We had the same encounter, its an popular contractor sommor. Boss is Jxxxx who are more fluent in Mandarin, Assistant is Exxxxx who handle English speaking clients. Promised to give quote in 3 days time, waited 1 week no update and sent whatsapp enquiry as natively thought delayed due to busy schedule since they are so popular in Renotalk. 1st whatsapp enquiry no response, after few days sent a more direct enquiry if still keen to quote and finally got a apologetic reply promising to quote. Ultimately no quotation and so we realized that a 20-30k worth renov is not worth their time.

We have clear idea of renov concept in mind, hence required capable/good workmanship to achieve. I will incld my current kitchen pics and targeted design concept so that any more referrals or self recommendation be more effective.

Hi all, Planning a second renov for our house. Had a super lousy experience for 1st round renov 10yrs ago, ID cant deliver as per agreed; change of design + poor workmanship, ultimately run away w/o completing defects rectifications Pls share your renov quotations and ID/contractor contacts if you have any similar or good lobangs, thanks. 1) Master Bedroom- construct walk-in wardrobe (20-25ft), platform storage bed and relocate toilet door location. 2) Kitchen- construct cement/steel structure island table (800mm X 300mm), kitchen cabinet (8ft lower, 11ft upper), kitchen sliding door (5ft) 3) Hall- Cement screed L-shape wall 4) Paint whole house 5) Vanish Marble flooring (1 hall + 3 bedroom) 6) AC: System 4 or System 3 +1 7) Window grilles (whole unit) + 1 external balcony Thanks!

From my lousy experience as 1st time home owner with an irresponsible contractor, we clients are always on the losing end (sadly). We wasnt happy and uncomfortable with the level of workmanship, defects plus delays and hence suspended progressive payment till rectifications are done. At that point of time, renovation was about 75% paid. Contractor retaliated by suspending work, 1st sign of being @ contractor's mercy. Had a round of negotiation to resume work and reduced next due payment % to ensure he delivers. Renov was finally completed and we withheld a small % of bal payment since final rectifications wasn't done! Our contractor went MIA. As part of our contract, final % payment is payable to contractor when rectifications are completed and accepted by client. Consulted lawyer and was told since reached work completion, contractor is entitled to full payment irregardless of conditions (lousy workmanship and outstanding rectifications), even though rectifications are part of contractual terms. So even if we go CASE or police report or lawyer...its still a lost case.
