  1. Super love your layout man! Agree to knock down the walls and create an open concept living - kitchen! You can also extend your study to the main bedroom and make your MBR super luxurious!!
  2. I am using Mitsubishi. Serving me great! Has some savings on electricity too
  3. Baked cod and chorizo http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/baked-cod-chorizo This is really easy and you can get the Chorizo (spanish cured sausage) from Cold Storage. You can skip the saffron threads if you want to save some money If you don't want it too salty, can put lesser salt than what is stated in the instructions. After you start cooking the sausages, potatoes and the leeks, you will get something like this: Subsequently, you can put the cod fish on top of the potatoes and meats and cover the wok with the cover. The water will help to steam the fish. Leave it for about 10 minutes and you should be done! Cod cooks quite quickly Enjoy!
  4. Here are a few pictures taken by my ID when he popped by for a quick visit. I think IDs take pictures in a different way from regular folk! He had managed to get connected with a good contractor, so he is now able to not only take on design projects but the whole 9 yards. Happy for him! Next up, I would like to share another simple recipe that I came across recently!!
  5. Gorgeous! Please take a full view of your room with the cosy corner! Hard to imagine what it looks like. Haha.
  6. Your house is super gorgeous! Your layout is quite unique though! Didn't know that there are still these kinds of layouts! Where are the photos of your rooms and bathrooms?
  7. Yeah, that's the bane of my life too. And transferring the food bits to the bin is another problem. I have seen in Europe and the US that they have those blending thing at the bottom of the sink where it automatically minces up the food bits so it can be flushed down the drain!
  8. I super love your kitchen sink! I went with double sinks at the end of the day for my home, but perhaps going with a 1 large one might have been the better choice! Does your sink come with those convertable things where it can become a chopping board or drainer?
  9. I think there are some ID firms that specialise in a minimalist look. You can check out this story of a HDB renovation: http://stories.cromly.com/stories/article/house-tour-loon-and-mels-minimalist-and-muji-filled-home If you want to save more money, going with Muji or Ikea to help them plan out your space can be cheaper as well. Ikea sells every type of kitchen cabinets, stove, hood, etc. imaginable!
  10. Hi all, Just wanted to share with all of you about something in the news today. http://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/home-design/fleeced-by-interior-designer Government is moving towards having accreditation, those who have not yet signed up with an ID or just signed up with one might want to check the article out.
  11. I had managed to cook this in my kitchen last night. Korean army stew or Budae Jjigae. Really easy to make, much easier than a regular Chinese steamboat. I followed the recipe in: http://mykoreankitchen.com/army-stew-budae-jjigae/ but swapped out a few ingredients because either I don't have them at home or I don't really like some of them! The ingredients I took out were: Spam swapped with picnic ham Rice wine swapped with apple cider vinegar Chicken stock swapped with Japanese herbal stock Oyster mushrooms with Xiao Bai Cai The rest were more or less the same! I used a mini steamboat that we had, so it is even more convenient and can just eat right out of the pot! Warning though: if you add the noodles, then perhaps cook less rice as it can be rather filling! And 3/4 a tablespoon of Korean chilli paste if you don't want too spicy. In the end, this was the final outcome: Super easy, do give it a try!
  12. @pipsqueak thank you! The laundry area was a must although it did make the kitchen a bit darker than I would have like. It is very convenient, especially since my laundry area flooded yesterday when I forgot to take in the clothes when it was raining and they were soaking wet when I brought them in!
  13. I also regret not having a dedicated space for my oven! Haha. I should have maximised the counter space layout in my kitchen when I had the chance!
  14. Thanks much @bykaraanne! I will try these when I am finished with my supplies! On a side note, I didn't know that Japan Home sells Glade air fresheners too!
  15. I thought that I could share some of the awesome cleaning supplies that I cannot do without. I experimented with different brands, but thus far, I think Magic Clean is the best! Fabric freshner: I cannot seem to find the mint version of this in Google images, but basically get the mint one. The rest seem to be quite normal. The mint one was really good in getting odours off my bean bags. Tried Febreeze before, but it wasn't as effective. Kitchen sinks and stoves: Once again, I tried a variety, including Cif. But they all seem to leave a certain residue. Welcome Magic Clean kitchen! Super effective! Toilet: This one is crazily effective. Introduced to me by my 70 year old auntie. She says that since she had started using this, she no longer have to scrub her sinks and toilet bowls. Just spray this, wipe down with a cloth and it's sparkly! All the stains just come off! Glass: Well, I haven't found a good one yet so if you do find one, please let me know!
  16. @pipsqueak absolutely love how everything has come together! Really nice and cosy home! Where did you buy those baskets that are under the sink? Been looking for those! Also, what is your experience having your sink and stove separate? My home is set up that way and sometimes I find it quite inconvenient because I prepare my food near the sink and end up having to bring condiments from the stove area to the sink area because I need those same condiments for marinating and cooking!
