  1. "I feel they are very responsible, professional and skilful" Yes!! I agree! the fan coils installed today. they called me y'day and also 20 mins before arrival. I was a few mins late so they make use of the time to download all the cargo and stack it up next to my door. Since groundfloor unit, one guy was already setting up the condenser..or whatsitsname.... by the time I came. They did a neat job and didnt mess up the floor (as chemical cleaning already done!!) Asked me if I wanted to fix the remote holder and listened patiently while i suggested.. then also offer his own recommendation as to where can fix. Got cut pieces of the spongy black tubing... see my son playing with it..so cut it the right size, stuck a piece of adhesive and made it into a ring!! My son still throwing and catching and playing with it. !! Service that made a difference!! I strongly recommend Allbest! P.S will try to upload fotos soon.
  2. Hi! Sorry! didnt chk this thread since a long time. I bought a traditional one 240 x170 for my dining area and a shaggy for my coffee table... together came to abt 130 after discount!! n some bargaining Quite ok I thought. They have sales on and off and when I went there was one on for some carpets.
  3. Hi Bro Mace!! You are a gem of a find!! I was wondering abt the rods. I got the brackets fixed today (Ikea) and did not buy the rods... esp dislike the extendable one. Was wondering why there were not slimmer bamboo poles which i can slot into the ikea bracket!! Thanks again: I am quoting from Bro mace's blog: 1) Stainless steel water pipes as curtain rod - $44+ for 40ft ( cut to size, sells by per 20ft) remaining SS pipes were used as bamboo. 2) Copper end caps(stoppers) - $1.50 each x 6 Why use stainless steel rods? Cos You cant scratch stainless pipes. Curtain rods from ikea are a lot cheaper but the paint on the rod will peel/scratch off when you drag open/closes your curtains, and they are flimsy too. Use the remaining as clothes hanging poles (as mine is a ground floor unit I can hang in the yard and they will be purrfect ) Et Tu means You too??
  4. Hi! Mine done already!! By CNS - all window grills. You chk any Saturday newspaper got advertisement. Or email cnsmetal@singnet.com.sg They will send someone to take a quote. You can look for Charlie. Another company with very good service is A grade Aluminium ... look for Vincent. I am getting my window and gate from them. Pm me if u want the number.
  5. Hi! I have booked my hood hob oven n sink + mixer from Asia Excel. They were supposed to deliver today morning but due to some mix-up on their side they goofed up. My ID wants it all to be delivered and fixed up by the carpenters before the chemical cleaning on Wednesday. The guy from Asia Excel, Chris said that if the hob is fixed before the chemical cleaning the fumes or chemicals can affect the hob and cause it to corrode. However my ID says ... he has done so many houses .. the chemical cleaning is always done after all the fitted appliances are fitted And that unless the product itself is not up to standard chemical cleaning wont harm it. So who is right?? !!
  6. I bot mine from Orange Furniture.. Bedok South. Quite a lot of options. Service ok. Delivery on 6th Dec. Hope everything ok. Got some forummer complain about how their service not so good wen came to delivery!!
  7. Curtains... I dont want to spend too much on... I like change and I plan to go back to my sewing machine n sew them myself...as per my whims and fancies.... only want to make sure buying ikea brackets is not going to end up as a big folly !!
  8. Just to update: Trunking done by All best. Co-ordinated with our ID as to how to run piping. The aircon guys suggested some changes and it was actually better , cleaner and more practical!! Ask for 1st morning slot if u dont want delays (they told me that sometimes if the earlier apptmts run into trouble or have last minit changes then the installers get delayed) Happy with service so far!! Fancoils to be installed on Fri. They wil cal one day b4 to confirm timings.. Hope all goes well. Wil update...... See ya
  9. Hi Mace! Et tu?? Did u put single or double brkts? I mean single curtain or day + nite curtains? the difference in pricing is very high.. wen I compare ikea with others. Did u buy those single digit brackets (I mean the pricing in in single digit) or the complete sets..pole bracket etc.. which range from 29 ++ to 59... ?? Thanks in advance.
  10. Where can buy only brackets ?? How much ? Will they install for free if only buy the hardware... guess not if not must buy fast so my contractor can drill and install for me. I too have this very shaky feel abt ikea...curtains can change. But brackets or rods better get it done right and good the first time!!
