  1. PMed. PMed. I have no such problem because I never open windows, the dust is too thick if have too much air moving thru your premises. The wind from the ceiling fan is strong and powerful enough for me. However I can relate this information to you about DC ceiling fan, when you put yr finger on the fast moving blade of the fan, it will start to slow down upon friction with your finger. Even on max speed of my ceiling fan, I can just use my bare hands to stop the moving blade. Which i think if your curtain is caught in the fan, it will just force stop the fan. BUT BUT BUT, if you have a AC ceiling fan, the motor is not design to give way or slow down, thus it will attempt to chop off your finger and keep moving, U cannot use yr hand to stop a AC ceiling fan, it's momentum will persist until something give way.
  2. PMed. He is actually a freelance electrician from malaysia who do all electrical stuff like wiring, installing instant heater, ceiling fan and lights. Especially LED light repair, he say I am very lucky already to hv no problem with my lights at all cos he say other people have LED light spoiled within 2 years.
  3. Leaking After living for close to 2 yrs, I noticed small pool of water under my computer desk about 3 to 4 times over a 2 yrs period which I know water is leaking from outside during very heavy rain, those rain that makes water rushing down from your exterior wall. but I have no idea where the leak is coming from because the wood skirting is pretty dry. So I placed a cloth there to absorb water. Pool of water as shown in below pic blue paint. Until one day I was at home during a heavy storm and I happened to see this by accident cos it is not very obvious under normal viewing angle, need certain angle to see the reflection of water off the wall. Called HDB about this problem and they send a officer to my place, who inspect my wall and said he will arrange for the repair. Need to apply for permit to rig the gear on exterior wall for the repair, he said about 2 to 3 weeks. He also inspected my bedroom wall and we noticed this crackline which run from top to bottom of the wall. He explained this is common, and had no structure danger. He said I should have chosen those elastic paint which can stretch and will not have crackline. I remember I already choose the better paint instead of the cheap vinilex 5000 but still not good enough as I didn't go for the elastic type as I thought only the exterior wall need elastic type. About 2 weeks later they fixed the leak. I have no idea if it is fixed cos need very heavy rain to test. I saw them just painting a layer of grey chemical over the leaking area and wonder if this layer is able to block out all the water. The officer also mentioned that HDB carry a 3 yrs warranty of the new flat, which after they will hand over to the town council. Meaning within the first 3 yrs of your new bto, you look for hdb for exterior damage, and after 3 yrs, you look for town council. Lucky I saw this leak within 3 yrs, else sure get ping pong between town council and hdb after 3 yrs. My washing machine tap that link the wall tap to the washing machine also leaked, bit by bit, water droplet can be seen on the white plastic thingy below the tap. I placed a cloth there and it turned damp overnight. So I look for town council handyman service. Who came and replaced a plastic washer and charged me $20. So far so good again but I don't think it's gonna last forever, the water pressure is high and probably will leak again in another few years. I should probably mentioned, after using my ceiling fan for pretty long, I love it and never regret installing a ceiling fan, the light breeze it give really cool down the environment a lot for me, no need turn on aircon, just the minimum speed of ceiling fan is already too cold. So I asked my mum to install in her room too, I contacted the malaysian guy who installed my ceiling fan, this time I ask him to get the malaysia version of my KDK fan, which he say only comes in grey colour. $330 Include installation. And another $40 if you need to run wire for point. If don't like grey can get panasonic one which actually is the same as kdk and got black and red. When I heard red, it sound interesting to have a red ceiling fan if it fit into your theme. Really love the bright red. But my mum say grey is fine.
  4. Well the only complaint i have is it's so tough to keep those shine on stainless steel equipments, keep getting water mark, need to buy a lot of $2 magic spoonge from daiso. Does this also affect Grohe products? I thought people buy Grohe is because their so-called "Starlight" technology make the shine last more longer right? The magic sponge u mentioned sounds interesting though. Mind sharing how it looks like? What i've read is people using Autosol to maintain the shine? I'm not sure I'm that diligent to do that LOL!! I know about this product from renotalk too. I just soak it with tap water and wipe my white ceramic sink and it will get rid of those particles stuck on the sink and make it shinning, Wipe the glossy tap too. No need any soap. I also use this on the shower screen glass and the wall tiles in the wet shower area, it will get rid of a lot of particles on the wall, you can feel those particles off the wall when you wipe it. No idea what techonogy is this, but I am amazed. they call this melamine sponge and those from daiso is cheap at $2 many pieces, I saw the real melamine for i think $7 for just 1 piece and I wonder what will be the different.
