  1. You can try contacting Mr Tan at 8330 ****. He is a designer and can do 3D sketchups too. He should be able to do what you requested.
  2. Hi rachel, It is impossible for us to comment unless we know what the quotation is for. If you are just painting the 2 toilets and the kitchen, its definitely too much. If you are making a full revamp of these areas, depending on what you are requesting for, it could be possible to get such a high quote. It is best to give more information so we can try to estimate the cost of work before replying your question.
  3. The ID that I know do enjoy doing such designs. Any interested party can sms or call him at330****. Mr Tan. And talk to him about the details. Not necessary to get a contractor from him, but you can if you want to. Good luck!
  4. Hi Alexia, I do know some IDs that may want to do design as you said. Are you still interested?
  5. Hi AlexisH, What exactly do you want to do for your bathroom and kitchen? Like that also considered small meh?
  6. Hi Furious, Not sure if you have a Q1... Anyway, it is advised to talk to various IDs and get quotations to get a rough estimate of the pricing, and to find an ID that seems to suit your needs. Helping to understand more will reduce the chances of you being conned. As much as we hope this don't happen, in reality a lot of people would do anything for money... Q2 - accredited contractors/IDs tend to be more reliable, but do not mean that it is essential. There may also be some companies that while not accredited, but does a good job nonetheless. For example: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/70815-interior-doctor-pte-ltd/ The above seems to be quite a popular ID, but as they said, they are not HDB enlisted as they need to be established for a year before they can apply. However, they seem to get pretty good reviews. (I have not engaged them personally though) 3) I am not sure about renotalk services, but there are various sites that do offer quotation services. They are probably paid for it, but it can help you get some quotations for comparison, and probably help you to get a good contractor to perform your task? http://www.designanddesign.com.sg/ https://1*.com/ https://www.bidmi.sg/ You can give them a try or just get quotations out of them. More information usually tend to come in handy eventually.
  7. Mr Tan is the ID I contact normally, he can probably give more advice and information than an amateur like me =D
  8. Hi RenoTalkClaire, Well, not all IDs require you to use their contractors. It is possible to engage them for a design only. I am not that knowledgeable in that field, but I usually contact Mr Tan at 8330 xxxx for advice and queries. He has a lot of contacts that comes in handy at times too!
  9. Hi tgmlke, 1) Contractors also will accept installment payments, but may vary from contractor to contractor. 2) It depends on what work the contractors are doing, but painting of the house should take place before furniture is in place. This prevents your furniture from getting unnecessary paint on them. Hope that answer your questions.
  10. Not sure about whether the pricing suits your needs, but usually I call 8330 xxxx, Mr Tan for some recommendations.
  11. Hi Eugene, Or you can have a discussion with this ID, Miki. Call him at 8330****. He can probably give you some advice and get you a quotation if necessary.
  12. To my knowledge, by normal wiring means the lights should not light up when they are switched off. Might have a electrical hazard somewhere in your system, you probably should get someone to check it out...
  13. I think its a bit hard to be sure of the pricing, but a reno like this may easily cost 30-40k, taking maybe 6-7 weeks. But also might need to confirm the details with a contractor/designer. Last time I did a reno with this designer and he gave some pretty good advice. You can try calling him and talking to him about it. His number is 8330 xxxx.
  14. Well, if you need some advice, you can try contacting the designer I had last time, the number is 8330 xxxx. Maybe you can consult him for advice and quote?
  15. Hi v01ded, the plan seems quite okay. But firstly, you might want to consider the amount of space you have for your brother, as well as for your living room. For your brother's room, what does he need? a bed? any other furniture? If he is happy just to have his room, sure. For the living room, what furniture are you going to put? You might have to consider putting some things into your kitchen to utilize the space. But most importantly, you have to take note of HDB regulations and apply accordingly, in case they treat this as illegal construction. One of the simpler ways to make the wall might be to use drywall partitioning? You can also use rockwool to reduce sound penetration... Hard to comment on the window until I see the window I think? If you need more details or advise you can reply or PM me, I see if anyone I know can help with this.
  16. For renovation, maybe you want to think about how the design of your house will be, and see if they can satisfy your needs. For example, do you need to hack down or add walls? What flooring colors or materials you want etc etc Costing is an issue. Whether you already own the flat, or when you can get your flat to start work, when it end work and you can start moving in. Recently had a home renovation... A lot of delays and issues, better to have buffer time. Hard to minimize the issues that may come up. But if you have the details maybe can try to recommend some reliable companies to you?
