  1. This side table/stool is really classy! Love your bifold door too!
  2. Hi Yakult! Here's a photo of the cleaning solution from Self-fix HTH!
  3. Hey Yakult! We bought the main door together with the digital lock as a package from MyDigitalLock for $2200. It's so expensive because my main door has to be fire-rated and it's 2 leafed...I'm really happy with the final product and the service was good too so, no complaints...just that I can still smell the sizzle from the burnt hole in my pocket As for the grout cleaning solution, I'll take a photo of it when I go back to the house again k?
  4. Thanks for your offer Ks Toh! But, we aren't thinking of stacking the dishwasher and dryer and we purposely bought machines with the dimensions that could fit together into that space Appreciate your offer anyway! My fiance would agree with you on the green plants! I'm too lazy to take care of plants actually...so I've been saying no...but maybe we can consider getting those small potted ones from IKEA which need minimal maintenance
  5. Your house is really pretty! Congratulations! Love how clean everything looks...it definitely doesn't look like a HDB!
  6. Hi Markng37, I went to measure and the space between our main door and gate is 7.5cm. The depth of our Samsung lock is 7cm so it's just a very small allowance!
  7. Thanks guys! Hopefully all the issues can be resolved by end of this year
  8. Went down to the house today to do some spring cleaning and to add some furnishing. Took us about half an hour to hang these 3 paintings up as the OCD me kept instructing my fiance to shift 1mm to the right/left/up/down to make sure they were aligned perfectly We found this amazing tile grout cleaning solution from Self-fix at Star Vista and we are blown away by how effective it is! As we didn't touch the original floor tiles during renovation, there were some uneven discoloration in a few areas and the grout lines were quite black. The cleaning solution worked its magic and now, our floor tiles look as good as new! So happy to see the floors so shiny now! Now, we're left with the dining room, hallways and bedrooms to clean... Our living room will be perfect if the sofa had been the right colour...le sigh
  9. Renovation updates - end of renovations + last payment It's been a long past week...fiance and I took turns to fall sick and I had to liaise with the sofa company the whole week to try and resolve our issues... So right after we realized the sofa was the wrong colour and design, I immediately called up the shop to tell them that it's wrong The shop lady said their main office is closed for the weekend and advised me to call back on Monday. So, I spent a restless weekend worrying about whether the company was going to be responsible or not. Then came Monday, I called the shop and spoke to the sales person on the line. She said she was new to this job and apparently, the sales lady who sold me the sofa is no longer working there. I requested for a resolution to my problem and she could only repeat that she has forwarded my issue to the head office and I have to wait for them to contact me. When I asked how soon I could expect a call from them, she was unable to promise me anything. Worse thing is, when I asked for her manager's name or contact number, she couldn't tell me! She kept saying she just walked into the shop for an interview by a lady called Ms Tan and if she had orders placed, she will call the factory delivery line. She couldn't even tell me if this shop had other branches under the same company. Only thing she kept repeating was,"I'm new here." Seriously super pissed off with her. Left with no other recourse, I had to wait till Tuesday to call the factory delivery line as they had already closed on Monday. I was assigned to this person called Cindy and she basically said that the colour code on the order form submitted by the sales lady was wrong. It was coco and not light grey (I knew the colour was off! ) and she gave the excuse that the design changed because a few customers previously complained that the stitching caused the leather to tear...What nonsense! I told her I was promised genuine top grain cow hide so how can the leather tear so easily? After ding-donging back and forth for the next few days, we managed to get them to promise to deliver a new piece in the correct colour and original design by 29 Dec. Although we seriously regretted buying our sofa from this shop, I'm glad that Cindy was so patient in trying to resolve the issues for us...I must commend her on being so patient as me and my fiance took turns to call and scold her/the company Now, we are just praying that they will deliver the sofa in the right colour and design on 29 Dec... Other than the sofa, everything else seems to be falling in place. Today was another busy day as the painter came by to touch up on some areas...unfortunately, I wasn't around when he did the touch ups and I still found some areas which are not satisfactory. Our ID promised that he will get the painter to come down again so that I can ask him to do the touch ups wherever necessary. I told him if the painter really can't fulfill my expectations, I will do the paint touch ups myself! Carpenter also came by and initially said they had thrown away all the excess laminates used for the kitchen cabinet and that it was not economical to buy a new roll just to replace the small piece which had chipped. Apparently, the carpenter suggested either using a different coloured laminate or nail down our in built oven to cover the chipped portion. I exploded when I heard that and told my ID that neither of these options are acceptable to me and I don't care how he does it but I want the laminate to be perfect. Eventually, our ID decided to ask the carpenter to just buy a new roll and return another day to replaced the chipped laminate...was appeased after hearing that The other rectifications went quite smoothly. The missing glass panel has been