  5. PMed. Yes 200 include installation. if I not wrong is for both bedroom and living room.
  6. Did you tested it with the heater on? I also had grohe and if the heater is not on, the water is weaker as some water from the hot pipe is not pumping out. Even when water heater is on, if water not hot, the pressure also weak, only if water in the heater is hot, the pressure is good on grohe. But also depend on the mixer you have on how the hot and cold water is mixed. I can only say after using for sometime as i also experience weak water pressure that I found out heater must be on and water must be hot to give good pressure. Only for storage heater, not instant heater. also shower head also have option to turn, if set to rainshower, water is weaker as it try to simulate water droplet effect, have to set to normal spray to get better jet. mine also have a jet setting which spray something like your bidet spray. I am using the Euphoria 180 as attached below which have this problem. People who visited my house have no idea how to turn on the water from this mixer at all, which I have no idea too initially,. Right knob, turn up or down to adjust water temperature. choosing all cold here will bring up water pressure if heater is off. Left knot turn up for rain shower and down for front tap, and lift the button at front tap to begin hand shower. The right knob is good as it fixed the water temperature at the way you wanted it everytime, unlike those 1 level type of mixer where you agar agar know where is your comfortable position. Well the only complaint i have is it's so tough to keep those shine on stainless steel equipments, keep getting water mark, need to buy a lot of $2 magic spoonge from daiso.
  7. Hi Ryanyth, I believe ikea curtains uses some kind of ring to pass thru the pole to hang them, so my understanding is your curtain cannot pass thru each L bracket as it is obstructed by those ring on the fabric curtains. Some curtain is you insert the whole pole into the fabric curtain. Does this mean that your curtain will not be be able to open/slide to both side to leave you with a nice opening in the middle, because from this picture I am curious at how the middle portion of this curtain is able to slide to either side, your curtain will have one piece in the middle permanently? If you do 3 L bracket instead of 4 then the logic is you still can slide them to both side.
  8. PMed. I have no issue with any shadow casting from the ceiling fan at all whether from my downlights or the kdk fan lights. My fan blade doesn't cross path with any downlight. In fact the beam helped to bring the downlight lower to prevent light leaking to the ceiling fan area.
  9. I saw this windows blind problem and I have the same windows as you and then I go to see how they installed on my windows, the L bracket is drilled into the aluminium frame, so you can still just install a venetian blind. attached my pic from my blog for your reference. yrs is maybe 1 cm lower then mine but should be ok to install.
  10. PMed. My stove is Techno brand using gas and commonly available in most electrical store and it's not expensive but I forgot how much i bought it for. Bought it for the low profile because my tabletop is already higher then usual due to the washing machine below. Gas valve just under the washing machine tap.
  11. I told electrician to make a 3 pin socket inside the upper cabinet, and it will be switch on using the lighting switch as you see on the side panel of the cabinet, and need to drill a hole to allow the led stripe to pass thru so I can paste them as you see the blue led in the pic. I kept the 3 pin socket switched on forever, when i want to turn on this blue led i just switch on the normal lighting switch which in turn provide current to the 3 pin socket. I have 2 such installation in my house, the other is the blue led on my evorich platform in the bedroom. The trick to this installation is you need a 3 pin socket, and you need to tunnel a hole to allow your led stripe to reach where you want to place it, and you need a lighting switch to control the 3 pin socket, and also please note that your hue stripe will come with a big piece of transmitter between your led and 3 pin socket, as least for mine, I don't know if newer version does, I believe it does as it is the transmitting unit to receive instruction from your hue controller. I can also use a hue tap to turn on/off the light if i leave the lighting switch power on forever. I hv 2 tap sitting on the cabinet beside the switch which I use to switch colors and brightness instead of using apps. See the hole on the right side which i slip thru my led stripe. I always turn on my platform led when sleeping, not too bright for the eye and I can still read the clock. My favourite is blue led. So look at your hue stripe and think of the way to tunnel thru your cabinet to reach where you want to place it and have your electrician wired the 3 pin socket to your lighting switch.
