Hi Bonkitty, Of course u can take a look... in fact just ask Miker to bring u up to my house if u happen to meet him near our house. Anyway for the benefit of the forumners here, I had the privilege to kpo at some of our neighbour's house and therefore I believe it is time that I let others kpo on mine. I will be at my house this coming weekend morning from ten to eleven... PM me if u wish to drop by at my house.

Anyway the bloody building service centre really took their own sweet time lor.... I submitted my defect list on 31.12.07 and until now my defects r not done.... Call them up every day and chase them also not use... I bought my Cuizino built in oven from Poh Joo at $470.. I think quite cheap though my orginal plan was to buy Ariston oven... My friend who always bake comment that Ariston oven is good and she using that too Since I know nuts abt baking but I still want an oven to try out for fun I better dun invest in a expensive oven Hi Bonkitty, Have u submitted ur complains to HDB? It might help to hasten the defects rectification process. We also did not see much progress previosuly then i complained to HDB Barry and after that things got on faster. Hopefully this helps. Hi Jacky, I also engaged the same ID firm. So far I have no complains about my contractor. Minor hiccups here and there but to me it is still managable. I must say he had made my renovation rather hassle free. Fingers crossed, hopefully most of the things will be completed before CNY.

Hi Ms White and Doremi, Thank you very much for your feedback. I am clearer now Also will like to take this opps to wish all our neighbours a very happy new year.

Dear forummers, Can i confirm with all of you again if you are paying twice for haulage fees as follow: 1) $1100 (4 five room, not sure how much is it for 4 room) for haulage fees to HDB contractor? Was informed that this sum is the cost of sand and cement and the transportation of materials to our apartment. 2) $187.65 (five room, 4 room about $20 cheaper) payable to HDB Town council for the debris fee.

HI Meepok, Yes this $10 is on top of the S&C charges. Yes the lady is right, u should report the defects before ur reno commences. For us, we reported the defects 1 month after we collected the keys.
-
Hi Meepok, I had been paying $10 for the past 2 months. The $10 is for the following: Refuse collection - $4 Sanitary appliance fee - $6

Hi Meepok, For the defects rectification, good to find some ways to place your markings so that u noe where are the defects. Previously I used masking tape and after the rectification, all the tapes are removed. So me and my poor wife got to verify everything again. On the 2nd verification, we took photos. However might not be too practical if the 1st round has a lot of defects. I have no good suggestions to offer at the moment. perhaps more season neighbours here can advise? My only suggestion is to use a notebook to track. U can give each wall/ floor a reference and then use letters for the rows and then use numerals for the tiles (hee just a personal suggestion dunno if it works

Hi Shercjw, For my case, my ID asked for $300 fees to have the prospective drawings (which was refunded to me when I agreed to appoint them as my contractor). At that time when I requested the drawings, I had more or less made up my mind to engage them but I requested for the drawing because I wanted to be sure I liked their proposals before committing on the contract. Besides that, not all IDs are willing to give u a prospective drawing at the quotation stage. Of the eight firms that I approached, only 4 gave prospective drawings.

Hi, Wanna add my 2 cents worth of good food in Toa Payoh. In Lor 4 market, the fish soup is not bad. Behind blk 79, there is a coffee shop which is very famous for the soup minced meat noodle. I think they only cater to morning and lunch time crowd. It is very pack on Sat and Sun morning. In Lor 5 market, the dry minced meat noodle is also very good. The fishball noodle also quite famous one. The Char Kway Teow is also not bad. In Lor 8 market, the prawn mee soup/ dry is quite good. Then opp the kopitiam food court, there is a coffee soup which sells good chicken rice. In HDB foodcourt (the one at the basement), the rojak is quite famous one. (however i think the standard had dropped) In Lor 1, there is a coffeeshop opp the lor 1 market that sells very good duck rice and charsiew. For those lovers of hokkien mee in Lor 1 market, you can actually call to order the Hokkien Mee. The number is 62518542.
