  1. Have u tried reading the manual? I think u need to assign the input if using microphone. Cheers
  2. What speakers are u currently using with your 707? Cheers
  3. Not sure about the price of 608 but the 707 is going for $1,120.00 let us know if anyone can get the 707 at an even cheaper price. Ive earmarked to get the 707 but need to sell my current receiver 1st. Cheers
  4. Hi What do you need? A proper home theater set up or just a passable audio/video system? Budget is very important here. Cheers
  5. Frequency Croosover is about attaining a smooth transition from the lower capabilities of your main speakers to the subwoofer. Its not easy as different location/placement of sub requires different treatment to get the optimum. Basically the receiver will calibrate the sub for you to get the sweet spot. Cheers
  6. *RED ALERT* Ive found out from some experts why is the 707 is more expensive than the 608. the 608 only has Audyssey 2EQ while the 707 has Audyssey Multi EQ which means the 608 dont calibrate the subwoofer!!!!! This is important as your frequency crossover may not be optimum. You guys better wait for the 708. Cheers
  7. Small cubes speakers - DefTech, Tannoy, Monitor Audio, Anthony Gallo, Energy Take5.1. Do check out the AV shops in Adelphi. Please do not even consider Bose. Not too sure about Mirage speakers but as a paying consumer, do audition them before buying. The Onkyo 608 is not out yet. Btw, will you be getting a Bluray player? Cheers
  8. Bro Not many bluray content are in 3D format yet. Probably only the movie "Coraline" is in this format. But its a good investment for the future. But do get a good bluray player to align the performance. Cheers
  9. You have the pricing for the 608? Atcually the 608 is rather new & its HDMI 1.4a compliant (supports 3D video). basically both 707 & 608 are pretty similiar in power & in performance. And yes, the 608 uses the faroudja chipset as the 707. Cheers
  10. Hi Dont understand your question. What recommendations are you looking for since youve already named the HTS combo? Cheers
  11. CK Hi get the 707. You wont regret paying a bit more to give your speakers a better performance. G11 is full HD plasma. very solid specs & yes, it supports up to 1080p. Lastly, there's a OPPO80 (cost $588) which is an alternative for the OPPO83. I cant say if there's any BR player currently that can match the OPPO without paying thru your nose for it. Cheers
  12. Just to add on, you could get the Onkyo 707 which IMHO, is one of the better upscaling receiver. It uses the faroudja chipset & can upscale to 1080p. The cost should be $1,100 thereabouts. Cheers
  13. Hi how much were you quoted for the 607? Atcually its better to enhance your receiver to have video upscaling. 607 only has upscaling to 1080i. Yes, if you asked me,. its better to have a receiver to do the video upscaling. A normal DVD picture will look sharper. Or you could let a good Bluray player to do the upscaling eg the OPPO83 which will probably set you back at $999. Hope this info helps. Cheers
  14. Ask yourself whether you want to have elevator music for all the key rooms in your house? Is this the only plus point for a home thearter? 1stly the price youre paying is inferior to the quality you'll be getting. 2ndly, Bose still cannot stream HD digital sound. Yes Im talking about lifestyle 38. Finally, do listen to other brands & set up & make that comparison. You will be aghast at the premium youre paying for a BOSE that uses Jurassic technology. Cheers
  15. Got this from Spore Property Investor website - Your first property can be used as a pledge for half the monies required under the Minimum sum. This means that if you with to use CPF for your second property (as at 2009), you must have at least $58,500 ($117,000 x 50%). Any CPF above $58,500 can be used for your second property. So I take it you can use your CPF excesses for 2nd property right? Cheers
  16. Thks for the reply. Another question. Can we use our fully paid up HDB to pledge to the Minimum sum? Thks again & cheers.
  17. Guys & financial gurus, I got a real life scenario & see if anyone can help out in getting that 2nd property. We got a HDB fully paid. Our age is 35 & 40. Virtually debtless. Combi income is $8.5K CPF both me & my wife combined is OA-$45,000 SA-$96,00 CPFIS - $23,000. Let's say we intend to get a 2nd property this year, what is the excess we can draw from our CPF to pay for the 2nd prop based on our illustration above? Our home bank loan will be based on? 1) Value X 90% minus our CPF excess? or 2) Value X 90%? Thks Cheers
  18. I would advise to go for the plasma if youre into Bluray. LED's black is not entirely black but grayish & IMHO, plasma is still has the better specs. Oppo80 is a superb player. If you have that additional money, get the Oppo83. cheers
  19. Its a superb combination. How much are you paying for it? Velodyne sub, let me guess..its either the 8 or 10Q model right? As for your amplifier, you may want to wait just a bit longer for the 608 model. Please bear in mind your 607 upscale only to 1080i instead of 1080p & its THX certified. Also the 608 is HDMI 1.4 compliant which means you can futureproof your technology(hint : 3D compatible) cheers
  20. Hi what's the plus point of this HTiB? Yes, u do need to get a transformer to convert the voltage. Cheers
  21. You should get some expert help at www.xtremeplace.com forum & ask whether the avr suit your speaker setup. By having a lower powered receiver its like installing a mazda engine into a mercedes body. Look good but under power. Have you audition the B&W setup yet? For the money youre going to pay, do shop around more before plonking into this big investment. Cheers
  22. The staff must be off his head!!! The Mythos needs a receiver with at least 200W power. Mythos, IMHO, sounds bright. After a while, I preferred warmer sound, thus I went for the B&W. I also find it odd that youre comparing/auditioning a floor stander speaker(Mythos 2) vs a sat speaker(tannoy). So what is your preference now? Do audition the yamaha & Onkyo receiver before making a choice. The reason why KEC is marketing Denon aggresively is becoz they dont have the exclusive for Yamaha (this Im very sure) & Onkyo (yet to be confirm) so their margins are lower. Cheers