  12. PMed. PMed. I am curious to know how long did your led driver lasted before it blew? 5 yrs?
  13. Hi veto, I will answer your second question first, I used only 1 ID to do all the work, except I sign up with Blum Kitchen myself so I just get the kitchen ready for Blum Installation and I called them to come, just took 1 day to install. I also signed up with Evorich to do my platform bed which I also get the room ready for installation and arranged them to come. Your first question is tough to answer, its hard to break down to how much each room cost. I planned my budget by having a list of items i need for the house In excel and I keep maintaining it as soon as i got a quote or made a purchase. I can clearly see how much total I am spending on the house. I will attach here for your reference, You can try create your list too so you can visualize. As you can see I spend over 50K including minor household items which I didn't put into the list. I will elaborate on the Total ID cost of 20,830.76 which I paid to the ID. This sum consist of : Painting 1200 False Ceiling 500 Living room Cabinet 2000 Besglas 1.6m Wardrobe 2000 Granite worktop for kitchen 1400 Overlay WC flooring 950 Masonary work in toilet 1200 Granite Worktop for WC 750 Sliding Shower Screen in WC 800 2 new Besglas toilet door 1160 I can estimate I spend about 6000 on the toilet and 7500 on kitchen. Hope I answer your question this way can give you a better idea to work out your budget. I only have one advice to you which is if possible, reduce the amount of carpentry work to minimum as they are expensive and hard to replace them few years down the road when they deteriorate. You will see a huge chunk off your ID cost if you don't do carpentry.
  14. My Vacuum Cleaner Today i would like to share my journey on cleaning my house with a vacuum cleaner. When I moved into my house i got this with me. I used this on a everyday basis to suck up strand of hairs I see on the floor and any big dust that I can see. It become a eyesore to place this around the house and connecting the power cable to socket. I cannot live seeing strand of hair on the floor so I need to clean a lot. I decided to get a cordless vacuum cleaner so i don't have to live with this unsighting vacuum sitting in the living room everyday. After doing some research I narrow down that this is the best looking one in the market. I asked sales person how is other brand of cordless vacuum compared to this and all said no fight lah, this is the premium of them all. However it command a price of around $1200. Which is ridiculous to pay cos most cordless only need less then $500. I waited for promotion until one day Gain City selling it for $899 which is the cheapest in town so I bite the bullet and went ahead to purchase. The salesman did the usual demo showing how it works and to me it is just a vacuum cleaner with different attachment to suit your needs, I buy because of cordless need. There is a cheaper V6 version which is a lot cheaper as they are trying to clear off, it comes with a lower battery capacity. I wanted long battery so I get V8 Fluffy. This is all the pieces inside the packaging and some is not useful to me. Also comes with a walled mounted charging station which I didn't used. I paid $20 to get this bag to keep all the attachments. Hanging this in the Bomb Shelter. This is the floor cleaning attachment which I am very surprise why after using so many times the hairy blue and red area is still so clean, wouldn't the dirt be all sticking to it, all the hair and dust sure will dirty this. So I try to study how this work, I run my hands under it and then I was shocked. I realized this thingy is able to vibrate itself, much like a sonic toothbrush, it is shaking itself so much that all hair and dust will not stick to the blue and red area. What is does it when you sweep this across the floor surface, it is like a tornado just sweep across that area, sucking up all the dirt and dust and into the canister, not leaving any dust on the red and blue area as it is vibrating so much to shake off all the dust, that's why it is always very clean even after long usage. With this, i not longer even need to use the magic clean static dust wiper which i usually used. This attachment itself can remove all dust particles on the surface of the floor professionally. I used this once every 2 to 3 days on every inch on my floor. Then we come to this attachment, it is known as the mattress attachment. It suck up all the dust from your bed. The first time I used it, I got a shock, how can my bedsheet be so dirty, I sucked up a lot of white powdery stuff. Cannot imaging I sleep on so much dirt even though I washed bedsheet regularly. Where did all the powdery dirt comes from. I run the hands under the attachment and then I know, the attachment is capable of simulating the rug's beating action. Totally amazed at how much dust was on my bed and at the same time, impressed with how dyson designed this. This itself already worth the price I paid for it. I could use this on all the fabric stuff in my house, seating cushion and curtains. Cleaing curtain with these is better then using a washing machine. Just 1 minute of sucking across my bedsheet you get this amount of dirt and micro dust stucked to the black thingy in the middle of the canister. Battery life is great, I used it everyday whenever I see hairs on the floor. I only need to charge it once every 3 weeks on average. The disadvantage of this product is the short warranty period and expensive battery when you need to replace it.But after I found out how awesome this is, it was all worth it. I was thinking if the salesmen would have asked me to run my hands under those 2 attachments I mentioned, I would have bought it on the spot even if it is $1200. Now I just have this sitting in my hall and I used it everyday. I decided to write this entry because I saw it selling at $849 which is a really good deal for those interested.