put up, the faulty light bulb exchanged and replaced, the soap ledges installed and our ID's workers came down to clean up the kitchen, toilets and window grills. Really appreciate that nothing is too minor for them and our ID also rolled up his sleeves to help clean up alongside his workers As there were no outstanding major issues, we decided to go ahead and pay off the balance of our renovation fees. Overall, I'm quite thankful that we didn't have any major complications during our renovations and the hiccups which appeared were promptly settled by our ID or his boss. Will write a detailed review on our ID soon... Our completed kitchen with the final piece of tempered glass backsplash installed! Our hallway (our ID's favourite part of the house) with all 4 working spotlights! Our completed master toilet where my fiance used the toilet bowl for the first time! He said it was pretty comfortable and the flush was good Last but not least, our main door and digital lock was installed today! Even though the new door and lock cost us a bomb, I have totally no regrets! Super happy with both items...the guy who came to install our doors said most people will also end up changing their gates after replacing their main doors I would love to if it wasn't so expensive! For now, I think we're happy to keep our grey gate as it matches quite nicely with our door. We had a lot of fun configuring our Samsung digital lock too and I remembered another renotalker's advice to have one person inside the house when trying out the lock for the first time just in case we get locked out! Wise advice indeed... We still have some minor issues to settle before we can officially say renovations are over...but at least, I can see the end of the tunnel already
  10. Renovation updates - end of renovations (partial) Today was a long and busy day as our ID completed the handover and we took delivery of our furniture and electrical appliances. Although renovations have been completed, there are still some outstanding items which need to be settled. 1) Chip on our cabinet laminate above the oven needs to be replaced 2) Painting still needs touch up at certain areas 3) One of the spotlight bulbs is spoiled, so we need to exchange for a new one with our supplier 4) One of the glass panel for the kitchen backsplash needs to be installed 5) Stone ledge for master toilet needs to be installed Our kitchen Minus 1 piece of tempered glass backsplash The missing pieces of tempered glass was supposed to be installed today but when the workers came down, they realized the glass was too long and couldn't fit into the space... So, they had to take back the glass to cut away the excess before they can come back to install it another day. On a happier note, water filtration system/dispenser has been installed by our ID - we had our first cup of alkaline water today! Our Hitachi fridge was also delivered today. Really lucky that it could fit the existing base...it was just nice, right to the edge! From left to right - Bosch dryer, LG washing machine, Bosch dishwasher (all fitted onto the existing ledge) Bedframe and bed were delivered today. Love the bedframe Really very happy with how the master bedroom turned out. We're just missing the curtains which will be installed in front of the sliding glass door. Sofa also got delivered today...but after the workers left, we realized it's the wrong colour and the design was a little off as well We had ordered the sofa with the exact dimensions, design and color as the one in their showroom...but the sofa that got delivered today is a little different. The color is more brownish compared to our chosen light grey color and the sofa is missing a few design details like the stitch linings on the extended L part and the backrest. Called the shop and was told the office is closed for the weekend...the lady in charge will call me back on Monday...hope we'll be able to resolve this issue soon... Looks like there's still some time to go before we can officially end our renovations...the roller-coaster ride is still in motion!
  11. Hi there, Sorry but our hob is Rinnai Hope you manage to find the packaging soon...
  12. Hi Yakult! Looks like your house is progressing nicely Noticed your window grilles are grey in colour! Did you paint them or did they come in this colour?
  13. Really like your grey false ceiling so much that we took that as inspiration for our living room!
  14. Bathroom fittings are up! The plumbers came down yesterday to fix up all the sanitary items. Common toilet with the new IKEA sink, cabinet and mirror set. The size of the sink looks so much better! Shower set has also been installed. Towel bar installed by plumber had a boo boo There's a hole and gap beside the bar! Very upset about that and sent this picture to my ID immediately. Good thing was he called soon after receiving my message to reassure us that he will get it rectified. Rainshower set as well as bathroom accessories installed in the master toilet. On closer inspection of the bar hooks, I noticed another boo boo...the bar was installed slanted i.e. blue line is longer than the red line... I can't believe the plumber installed it this way and thought it will pass... Super upset about this...again, our ID acknowledge that it is their mistake and that he will get it fixed...Really hope the rectifications will be acceptable/not noticeable...if not, I'll probably On a happier note, I met up with our ID and his electrician this afternoon to confirm the position of the lights and discuss the various lighting control switches. ID said lights will be installed today, the light casings changed tomorrow. He also got Citygas to come down and switch on the gas pipe and showed me our hob is now in function Touch up of painting will also be done tomorrow so that chemical and general wash can be carried out on Friday, in time for possible handover on Saturday! Really excited that we can complete our renovation journey soon!
