My Ceiling Fan Adventure Finally after living for 18 months in the new house then I bought my 2 ceiling fans. Well I didn't get my dream $1500 Haiku Fan as the price is really too high and I didn't want to pay it base on the negative feedback on their after sales service. So I got myself the latest KDK DC fan U48FP. Was $638 official price by KDK. Courts was selling at $580 and some neighbourhood shop selling around $560. When I saw a Promo for this fan at $535 each. I decided it is time so I went to cash and carry back 2 pieces. I ask for installation and they charged $60 each and need to wait 4 days. I decided to ask the malaysian guy recommended by fellow renotalkers, he charged $40 each and he come the very next day to help me install. I was worried about not getting the proper installer as sales person tell me if never install and balance properly will have noise issue. After seeing how it was done, there wasn't any thing to adjust at all, not like you have to adjust the blade angle, simply just screw on the blade and nothing to adjust. Only adjustment I see is to make sure you hook the fan properly parallel to the ceiling will do. Malaysian guy told me other model might need balancing but not this model. He asked me how much I bought. I say SGD535 and he say expensive, some people got it for less then SGD500. Then he tell me malaysia also launch this model already and have grey color. He say malaysia selling for RM690 and he charge $30 to bring into singapore and $40 to install, all in about SGD300. I argue that that is not local set and might have warranty issue. He say yes but warranty only 1 year, usually nothing will spoil, after 1 year also need to pay for KDK to come your house to service. Malaysia model need to send back to malaysia for servicing but for the price saving... I realized if given a choice, i should have just bought the malaysia one for SGD300 each while I paid SGD1150 for 2 in SG. Wish I know this option before hand as it is too troublesome to go JB to buy myself. If I were to get more fan i will look for him next time. Oh he also say grey version is by panasonic which is not sold in singapore. Bed Room fan, just on the minimum speed 1 of 9 at night is already too cold if not using blanket. See how many lights I have in my bedroom now..... Living room fan. i was surprise the attached LED daylight is very bright. Added another alternative lighting option to my living room. Something worth mentioning here is my curtain. My vertical blind in living room which i choose not to be black out blind, During my off day to use computer at home in the afternoon, It is too bright. So I contacted my curtain guy to help me install another curtain track so i could put a black out curtain. He managed to squeeze into the gap between the vertical blind. I bought this curtain in chinatown for really good price for this quality. $90 for a total of 4 pieces. 2 for living room and 2 for bedroom. The heavy duty track cost $200 so total $290 to get this extra curtain done. I conclude that best solution for curtain is to have duo track and a daylight curtain with a black out curtain. This is my duo curtain track. I would say my vertical blind is redundant already. Sometime I would put my mattress in my living room so that I could watch my movies on my computer from my bed. No sofa is good as you really have no space for it for a 2 roomer. Been using the fan for a while now and I usually turn on speed 1 to 4 only and don't hear any fan noise. If turn on above 7 you will hear blade noise. Yuragi is also good as it provide a more gentle breeze of winds. Comparing to the table fan i am using for the pass 18 months, now i feel my living room very cozy and windy. I just feel my house very cooling and I end up having my fan turned on for many hours and DC fan help me save electricity. Great purchase.... until yesterday I saw my fan being advertised for SGD425..........

PMed. It's not cheap. Only the E27 downlight holder is cheap at $10 each and they never spoil and you don't have to worry about changing drivers. Honestly if I have a LED downlight with drivers, i wouldn't know how to replace it when it spoiled. Scare of live wires and hard to source for drivers if it is outdated, then you buy a new light which will not look the same with your other lights. Not cheap to ask a electrician to come to just replace a light for you. Which is why I used E27 base. Just replace the bulb.

My beam is about 7 inches depth. Same for false ceiling. It's hard to find this kind of downlight anymore, all is led now. Buy first before you make your false ceiling. If you cannot find this kind and use led then no need make 7 inches so deep. But the convenient of replace the bulb makes me want to install this rather then replacing those drivers of led downlight. $10 for this holder that hardly spoil. I feel very worth it.

PMed. Remember to plan using a Hue Tap, cos each time you turn on the light, the default is warm white. Using a Tap you press and switch to the preset you want. Or else you have to use a handphone apps, more steps. Each Tap can set 4 preset. I make them cool white 20%, cool white 50%, cool white 100% and OFF. and i use blue, dim yellow, magenta and slow single random colour change on my other tap. Had my bulb for 10 months and no light issue at all so far. However Hue 2.0 is out already so you should buy the newer version. The best app for hue is Onswitch.

