  1. that is a nice PLL light for the toilet, but $80 seems on a high side. I use the the square PLL light(32W) for my kitchen, 2 of them, cos the kitchen has 2 lighting points. no $ to buy the rectangular ones. zzz.. my preferred shape.
  2. 8. how much did you spend on ur lights?
  3. I also have a Square PLL light - 32W but at $75. is yours the smallest version? cos I have seen 3 sizes. smallest(forget what watt) used for toilet: is ur 12W used in the toilet? medium (32W) i thought mine was already the smallest until i see urs. big (??W) for living room use. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- anyway, to those who are buying round hamburger light(menthos lookalike), beware, there are also different sizes. i bought mine (22W) at the price of a (32W) hamburger light. angry. shops normally sell between $16-$18 for the 22W and $28-$35 for the 32W. I paid $22 for a small (22W) hamburger. / ------------------------------------------------------------------- my lights are effectively $850++ but after all the mark up from downlight (difference of $5 each) 3 hamburger lights (difference of $6 each) 1 display halogen light at $23 (those small small kind, NOT made from GOLD) 4 T8 lights (dont dare to see the price diff) 4 glass square light (difference of $17 each) 1 crystal dining light (difference of $40) 1 stupid door bell at $38 (when u guys can get for free, haha) now my official price for lights + GST is $1050... so now you have a rough idea how much our nice ID take for kopi (20% for the 'hard' work to go in with us) so, for those who haven't go lights shopping, I think you study the lights first. want it hassle free, then go with ID but prepare to pay more. given a choice again, I would want to go alone. with the 20%, i could have got my 1st choice lights... arrghh...my milo bowl toilet lights..... drooll.... now I can only look at hamburger... may I strike 4D (maybe in my dreams)... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ JUST realised that you can get your hamburger light at $12...more price difference..... zzzzzz..
  4. the glass panel has 3 types but the more common types are the straight and the curved ones, there is also wave ones *less common. I wanted to buy the rectangular straight ones but my "id" shop quote me a whopping $115 for one, though listed price is $135 which I think it is a chop price. to keep my whole budget at 1k, I go for a square one instead at $75, wonder if it is another chop price. haiz. thanks alister, mine is a T8, at first shop seller gave me T5, say that T5 won't flicker, will on when switch is on, he say T8 is cheaper but will see pink shade of light when I on it. the seller before this shop, tells me that T8 is more energy saving. duno how true. this is the PLL light i m talking about, how could it be $10? Well $86 is a steal.. though I have shops quoting me at $80 each also have shop quoting $135.. duno if the price diff is due to the type/brand/watt of the lights tube in the PLLlight. do u have any idea how much a square type for this PLL light cost?
  5. I spent about 1K+ for lightings for 4rm.
  6. How much does it cost to customise a 2 window panel half height roller blind? is it true that roller blind is more expensive than curtains?
  7. May I ask if the price of Mit. Electric Aircon single unit, is it reasonable at $750? BTU 9000, non-inverter.
  8. most of the shops give only 6 months warranty, some none. better make sure it is written black and white. sometimes, no, many times verbal agreement doesn't count. they may say, u can give them a call or bring to them, more often than not, they forgot who u r right after you made your full payment... depends on luck.... huh, $10???!.... heart attack...sure bo? This is a PLL ceiling light, not PLC downlight leh, even PLC downlight one tube also not $10 bah??? the lowest I have seen for square one is $18, and the round one is $12.
  9. how much did u pay for the kitchen light?
  10. oo that is on the high side. anyone else seen this type of square light and its cost? or something similar cheaper than $150?
  11. since when HDB give a doorbell? only wires I think.... Alister, I didnt get T5, I bought T8. what is the main difference between the 2? anyone bought PLL ceiling lights similar to this? how much did you all pay for?
  12. eh, ya, this is the type of problem I fear. like getting lights on my own cheaper, then back end has to handle all kind of stress, replacement cost might end up paying more. emotional stress is priceless, : self-consolation: for my expensive lights.. but hey, depends on luck too, not all shops are like that, alister, how much did you spent on your lights? motorman, did you go to this shop urself or with ID?