  15. Now that the renovation is entering the last lap, I couldn't resist going down to the house whenever I can after work since it's so near my workplace! On Monday afternoon, I saw the plumbers coming in to install the sinks, taps and bathroom accessories. As I happened to be there, I could instruct them where to place the various fittings we got from Taobao. Had to leave before they could complete the job so I only saw the completed works when I went down again yesterday afternoon... The quartz tops have been completed. Must say that the workers did a good job on that. Kitchen cabinets sans the tempered glass backsplash on the left side. Our Rinnai hob and hood; and kitchen sink with the tap installed. The hole to the right of the hob was created for my water filtration system/dispenser. On the other side of the cabinets, the quartz workers initially wanted to extend the backsplash on both sides but we thought it looked funny. So, we asked them to remove the sides and we think it looks better now (final product is picture on the right) One thing I'm super stoked about but forgot to post last weekend! Our ID has installed these two trays for us so that it's easier to retrieve the pots and pans we plan to store in this side of the cabinet Super excited when I first saw this So, that sums it up for the kitchen renovation works. We're just missing the tempered glass backsplash, lighting and chemical wash.
  16. Hi Kaisermisaki, Could you pm me the price for the sliding door too? Thanks in advance!
  17. Wow! Looks all set for you guys to move in! So excited for you!
  18. Hey bykaraanne, That was exactly what our ID told us too I wonder if they memorized the same script from Nippon or something! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! At least we don't feel like we've been cheated on the paint
  19. Renovation updates - end of week 4 Carpentry work has been completed! The carpenters went down yesterday to rectify the defects that our ID marked out as well as to change the underside of our study table to our chosen laminate. It looks so much nicer without the white pvc...now, I'll be happy to study at my new table! Our quartz counter tops for the kitchen and master toilet cabinets were installed yesterday as well. The kitchen tops are white in color while the top in the master toilet is grey. The counter top for the kitchen is still incomplete as they have not sealed down the backsplash. We had a couple of issues with the placement of some of these pieces as our kitchen cabinets have some odd angles and different heights in some places. We requested our ID to send us a photo of the provisional placement for approval before sealing them down. The carpenters have also placed in the oven and the microwave oven (both were given to us by the previous owner). The oven looks pretty new as we suspect the previous owner didn't use it much but the microwave oven condition is not as good. I'm trying to persuade my fiance to buy a new microwave oven instead This is the completed master toilet sink + cabinet with the quartz top installed. Happy about the colors we chose We also managed to complete assembling our remaining Taobao and IKEA furniture today...Managed to retrieve the missing hinge from IKEA last Tuesday and we assembled the rest of the IKEA cabinet. Will post pictures of the final product when our ID installs it for us next week. Also managed to assemble these 2 office chairs which we ordered from Taobao. They are no Herman Millers but seem quite comfortable and stable when we did butt tests on them...so no complaints there... Last but not least, my eagle eyed fiance spotted the paint cans left in the kitchen and realized the grade of paint used was not what we requested. We wanted the Odour-less Easywash but the painters used Vinilex 5000. When we surfaced this up to our ID, he was very apologetic about it and gave us 2 options: 1) Stick with the VInilex 5000 since the whole house has been painted with it and only minor rectifications need to be done and he will offer $200 off the final renovation price or 2) Change to Easywash but we'll need to top up a bit to purchase more paint to repaint the house. Eventually, we decided to go with option 1 as we weren't keen to spend more money. Our ID also gave us the assurance that he will ensure the rectifications will be done so that the paint work will be up to standard as he knows I'm very particular about paint lines being straight and neat. So yup, another hiccup about the paint used but luckily, it's not a major mistake and hopefully, our ID will do his best to ensure the paint work is up to my expectations. I guess at the end of the day, we're glad that our ID takes responsibility for the mistakes made and tries to look for solutions that will be palatable to us. Next week should be the last week of our renovations! Things to be done include: 1) Installation of lights 2) Completion of quartz countertop installation + installation of kitchen sink, hob and water filtration system/dispenser 3) Plumbing 4) Opening of gas pipes by Citygas 5) Chemical wash + general cleaning 6) Touch up of painting Our furniture and electrical appliances are scheduled to arrive next Saturday so the house has to be ready by then! Really excited to see how the house will turn out
  20. Hi carbine90, Our ID emailed us the pictures in jpeg format
  21. Glass doors were installed today! Initially, we wanted to install a sliding glass door for the kitchen entrance but our ID said there's insufficient space in the kitchen. He proposed to have the sliding door placed outside of the kitchen along the hallway but my fiance was not keen on that...so, we decided to do away with the kitchen door altogether. All the glass doors are limited to the master bedroom... Absolutely loving this sliding glass door! Makes the irregular corner less of an eyesore and makes it seem like we have a little balcony! Also installed a frosted glass swing door and shower screen for the master toilet. That was all that was done for today!
  22. Hi Yakult! Realised our colour theme is really very similar! So exciting to see yours coming together!
  23. Hi Yakult! I guess it's because we didn't do any hacking or touch the existing flooring...so everything can move along quite quickly...I saw your lights in your latest post! Looks so awesome! Can't wait for mine to be up too!
  24. Thanks bykaraanne! I guess there's no hard and fast rules to this...will prob try to get handover done just before my furniture comes in...
