Ok movies a lot/some music. Deftech Pro Cinema 100 would fit your budget. You still need to spend another $250 for an entry level DVD player.

Hi, I'm looking at entry level HTS too, budget $1500. Do you have any recommendation for movies viewing and occasional songs listening? What kind of speakers (say 5.1) receiver, and subwoofer can I go for with this budget?
Please pardon my layman lack of understanding as I am trying to give a little surprise to my hubby, who will love a simple HTS.

Not really thinking of new fad upgrades. Just wondering if there's any push factor for anyone to take a plunge into 3D. Needed to get some opinions from those who went straight in it without any future thoughts of its product shelf life. Im pretty happy with my set up. Dunno what else to upgrade. Maybe Focal speakers will be my next pet project. Blurays are not so expensive if you buy online. Cheers

Cars BD is awesome!!! Toy Story 1,2 & 3 has probably the best pix quality if viewed in 1080p. Still waiting for Finding Nemo to be available in BD. Heard Lion King is coming soon. Cheers
