Interesting layout with main door looking into kitchen. looking at both picture, diraf's should be the type 1. Even if type 1, are we allowed to change the door location for bto?

I just measured my wet area. the widest width is 86cm and shortest part (basin there) is only 60cm. Of cos 60cm is very narrow but I am still able to brush my teeth wash my face there. Initially I thought I need to take a step back to brush teeth due to elbow action but actually not necessary. And 86cm width does not feel restricted at all. So i think 80cm shd be fine too. For your reference. If you want to feel the actual width we can arrange too. You are staying so near anyway.

In order to construct a glass shower screen, you need to install a kerb at the base for the shower screen to stand on it. This is done by the tiler. The floor trap should be right in front of the shower area. But there are some bathroom got 2 floor traps but mine got only 1. If you want to consider shower curtain, you will still need to install the shower kerb and the shower curtain have to be long enough to be able to overlap with the shower kerb so that when water splash onto the shower curtain, the water will still flow within the shower kerb area. But of cos it is flimsy and may not be able to prevent water from splashing out as good as glass screen. but the good thing is it can be kept to the side and it does not look so crowded within the bathroom. Actually, even with the glass screen, the wet area is still wet after shower (of course) and I recommend to clean the glass screen, wall and floor tiles dry so that there will be no water stain on the glass and tiles. I do that every time currently and end up perspiring again after shower -_-". The position of your WC does not impact on the width of your shower screen, but rather the big window that is behind the WC is the deciding factor. Your re-positioning of the sink is a big task cos the re-routing of the water inlet piping and water draining piping is too far and it cross over to the other side of the door.

i understand the plan on having a lower area to trap water on the floor to be within the wet area. What I do not understand is that during shower, the water will be splashing around and wetting the surrounding area. In such case, you will need to wipe down the WC and surrounded floor area. If the plank / glass screen splitting the shower and basin is not wide enough, the floor in front of basin will be wet too.

ok, what I mentioned was with the presumption that you want to split the wet and dry area, which Rufus required. Rufus, another alternative is to have shower curtain instead.

when the morning sun is so shiny and bright, I dun mind the clothes to help block the sunlight. of course it is unsightly when there is visitors but then the chances of having laundry (in the early morning) + visitor is so low that it is negligible for me. But then that is for me. Since you dun need sunlight, then the ceiling rack will be good. the down side of retractable clothesline (eg. those in hotel) is: it will not be a straight line after hanging the hangers as the weight will pull the hangers to the center and it becomes V-shaped instead. Hope you understand what I am trying to explain...

if you prefer sun dry laundry, which side is facing east? what time will you be drying your laundry most of the time? am or pm? then you can see which window will have the most sunlight. my kitchen's external laundry rack do not get any sunlight at all through out the day. so i have also removed the laundry rack to give my small kitchen more space. I have also considered those standing rack but then it take up space and the clothes seems cramp together and I wonder will the clothes get enough sun light. My living and bed room is facing east and i will be hanging the laundry in the morning most of the time. So I have also thought of retractable clothesline just like those in hotel. But the longest length I have found is 2.8m while my living room is 3+ m. At the end, I bought a metal pole and V-shaped bracket from a nearby hardware shop at $18 and get them to cut the pole to the length I want. Contractors helped to install the bracket onto the wall and hidden by my curtain. The picture should be self explanatory. So far I am happy with the result and most of the time my friend didnt notice that there is a pole.

how do you block the water from going to the WC area? glass shower screen is a hassle to clean, yes. I need to wipe dry every time after shower. but then it contains the water to within the wet area.

u will be amaze that many of my friends praises the design of 2 doors... -_-

Rufus, I think the best design is to put a L-shaped shower screen. But u need to measure the actual area to get the measurement. Standard I think 90 x 90 but can be done 80 x 90. Try to extend the max til the window area. As long as there is wall will do. The basin can be reposition towards the wall to give more space for the shower screen. But then I think your concern is towards the WC side... You can ask ur ID if there is any sample of 80cm width shower screen for you to have a feel of the width. If you insist on the blue line, what you need to do is 1) reposition the basin to perpendicular wall 2) remove the bi-fold door 3) reduce the width of the bathroom door by extending the wall 4) buy a new bathroom door. This will make your wet area similar with mine, ie. having the basin inside the wet area.

no have! I havent even see my MP in person. but then I did not attend any of the RC event also lah. Yes they will charge on the rewiring. I was being charged rewiring of powerpoints, tv point, telephone point, internet point as my platform is blocking all these. Initially I thought I will be charged 1 rewiring only... >_<

lol! i like 80s! other than the exams that comes with it :x no space for table fan too. later this week i take a picture to show u the corner. btw, the plank width is only 20cm, that fits to the recessed wall nicely.

Is it? Hmm... I have never think of it that way, about the need of a big walking space, that is. Maybe subcounsciously? hmm... But seriously in the bedroom, I cannot find a space for the walking fan. I did consider ceiling fan but decided on wall fan. The decision point against queen size bed is really the change bedsheet issue. And the benefits that comes with a super single bed is also I do not need to climb onto the bed to close window when it rains. Maybe also becos currently I am sleeping on a queen size bed and the other one-third of the bed is always left unused hence wasted. So it seems the cons > pros for a queen size bed.
-
I got headache trying to plan for that space previously and my ID suggested me to do platform bed and make use of that space for storage but I decided against platform bed so that space was somehow left empty. I was also looking at Ikea website and similar plank cost $19 each. When I went BKK last year, I saw Big C supermart selling these planks too and thought it is a just nice measurement for that space and hence decided to carry them back to SG. 4 pcs altogether and 2 pcs were installed above the washing machine. Each cost about $10 roughly. So I save $9 x 4 = $36 I am used to wall fan in my parents house, cleaning is of cos more troublesome compare to standing fan but I am ok with it. Most importantly is I can save space. Cos I cant find a good location for a standing fan in my room without blocking the way...

when tile is rough it is not slippery, yes. but it is also more difficult to clean cos oil will stick onto it easier too. I bought a similar lamp from TB. lost the link and price but it shd be < $20 but of cos the plug is for china and not for sg. just need an adapter to use it in sg. cant wait to see ur further update!

let you have some idea on the width of the room. mine is 3150. after putting the bed, i only have about 1.5 feet space to walk.
-
TV can just hang on wall, save space.

thks, I love my day bed too! another BB! The good thing about the newer design with bathroom door open to living room is u get to have queen size bed! My lights are simple squarish LED lights. Same design but different size for different rooms. conceal in wall. electrician will drill and reposition it.

:(' I have been sleeping on a queen size bed for the past 15 years... go see my bedroom layout. my bathroom door is right in the middle on 1 side of the wall, that makes the wardrobe on that side of the wall out. I dont want my bed to lean right against the window side wall which makes changing of bed sheet very difficult. so my only choice is super single bed... :('
