I think there's a misconception to your statement above. Larger is definitely much better now due to better technology on large size LCD panels. The current 46", 52" or even the 60" LCD panels have better "density" thus the pix mode will be much sharper. Another trick to enhance your TV settings is to use good HDMI cables (for watching sources from DVD or Bluray player). For TV source, get a HD set up box. I just fine tune my friend's Samsung series 6 52" LCD. All i can say, the pix quality is very chio. That will be my upgrade in about 2 months time. Cheers all Vince

Wireless Home Theatre System - Panasonic Or Sony
vicenzo70 replied to slapper's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi You can get this both models at $899 (neighborhood shops). Sorry, dont understand what you mean by "Sony dont support some formats of DVD9". What kind of formats you talking about? SACD compatible is if you owned SACDs. Otherwise its totally no use. As for interference, why dont u try it out? Ask your friend to call you on your mobile (with your HTib playing & youre inside your home). Signal drop & loss of sound is pretty common for wireless technology. Cheers Vince -

Hi all Good commnets - We also bought 2 sets of 2-seater leather sofa from Univonna. Their 2-seater are huge, can almost put 3 people on it. I would say their delivery is prompt, product is good (sofa comes with a 5 year warranty) & have the posh feel. We were served by Winnie at Tradehub (Eunos) & she's a very likable lady. The sofa was delivered on the date committed. Bad comments - We also ordered an expendable tempered glass dining table (with 4 dining chairs) when we purchased the sofa. The order was placed on April 2 2008. Expected delivery was beginning of May, which was ok with us. 2 days before the delivery date, we called up & they told us there's shipment problems from China. Rescheduled to end May & at the same time, lend us a spare dining table for temporary measure. I would say, they're very service orientated. Then end May, I HAD TO CALL THEM, and they had the cheek to tell me the delivery will be pushed back further to End June!!!!!!! Anyway, good thing we paid partial cause they demanded full payment when they delivered the sofa. Overall, i would say their products(esp sofa) is very good. Would i patronize them again or recommend them to anyone? Yes, I would. I believe their shipment hiccups could be due to the recent natural disaster. Cheers Vince

Absolutely!!! Sometimes Im cheesed off by friends who are in the midst of renovating their homes, promoting their ID not because of the workmanship BUT because of the FREE GIFTS!!!!! Cantona is right, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Dont be enticed by free aircon, free hob & hood etc etc. Chances are, you have already paid for it in your quotation. ID companies are in the business of making money. "Giving" free gifts is just a strategy to create the first impression of any unsuspecting would-be victims. Cheers Vince

Im happy for u & your purchase from Audio House. Have u tried getting quotes for your plasma/LCD from Everjoint (AMK) or Goh Ah Bee (Hougang)? If Audio House can match their prices, I will......errr...give away my OPPO DVD player. Cheers Vince

Any Lobang Where To Get Speaker Brackets ?
vicenzo70 replied to wiredchaos's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Speakers brand & model? Satellite speakers I presume? Cheers Vince -
Totally agreed with Mace. Those mothers at AudioHouse are one way street crooks. 2 months back Audio House was having a LCD/Plasma trade-in promotion. So I call & inquire about the value trade-in of my 32" LCD Samsung LCD (warranty valid) & at the same time looking to buy the Samsung's 40" M series. The salesperson (after much punching on his calculator) said, best price with trade-in is $3,299 with another 32" LCD as free gift. I told him I dont need another 32" LCD, so he punched on his calculator again & said "OK, best price $2,899. I then told him I'll consider. Good thing also, cause when I called Goh Ah Bee for a quote, they told me $2,099 without free gift!!!!! That's is a lot of difference & savings. Depending on which angle you looking from. Another note for those who are on their 1st LCD/plasma purchase. Its very subjective becoz your eyes will determine which panels appeals to you. Some will swear by the Sony Bravia series while others will vouch for Pioneers. So my advise for would-be buyers is to go down to big electrical marts & see for yourselves. Cheers Vince

