I heard that my BTO was launched mid 2012. New rule on single buying 2-room BTO came effective in July 2013. I only submit my application during the 2nd batch of BTO excercise in Sep 2013. Booked the unit in Dec 2013. Probably completion date is 1Q 2016 but rumour is that keys collection will be around Sep 2015. So if that is true, means it takes about 3 to 3.5 years.Theme? I am a simple + lazy person, so I dont care about theme. Most important is practical and easy to maintain. I want a home, not a showroom. If I have someone to clean up for me, I dont mind to have a showroom though... And most most most importantly... I rather save the $$ for more comfortable retirement... On your idea of bomb shelter, personally I feel that the space is too small and I will feel stuffy. Esp so when I am not small size... So, a no no for me. Recently there is a new showroom open near my current and future home, so I pay them a visit. The standard quotation package for my 2-room is $16k. Discussed with the Project Manager, add something, less something, it came up to $18k! Looking at the propose layout by HDB, seems small yet able to accommodate everything. But... Door open and see dining table --> I dont like Look at the living area, seems big enough but where is the person sitting on the sofa looking at? Bedroom door? Bedroom seems ok but how long can the wardrobe be? Bathroom... OMG! after shower whole bathroom will be wet! Kitchen... where to put the fridge? Where is the place for food preparation? -_- Household shelter seems the only one safe... other than taking up precious space...

hehe, thanks for the speedy answer. My qn 9 refers to the floor. Beneath the platform, did the contractor lay the vinyl? Since the platform is going to cover about two-third of the whole MBR, it seems redundant to lay the vinyl flooring.

Looks great! Here come my list of questions... what is the width of the walkway (between wall and the wardrobe)? What is the length of the whole wardrobe? Since your aircon unit is at the center of the room, ie, blowing towards your bed, do you feel stuffy at the walkway? might need to add a standing fan? I presume the white space at the platform fits exactly a queen size bed, what is the width from the foot of the bed to the wall? what is the width at both sides of the white to the wardrobe and window? Can you please take a close up picture of the grooves? Dust should not get into the storage area when it is closed right? But it will be collected at the gooves area... how? Do you plan to just place the mattress without any frame? Does the contractor need to lay your MBR with all the vinyl and add the platform on top of the vinyl? if so, seems redundant? Oh ya! almost forgot! the height of the platform?That is all for now...

I think I understand where you are coming from. Initially, when being approached by an ID, I seriously got no idea what I want for my house. I just give my floor plan and ask what other information they need. They never come back to me... I also thought that they will give us drawings, designs and conceptualise the house before we engage them. But later realise that this is not the way. The ID will not give you and designs unless you pay deposit to engage his service. So, we house owner have to do our own homework too. Spend time to read other house owner's T-blog and go through some reno experience together with their pictures and stories. Search the web for pictures and see which are the designs/concepts that you like, save a copy. Ask questions like what you are doing now. Slowly you will be able to decide what is it that you want and what is it that you do not want. Hope this helps.

80cm still ok, looks narrower than that from the drawing. Think that side may be stuffy, u may need a standing fan there when aircon is off.

Hi, may I know why do you want to create that narrow pathway with dressing table? Is this meant to be a walk-in wardrobe with 2 rows of wardrobe? That will reduce the spaciousness in the MBR right? But then yours is 5-room so I guess even with the wardrobe should not that bad?

If storage area has to leave empty.. defeat the purpose. Might as well just get a bed frame then spending the carpentry cost. BTW, how much did your contractor quote you for the platform and the size?

The void between timber joists beneath platform must not be sealed with cement/other materials. No storage is allowed in the void within the platform and floor. The side of the platform must be sealed. To maintain a minimum 1 metre safety barrier height from top of platform to window sill/parapet.

Your HWZ link doesnt work leh... How to put up a "concealed" door? Any photos to show? And yes, the designer never thought of the hassle of the wet toilet bowl and basin on top of the wet floor everyday... My bathroom is more squarish, if put up a squarish shower screen, need to re-position the basin. Some suggested a kerb with shower curtain which I think the floor at the curtain area will still be wet. I was not able to opt for OCS cos is balance units. But the basin should be included right?
