  1. Contemplated on induction before but thought of the electricity bill got turned off then after the pots and pans have to be induction types as well so another issue with it. As for your peeling walls I use to experience it as well and didn't realize until 5 years after reno and it was the back of my then walk in wardrobe so the whole board rotted and my mirror spotted up before I took notice of this. Getting HDB to rectify it however was quick as its the holes between the tiles on the exterior that is causing this. So they will get the contractors to run the gondola and then patch the wall and you will get a new coat of paint after too
  2. Congrats on the progress should be faster and faster from here. Welcome to the TB club too haha
  3. Yes. hack all the bathroom window panels off and love the airy feel to it. Didn't have this luxury in the previous home as they were the typical square shaped ones. Sofa finally arrived and now leaving my bedside tables which still does not have a ETD Sigh....
  4. All depends on what type of lighting you want and I suggest in areas you want a wide spread light source do not go for track as it comes from angles and if there is obstruction in the way a shadow is cast over. Also it's still much light a spot light of sorts so it does not spread big out like T5 or ceiling light does. For feature areas then you can always go with track but well just a heads up track lights do cost more in the end cost the cost comes in parts for the track itself and then the multiple bulbs you need just to illuminate the place so a simple track with bulbs can set you back $200 and more Hope this helps.
  5. Thank you for stopping by hehe. Still parts to be completed and all the touch ups to be spotted after clearing boxes and living in officially.
  6. Dining & Kitchen Updates Finally managed to get the kitchen up to speed and the hood settled after a 1 for 1 replacement by Fujioh as the previous hood electronic panel wasn't working. Happy to get that but man the hassle. Dining is still missing 2 extra chairs apart from the bench and awaiting my 3rd TB shipment for these chairs to arrive. Kitchen Pardon the mess a little Kitchen Panels These are the kitchen panels when fully closed. Dining This is it for now as we are still awaiting for our sofa after it was delayed. Sighz. Will update more when I can.
  7. Well you know its your project and gut feel is pretty important as if the starting feeling is wrong then for me I won't go ahead with it. Which was why we dropped a couple of choices even if we know they will have really nice designs. But again this is a choice you have to make for yourself. Do what is best for what you need and cheap may not mean good ! But of course expensive may not also mean good. So a balance is what is required. Cos ID commands a higher premium but if they do the job well then they deserve to earn their keep because you can call them anytime. Like I keep calling my ID for minor touch up and plumbing issues still occurring and she gets the team down same day if possible. Even I'm quite amaze as the team turn up in 30 mins from when I texted here.
  8. Choose the one that you think will give you less headaches and issues when the job is handed over to them. At times hiring an ID may cost more than the others but if they give you a piece of mind then somehow they command their "premiums" too. They are working for you as well during this reno period when you have engaged them.
  9. Since all of you are onto the topic of Vacuum robots, can any seniors in this area comment on which brands serve the best for performing the job and pockets wise in this category? Many thanks
  10. lack of stock for the solid top is a definate bummer since my original choice with the granite was the same too. Don't know too many reno going on these days haha or lack of stones going around Gold looks great...its too fast too furious from here really. Congrats.
  11. Some Updates It's been a while since my last post and we have unpacked up all the boxes and cleaned up the house thoroughly but hence in this process the clutter begins to happen around the house too . So will continue to snap the finished look for the house when I can get them set up correctly. For now I'm still missing my bed side tables and Sofa. This is the finished look of my WIW for the MBR: This compared to the original 3D: Had to hide off the book shelf area Since it's still a mess but looks exactly alike to the 3D haha. Next Up is the MBR Shower: View from outside of the Bathroom window. We did away with the window frame and love it totally and no regrets. Our EM comes with huge oversized bathroom windows and now it does not feel stuffy inside while you shower and the dampness can get out. Shiok... Inside Look to MBR shower: Still awaiting to acquire another black hose to swap with the current chrome looking one to achieve an all black shower set effect. Now onto the Wet Play Area: We crafted this area out from the original service balcony of the EM layout and part is now my study/home office and another part the wet area with the in house rubbish chute access. Pic take through the bathroom window opening so look is not complete. Well hope to get more when all the furnishings are in...
  12. White & Gold always works:) Will you have a cup of tea please! haha
  13. As for photos what I do is upload it to photobucket then simply insert the link in each post when I click on the photo icon in a post. This way no size restrictions and 5 photos max per post restrictions too
  14. my 1 cent worth now. Lived out my remaining months in my previous EM without a working hood since it broke down on me. Helper was cooking daily and the difference I realized was the living area flooring was sticky too after dinner and have to mop it out everytime and still not good enough. So open concept is nice but if you cook heavily then not as desired. Can still be achieved somewhat with a glass partition I guess so its still clear and open but with an option to shut it close when cooking as required. As for laundry, we had a dryer but prefered the sun baked smell of our clothes so we hang them out to dry in the older format EM but an option perhaps would be those new age motorized racks that can still be pushed out but less dangerous than manual for the ladies instead? Now as for tiling, well now since my new place is Vinyl it feels as sturdy and hard as a tiled flooring and mopping seems as per a tiled floor as well just that you cannot flush the whole floor with water unlike tiles of course. The only difference is the look will be a matt finished look and you will not be able to get a gloss or shine out of it no matter how you clean it that it but function wise I think it rates over laminates which I've previously used and the fear of spilling water or AC leaking water and spoiling the flooring is always present. So truly at the end if tiling cost is comparable to vinyl then tile would be preferred I guess since hacking is already a must for you in this case.
  15. Just to add I tested the wind of both and found that Spin was generating winds that comes on and off with you standing at the same spot. Which meant that you will not feel constant wind on you with the Spin. So scratched that from my list immediately considering the cost of it as well. But that's just me.
  16. YUp generally the sales staff there are quite helpful too just that the shop front and location not so good haha.
  17. Yeah we did a Full mod in our previous unit as well as that one was out of no choice as it was original cond and many of the kitchen cabinets were like rotten haha. So we bought it prepared to do so.
  18. Pardon my ignorance bcos always thought P trap and Strap only allows for the change in WC position used for the bigger "" WC units like many of Toto models and not a full shift of the position. But well if can be done and approved then why not.
  19. Haha bro we got the same WC in the end and yes was at Andamas for Toto then somehow said cannot lah the $$ is just too crazy then remember another Tblogger mentioned IXISS so pop by Wasserbath and liked the design there and took the plunge an a little risk but other blogger said no issue one flush all gone so with the design and this I'm happy plus the PRICE very happy... haha
  20. I've got myself 2 Haiku and a Relite for my home so far as ceiling fans and am already prepared to dump the relite for another Haiku when I recover from this damage with the reno Haiku has impressed me above just the branding many think it is but well this is me. Pros: Quiet even at highest speed. Good draft wind all around the area Wide span of wind cover Breezy around the room Compared to the reilte: Cons: Loud motor and blade noise at highest speed Wind produce does not circulate hits a single coverage area Not cooling enough for the room However this may be due to the blade size of Haiku being 60" for mine and 48" for relite but should not change the sound produce still. If you fear warranty go with the official installer for Haiku which will cost $80 per fan installed and according to the Auntie who sold me the Haiku told me main issues is with their light kit haha. I don't use light kits so can't comment but well if you ask me my view of the Haiku: Good if I can get it cheaper of course but happy with owning it if I ignore the cost.
