  1. yap doing it on monday, as well as the feature wall and shoe cabinet in the living room. (there was a delay in the shoe cabinet because I make some changes to the inner depth and length to house my shoe.. lol need to give space for my boots haha. so my id need to get the factory to redo the carpentry... actually still got a lot need to do sia.. cause I every day go and see.. when i realise that doing another way might be better, I will consult my ID and ask if i can do otherwise.. and he will advise me if its ok or not... Still got glass works for the kitchen, the entire glass panel and glass doors for the entire house, main door and gate, and also the evorich herf flooring.. The evorich herf flooring people did not do a good job.. end up got hollow area and some hidden area, they never put the grouting to seal off at the wall side... hai...... a bit disappointed.. my id called up them and they say they will get their workforce to check, but dont know when..... the herf flooring got defect, i cant arrange for my furniture to come in, need to postpone because of them...
  2. grats kara.. I think your renovation might complete before mine haha Next week for me will be the remaining carpentry and glass works for the entire house. looking forward to move in ready day soon....
  3. I did not go twice a day. I was referring I go after work if i am working day shift and before work if i am working night shift. I am working on shift works Btw your id/contractor dont need to be there the whole day, they just need to be around to tell the aircon guys where to run the piping and trunking so that they can plan their works/design. I stay there to make sure that the trunking is properly run based on my id/contractor instruction to the aircon guys My id Mr L got other project on hand, so cant expect him to stay throughout the whole day haha.
  4. I also never do full height shoe cabinet, just doing half height, i can next time still put a painting or some deco, maybe a fish tank, but subject to fs.
  5. Since I am unwell, might as well use the time to create some before and after concept of the renovation project This before and after is without furnishing and half way complete Will do another before and after once renovation is complete and fully furnish. Living Room (before and after) Kitchen (before and after) Common bedroom convert to master bedroom (before and after) Common bedroom convert to study room (before and after) Master bedroom convert to walk in wardrobe and vanity suite (before and after) Formally a wall at the beam down, hack to create more space for a proper dining area (before and after) Master bathroom (before and after)
  6. A good sharing tips if its not too much of a hassle. For me, I took photo of the entire renovation project starting from day 1, I make an effort to go to the house every day, before work and after work, and took photos of the works done for that day. Below is the example of what i meant. This is before box up and conceal the trunking, luckily I got take photo because I need to install bind for this room and the curtain guys need to know where they can drill and install the bind, if not they might damage the piping and electrical wiring inside the aircon trunking. This is after the box up of the same location, My ID did not know that I will be putting a bind for the glass panel, and thus he did not place wood inside the ceiling works, with these photos i took, he can easily find an opening and insert the wood inside without guessing where is the previous aircon trucking position was. I got all the photo starting from Day 1 until now, if next time any defect or issue with the electrical or water piping issue, I can easily refer back to my photos and rectify from there. I did this all alone as I am single, if you are married, it should be easier for husband and wife to help each other in this matter. Actually doing a renovation is a good tools for couple to know to understand and appreciate each other, there will sure be a lot of bickering and argument but end of the day, the end products will be worth it.
  7. I stay throughout cause if i see any thing wrong, can tell them on the spot, example they run wrongly the trunking. Best if your contractor or id is around too. If you are concealing the pipe with false ceiling, a good practice would be to take photo of all the existing trunking location for easy maintenance in the future so that you know where the trucking are installed, only need to pinpoint those affected area instead of tearing down the entire false ceiling For me, I took photo of the entire renovation project starting from day 1, I make an effort to go to the house every day, before work and after work, and took photos of the works done for that day. 8. Grats on your new home hope to see more updates on the renovation progress.
  9. Hi bro, since your thread is about Philip Hue lighting, thus decided to post here as well Just got news that the Philips Hue Led lightstip is having a new version called the Lightstrip Plus This is so much better as it allows user to add additional 1m led track to it up to 10m in total length. And compared to its version 1, the maximum brightness was 120 lumens. The new Lightstrip is 1600 lumens (OMG that is like a projector power) and it has a separate white LED to get the pure white lighting effect. It also has built in sound sensor Currently it was launched in the US in 8 OCT 2015, waiting for it to be launch in Singapore and Asia. Sharing this to those people who might be thinking to have cove lighting just as what I have did in my house for the ambient covelight.

