Hi Fellow Renotalk Friends I wanted to share my encounter with this company that provides Turfing of Balcony and Feature Wall. After getting the keys to my new apartment, I happen to see a couple of Neighbours in the Condo doing up their Balcony by putting in Astroturf to give a green feel to the apartment. Nowadays with Apartments shrinking in sizes and the Balcony slowly increasing in size, I am glad that the property which was marketed in 2012 had a not-so-big balcony. But I wanted to add functionality to the Balcony, and went to get quotations for the Turfing of my Balcony. 1. Company that had a Showroom at IMM - quoted me $25 psf of Astro Turf without Installation. This company looks the biggest and more established, but I tend to believe the prices were so high because they had a lot of overheads and shopping mall rentals to pay for. 2. Company had a showroom at an Industrial Estate in Woodlands, and we went down to take a look at the quality of the Turf. The quotation given was about $18 psf and the guys were very friendly, however, they were hard-selling me to up-grade to a so-called higher grade Turf which would cost almost what the Showroom at IMM cost. I had difficulty accepting that the Turf would cost so much, although both shops did mention that they have a limited warranty for up to 10 years, which i believe is a fairly long time. I just wanted to share this lobang that I got when I saw online of this company selling Astroturf Per Square Meter instead and I called them and they quoted me $100 PSM, which is about Half of what the others are quoting me. I was hesitant to try them as they did not have a physical showroom, but since they provided free on-site survey, I contacted them to visit my apartment. This has got to be the best decision taken. They came and quote me $100 PSM as per the phone call, and took measurements on-site to ensure that everything was okay. The other two companies requested for floor plans which I thought was good, but the floor plans do not reveal what type of flooring lies below and where the proposed drainage plugs would fit nicely. I am happy that after the measurements were taken, they took only 1.5 weeks to delivery the goods to my place, and offered us to do installation at $50 PSM ( the other two companies quoted me $12 psf), as my Husband is a hands-on guy, we skip that and we have successfully spent 1 hour to save $200 in Installation Charges ( or $480 before GST if we had choose to go with the Landscape Companies in IMM and Woodlands). Total Cost for installing 4SQM of Artificial Turf on our Balcony came up to a grand sum of $425, we bought two bottles of strong adhesive and plugs from them at $25 instead. So $400 spent on 4SQM of Turf and $25 spent on the Installation materials and also 1 Hour of our time to install. The cost saving is substantial, Co. 1 would have cost $1200 for the Astroturf plus Installation and Plugs, while Co. 2 would have cost almost $1000 for Astroturf plus Installation.