Wall Mounted Speaker & Amp Built-in Yamaha Ysp-3000?
vicenzo70 replied to Ah Gon's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Wah....owm also know his good HTS stuff. I do happen to have a 9mth old OPPO 970 DVD player for sale if the price is right. This is by far, the best DVD player with SACD capability below the $300 range. This DVD player will compliment any complete HTS & gives out optimum audio/video quality via its HDMI output. Im eyeing the OPPO983 but its comes with a hefty $550 & the long wait. Then again, the price is reasonable if compared with the Cyrus & Arcam CD player. cheers vince -
Wall Mounted Speaker & Amp Built-in Yamaha Ysp-3000?
vicenzo70 replied to Ah Gon's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Ah Gon Wah....u already got 2 goldmine ticket wor. The marantz CD-63 MK is a **** solid player. Much more holding power than the say, Arcam. And your Velodyn, my dream sub. Which model is your Velodyne? Since u already got the setup in place, i can suggest u change your amp & get a pair of B&W603s. It's still within your budget though. Cheers Vince -
Wall Mounted Speaker & Amp Built-in Yamaha Ysp-3000?
vicenzo70 replied to Ah Gon's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Let me share my opinion on Yamaha YSP soundbars. Pros - 1) Good for bedroom with TV 2) Minimal wiring Cons - 1) Not good for living room. Its better if you demo in a "normal" room to test its audio effectiveness 2) Not a true HTS. 3) Sub wont be able to pick up low frequency bass & wont be powerful enough 4) I personally do not like built in amp. What if one day, i want to change to a more powerful amp? I need to ditch the soundbar as well. 5) How will a soundbar's back speakers work? I still cannot comprehend it yet. U can try watching say, Gladiators, esp the Roman arena scene where the crowd's applause can be heard very clearly on a true 5.1/6.1 HTS but very inaudible using a YSP. With your budget of $1,599 one can get a decent HTS set up. Then again, its up to individual preference. Much like those who likes Bose system because it looks nice & not because it sound nice. Bose's latest system has HDMI AUDIO processing (Not video hor) but it'll cost you anything above $5K. With that kind of money, one can get a better system worth many times more than Bose say the Tannoy Arena. Cheers Vince -
This sales person statement is defamatory. If any Mustafa's management get a whiff of this, HN better has evidence that indeed Mustafa is selling old sets. Cheers Vince

Where To Buy Onkyo Dr-s501 Receiver
vicenzo70 replied to Enalyze's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi how high/tall is your TV console compartment? Most AV receivers are at a min 171mm height. Maybe you post a pix of your TV console, let's see where we can help. Cheers Vince -
Hi Queenie brackets are a good range. Sorry to hear about your wife's choice on the HTS & not giving other models a chance. Pity. But then again Bose has won many admirers with their sleek & tiny cubes. After all, its your ears that counts & nothing else matters. B&W has a new distributor at Lavender street. Those intending to spend a bit more on these speakers, its worthwhile to check it out. The nautilus series are Cheers Vince

Hi 1) What is your budget for cables & brackets? 2) What speakers do you own? Cheers Vince

Any Reviews For Phillips Hts8100/59 Soundbar?
vicenzo70 replied to wiredchaos's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Hi Let me give an unqualified opinion. Soundbar is good if its placed in a bedroom but not in living room. Soundbar is never considered as a HTS, whatever the review writes. Yamaha is the first company to produce soundbar technology. Phillips & Pioneer are just jumping into the bandwagon. You may consider the Yamaha YSP-900 model. As for the models you mentioned, you got to go & hear it out & decide if its "sweet" enough for your listening ears. This sets me thinking, how does a soundbar generate sound of a back-speaker? Cheers Vince -
Teakland Gallery. Upper Serangoon. Next to Potong pasir MRT station. Look for Rini (lady boss). Can customise your furniture. I bought a teakwood daybed from them. Much cheaper than Barang Barang. The daybed base is solid teakwood. Barang2 is just a few planks. Cheers