Curtain Partition Finally I bought my curtain for my living room to enclose the area for privacy and isolate the aircon. The area in red is my partition and blue is the aircon. The curtain track was already installed during my renovation. Specifically told them to add structure inside the L box at that area to mount the track. Bought the curtain at $110. Curtain opened. So lucky ready made curtain is just the correct height and length. Curtain closed. This allow more privacy to get change in the house without closing the window's blind. As my wardrobe is just behind the curtain, this partition helps a lot for privacy. In a small house like this, you usually get changed in the living room instead of bedroom. This allow aircon to go into my bedroom or the aircon from bedroom to living room. So i can save some electricity without turning on both. As my living room is 18000btu so I prefer to turn on the 9000btu in bedroom if possible. Added even more ferns for green. Gonna customize a new rattan chair in white to fit into my theme. I setup a computer in the bedroom too just to watch movies in DTS for my sound system. It's a messy setup but it get the job done. Once speaker spoil will not buy again as 2 room BTO sound proofing is really bad, you cannot really turn on loud to enjoy. Already hide this inside my bedroom behind all those doors and still leaked sound to the neighbours if too loud. If play in my living room will be even worst. So new 2 roomer don't bother getting any soundbar or good speakers, you can't really enjoy them without disturbing neighbours. Messy setup due to wiring of surround speaker around the room. After staying for 10 months now, I find I need a fan in the toilet, else the air inside very stale while I am in there. Was looking at this 22 inch ceiling fan by alpha fan which will fit on the the center spot of the toilet ceiling and fit within those box up. But I have to remove my existing light from that spot, alternative is to buy a KDK orbital fan M40RS. Would have gotten this alpha fan if I would have know of this product earlier. It should help dry the toilet faster too. After staying for 10 months, I realised the dust/dirt when keeping the windows opened is too much for me to handle. you need to clean/mop a lot, and everything in the house get dusty. Thus now I seldom open my windows. Another note is noise from the KJE, it is really loud if you are facing that road even at high floor. By keeping the windows closed, you can block out all the noise. Critical during night time when sleeping so that you don't get to hear any motor noise from the road. I cannot even hear the rain even if it is thunder storm outside my window. Cannot sleep at all if keep windows open, you will be counting the numbers of vehicle passing your block.

This is the best ironing position I can find in my small house. Got fan blowing me and aircon right above me. And lucky I put 2 socket into the carpentry. Now use for fan and iron. I am so lucky the base of ironing board I bought fit perfectly into the groove of my platform bed, which make it more stable while ironing. One bed setup to free up space. Might put a computer into bedroom. Cos I need to setup my sound system in the room as living room will be too loud will disturb neighbours.

I bought the Baron W888 with UF-05 seat cover. Been using for 6 months and I have no complaint about it. No problem with flushing power. Soft closing is great. You can see my installed pic from my tblog.

I noticed all my posted pictures are gone, just showing up as a link or icon. Probably due to the server upgrade which changed the interface slightly. So I took some time to repost everything all over again. Hope it is working as intended now as I am also quite blur on this new interface, the posting procedure seems improved.

Yes it is possible to configure a cabinet from blum for living room too, better quality but very expensive. When my current carpentry become old I am gonna replace it with blum. Besglas charge $380 for the box up but will not paint for me, my ID agreed to do it for the same price but paint the box up for me. The pole system and the sliding door comes up to about $15XX. So all in less then 2k. 5 months already and it still look brand new and tip top condition. Love the soft closing sliding door, just close until about a 4cm gap then it will auto close like blum soft closing drawers. This wardrobe should last me a lifetime, at most replace the roller on the sliding door only. Unlike common carpentry or Ikea wardrobe, they only last a few years then get very ugly from laminate peeling or warping or hinges misalign. The sliding glass door ate up half the cost.

Hi 2Roomer, no progress yet. Aiming the new KDK U48FP White. Hoping to see some review soon on this model and also haiku is launching a lower end L series, gonna see how it goes. Read about Haiku had very bad service for a premium priced fan, thus I aiming KDK now which is half the price of haiku. Meantime had been using aircon and table fan. Hardly open windows as it is very dusty if opened.

Hi Streamer, 1. PMed you the rack contact. 2. yes 70cm and I don't feel it is too small. Also I can use a single door now instead of bi-fold. Had my door swing out instead of swing in to have more space. HDB made the entrance for wheelchair friendly with no raised floor and I made it unfriendly with a raised marble floor......I will have a taste of my own medicine when I am old.... 3. I saw blum had a 10% discount promo and signed up for it. Since I only have a very small kitchen, price should be affordable. Usual carpentry for kitchen is about $3k. I went to blum and was quoted $3.7k. But I choose a nice laminate and end up at $4.6k exclude my granite top. Fast forward to today, I compared the blum cabinet with the carpentry in my living room, no regret at all. In fact I should have used blum in my living room too. Main reason : the carpentry cabinet already start warping, I see uneven edge on the door panel, cabinet door doesn't close properly I had to use magnetic clip. My blum is still in tip top condition after 5 months, just like brand new. No warping of door panel. Suggest you try getting a blum quote from them and compare with normal carpentry, if u can afford should go with blum. For bigger kitchen 3 room onwards, I think the price start from $8k onwards quite exp cos they have to do 2 side, I only 1 side. Learned my lesson, carpentry door will warp very fast if door panel is big, although it is subject to the quality of wood panel the carpenter used, blum door is slightly thicker thus reduce warping chance. Go Blum at Ubi to see the quality, they have nice mock up kitchen. 4. Thanks for the tips. However I try not to put any electronic in my bedroom which produce heat, make room very hot, currently room is very comfortable to sleep even without aircon or fan. When I come out to living room where my desktop computer is kept on overnight, the whole living room so warm due to heat from the computer CPU. Also I need the aisle beside my bed to tidy my bedsheet every morning. Instead of a flip down, I will just wall mount a slim TV there and use chrome cast to stream. This way no need ledge and I can still tidy my bed. But the heat from tv.... so i hold back first. Cos my bedroom is strictly for sleeping only, all other activities will be in living room where our computer is. Thank you for reading my blog and your suggestion.