  11. Hi! Am tagging along on this thread. I want to just install the brackets and the poles (double for the living for day n night curtains) Curtains I will buy as and when I find the right ones. But I am not sure the Ikea brackets can tahaan the weight ...esp the metal ones. Has anyone used ikea ones over a long period of time? Also i find the screws they provide for diy brackets are not long enuf and can drop off if the plaster peel or if the curtains tugged hard by kids Where can I buy simple (inexpensive) but sturdy brackets for poles?? I want it fast so I can ask my contractor to drill them for me. Spotlight .... I havent yet chkd out. Thanks in advance
  12. http://www.ergoworks.com.sg/ Very comfy. Supposed to be good for people with back pain or spinal injuries too. Even the kids range is suited for their spine. Have adjustable study tables too... only must have deep pockets.
  13. I think its a great idea!! Esp since you are not stuck with the same tiles forever!! Maybe you can be a trend-setter and get oodles of people doing the same later.... Reduce your footprint... save sand/ save cement and leave footprints on the paints on walls instead !!
  14. Hi Gumbokins! Been able to meet up with our elusive ID? Plumbing works next on line in my house, He sub-contract the work to me and go on vacation!! Osso the painting works starting on Monday... everything he agree on before we sign on the dotted line has now become "DIFFICULT LIAOW" "CAN MEH?" "GOT LIKE THAT ONE AH?" "I never say mah...." "CAN!! BUT u must top-up lor..." All these are becoming more common. If me I give up fight for every nail and say just go lor...but luckily my hb not the type to surrender so we are managing to get things done....
  15. I bought a couple of carpets from Ling Carpets in Joo Chiat Building. They have a wide variety and tho I was looking at speific shapes I got lots to pick and choose. I dont want to spend a bomb as I would like to change them maybe once in a couple of years. Will upload pics soon
  16. Hi All! After getting keys and inspecting throughly decided to hack both toilets wall and floor. Quite a few hollow tiles and some major cracks too. Also the drain is in between the basin and WC...so the whole toilet will get wet when we shower. The only way we can relocate drain is if we hack n lay. (?) so said our plumber. The kitchen however is another story some wall tiles are broken. Like where earlier they had put the kitchen cabinets then removed them... stains ..+ places where they had put nails have big lobang!! HDB had already hacked n taken away all the kitchen cabinets ...just left the base...one of which we cant use as we are not building 2 L's (upto 32 feet ! of solid surface!) we need only 16 feet of countertop ...which was just one L shape. But there were no hollow tiles and the floor tho old n ugly pale pinkish tiles...was in good shape. Same for service balcony... Saved on hacking cost in kitchen n service balcony... overlaid floor n wall tiles in kitchen and overlay only floor in service balcony.
  17. Yes it really depends on luck and how comfortable you feel with the salesman. The guy at GC act so superior n look at me like I am an idiot for asking so many questions. I dont like that attitude. Even if I go to the doc I want to know what is the problem n how n why shud i take whatever pills he gives me!! Even laymen can understand maah.... Yes it all depends on luck...and our own vibes... I generally go by my gut instinct after I have done my research,... hope it works as well this time as it has previously!
  18. Hi Crystal... Waah glad to see so much traffic here I had already given up on getting any response and was busy choosing my ID. End of tiring day for me...will chk out ur blog n reply tomoro.
  19. Yes I agree! Can start doing on long weekends ... and see how is the response. I can do on small canvas but doing on a wall requires good perspective and a very steady hand. Great job Clockwork!!

  23. When I stand facing the main door with the compass..it shifts one degree to the right of the point marked N wud that be 100 degrees North.....sorry I am not so sure of the degree of direction. Its just one bar to the right of the North...The N sign points towards my gate's hinge.
  24. Hi Mr. Chuan. This is the proposed layout. My entrance door is in the south. So i face North as I enter the main door. Do you think it is ok. Any color recommendations? Esp the kitchen and the bedrooms. More so the childrens bedrooms. Thanks in advance. Really appreciate your service http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=l...fengshuizj5.jpg Rgds, Lakmy
  25. Hi! I have got quotes from a couple of window grill suppliers. The best is from CNS in Ang Mo Kio at 8 pft for wrought Iron. Is wrought iron really more stronger than Aluminium? Or will aluminiun grills work just fine? Has anybody installed fixed grills outside the window? Any regrets? This is only possible in certain flats. Am considering it as I have seen one neighbour who has done this and used the resulting space to keep potted plants .. Looks good. I was charged 500+ for window panes for my service balcony. The reason being its very big... he said. Is that too expensive... I must confirm the dimensions.. but is roughly 48 ft when i multiply l x b. Looking forward to valuable inputs and cost-effective alternatives from forerunners in the forum:)