For the time being, since I have already DIY my own LED light strip and its bright enough for ambient lighting. I am not in a hurry to get that product, but once it arrived in ASIA or Singapore, I will most prob change to this cause ultimately it will be able to give me a true color range because the LED that Philip lightstrip, it has a additional white led built in. The RGB 5050 i got only has RGB, and it cannot produce a white color light effectively.
  11. Renovation Journal (Daily) - Day 42 1st Acid wash for the entire house - finally after like so long... finally the house is clean now for the moment Thanks to my cousin for taking these pictures. Am down with a fever and vomiting (stomach flu)....... Btw the wooden main door and gate is not changed yet. It will be the 2nd last items to be changed. Last renovation item for the house will be the curtains and bind I am still going towards my theme of Minimalist / futuristic / modern feel At least for now its still looks like it haha
  12. I brought the 5050 led light strip at sim lim tower. The price is $35 for 5m. The remote is using the philip hue led controller/driver, i cut the wire and use it. I brought a transformer at $30 and a rgb amplifier at $20. Total length i brought is 15m rgb led light strip. The false ceiling cove only need 12m.
  13. A simple video update on the Cove light in action I did a re-run of the entire led strip light and fix the led light strip at the back of the ceiling facing front on my own (went to buy a ladder, anyway next time also need to use it). This way, the light projected out are brighter and more uniform. Also add in a stronger adhesive tape cause the original double sided tape is kind of useless. A simple background music cover (Title: Yu Jian by Stefanie Sun) played using a electronic keyboard
  14. Renovation Journal (Daily) - Day 41 Hanger is up, as well as the ceiling fan for living room and study/common room. Vanity sink is installed too Living room ceiling fan Common / Study room - Using the philip Hue light bulb ( dont want to waste the 3 bulb which comes with the started kit) Master bathroom/vanity sink installed and adjustment made to the carpentry.
  15. I only use their controller. The led light strip i use my own diy. the philips one are lesser 30 led per meter. The rgb led light strip i brought is 60 led per meter. Too bad for rgb, i cant find 120 led per meter. If not i would suggest using that.
  16. The electrician told me the adhesive tape of the led strip light is not strong, thus some of the uneven lighting is because it has peel off, will touch up.
  17. The light switch from Taobao when view at night, its a bit blur The blue LED will be lit when the light is in off mode. I will be able to locate the switch in the dark Although its not what I intended it to be, it turns out quite nice
  18. Renovation Journal (Daily) - Day 40 Entire house Light is up and my LED ambient cove light is up as well. All the LED light has 3 colour (Warm / Cool / Day ) to change the mood. Master bedroom Left side is the two side walk in wardrobe Living view to the study room and kitchen Dining area lights Philip Hue Ambient LED light Master Bathroom
  19. Dont know electricity bill friendly or not lol. Although one small led, but imagine whole house add up lol.... will give review on my electical bill.
  20. Yap but something i did not expect happened.... lol I thought the blue led is on when i on the lights. End up its on when the light is off. Haha. So that in the dark can see.
  21. Renovation Journal (Daily) - Day 39 Wall socket are up for whole house, my kitchen light also up
  22. You can use your phone camera to take panorama photo. Samsung and iphone both can. I just realise it one week ago lol. See my recent update, most taken using the panorama mode
  23. Hai.. now i also sian... i just msg my id asking if he ordered the countertop liao haha. Because you ask me... i go their website saw another one nice than the one i choose (photo online). Heng he havent order yet cause need to take some measurement. tml morning going his shop to see got the sample for the other one. Lol.... To be frank, this renovation is really stressful de, no matter how good an id or contractor, i still think that i should have control over it, that is why i visit the site every day without fail. Anything i dont like or want to change, i can just feedback to my id Mr L and he will advise me or help me to change it. Maybe i too paranoid.. ultimately its my first own house.
