathroomI was a bit skeptical with this list to be completed in 1 day... because the past 7 weeks of reno feels so s..l..o..w.. Nonetheless, we decided to drop by today to take a look at the progress... and even prepared to come back tomorrow to see any updates on incomplete job. To our surprise, everything was done! PLUS TWO BONUS: All the bedrooms' doors are installed! (he told us it will be installed tomorrow) :good: Our bronze tinted mirrors are installed! (he didn't tell us it's ready lol)Also, all the lighting switches in the living room had been properly installed & configured. Photos up next!
  17. Thanks for the insights! I called Bosch hotline and the CSO said for normal home cooking, their slimline hood won't make the cupboard greasy & smelly. However, the CSO I spoke to doesn't sound very convincing...so I shall take her words 50/50. As it's too late to make any carpentry changes at this stage, we just have to try & see the outcome. If it really cause smell & grease, we shall cover the top opening with aluminum foil ba Toh, the video shows that they did not cut a hole on the cabinet on top of the hood. If my carpenter do the same (no hole, same as the YouTube you shared) then I guess it won't affect the cabinet on top of the hood
  18. Thanks! That's really helpful and important to know. I shall not use it when nobody's home for the 1st few time of using then. See if the lid is tight enough. If air will lift the lid and liquid starts boiling out... then i guess it's not very safe to leave it on in the morning before leaving for work eh.
  19. Wah thank you for highlighting it to me! I totally skip the review because I thought KitchenAid should be good + the items looks so good in photo... haha. Now that I've went to read the reviews... I think i might not get it le. So many of them said it will melt and the quality is disappointing. Any other brands for kitchen tools to recommend?
  20. (Is multi-quote not working?) I was sold by how good the KitchenAid tools look too! And it's KitchenAid...so i thought it should be good. But then I saw bykaraanne's comment and went to read through some reviews in Amazon... It seems quite bad
  21. Thank you for sharing your firsthand experience with Crock-Pot! Sounds good enough to me for a start. Guess i will go ahead & give it a try!
  22. I'm as noob! haha. But i guess have to wait till US time 12am on 27th... which means 1pm on Sat.