  13. I went to the shop u recommended on sunday. got a quotation from them. it is indeed cheaper as walk in customer. then on Monday, ID bought me to his intended lighting shop. I wanted to only see see look look, then he told me that it is ok if i get my lights from other shops but if anything goes wrong, ie lights spoilt, wrong type of lights etc, will delay the work, and ID said he has "worked" with his lighting shop for a long time, so if have any problems, they can solve it immediately, then tell me I am paying more for quality light and service which I think the "more" goes into his pocket.haah.. hence, i am buying for assuarance, just want to know more of how much actually went into his pocket. i understand ID have to earn, so i dont mind but not too much difference in pricing la.. anyway, I have paid 30%, so if it is really too ex, i might just get the dining light and forgo the rest, as those weren't my 1st choice. and the choices were quite limited. is $280 for those 3 hanging crystal dining light expensive? the shop that u recommended quote me $240, looks similar, my dark shop said his crystals are not from china, but from eygpt, not sure if it is bull****.. well, got to trust my ID on this then.
  14. anyone has any idea how much it cost for those ceiling light that is using a glass slot-in type (inside it is either 2 or 3 florescent tube)? there are 2 type of shapes, one in rectangular shape that cost about $80-$135, anyone bought the square type? how much it cost? something like this but one glass slot only. and how much is these type of lights? commonly known as the hamburger light... i bought my downlights at $29 each, square type, those medium size type, double tube 2X13W, using osram ACTO ballast, expensive not? bought over 1k plus of lighting and yet no free doorbell...bought my doorbell at $38...zzz when neigbour say $10 can get one already. : /
  15. anyone has any idea how much it cost for those ceiling light that is using a glass slot-in type (inside it is either 2 or 3 florescent tube)? there are 2 type of shapes, one in rectangular shape that cost about $80-$135, anyone bought the square type? how much it cost? something like this but one glass slot only.
  16. wow, suddenly this thread become a good food thread by the way, anyone here hacking walls in your flat? how long did you all wait for approval from HDB? how much did you all pay for the P.E endorsement? anyone here hack w/o the need of P.E?
  17. there is a type of laminate that looks like wall paper, called EDL, u can check it out. toilet- they are overlaying, not hacking.
  18. well, if only ID be held responsible.....ultimately, it is still owners' things that were lost. most of the time, we are the ones paying for the lost. if you can find ID that will say, "oh you lost your sand/tiles/downlights/electronics, sorry hor, I replaced for you at no charge." Let me know if there is this kind of ID. be safe than sorry. Goods delivered, be there to tell ID workers to install straightaway don't leave them overnight unattended.
  19. haiz...that is y I didn't dare to buy all the electronics yet. Bite fingers and tolerate when i see offer at sitex.. this kind of theft is common, read some entries from jalan membina, some people actually have their sand /tiles stolen... wonder how that can happen.. but also true, the bags of sand has "no name". the ID have to be very alert... if possible, owner should be around where possible when work is going on. if not, get family member, get mil, fil, to 'jaga'
  20. hi dino, how much did you spend on renovation alone?
  21. How much did ID/contracter quote you for this solid top? any past users from this brand?
  22. it seems like the furniture mall have a lot problem with delivery... i think if it is not really that nice, get the furniture from the downstair shop will be better. if furniture didnt arrive, walk down and *xyz* at the shop.
  23. hi, do u mind PM me what happened? I am online.
  24. That is a comprehensive one. to add on, the uncles are mostly contractors. as I think only contractor can offer 10-13k pricing. If you already know what you want to do (ie have a design in mind), can try. If you know 'nuts' about designing or have no idea what you want to have or intend to stay long (ie like my case), better consult an Interior designer, however do expect to pay more. So far, the lowest quote I have seen from an Interior designer is 18k. Also doing basic. Just that Interior Designers will give u an idea how your house will look like with the 3D drawings. Contractors will at most do a 2d rough sketch. Contractors will mostly give you a very standard design since it is doing the basic. Hey jacky777, where to find those less than 10k ones? I wish to know. Thanks. actually, I was approached by these uncles before and promised that they can do up the whole house for 12-13k. My father was interested as it was cheaper compared to those quote that I have gathered from ID which range from 18k to 25k, so we went to see their workmanship. maybe it is the beginning stage, so like very messy, the wardrobe and painting workmanship wasnt really there. but maybe it is the 1st 'draft' of work , so wont comment much. then when we probed further, he said that the 12-13 k is actually a package that include flooring, painting, u know those basic.. then the rest will add on if we want more carpentary, which adds up to also 18K++ 20 k... no difference from ID. the house that he show us, quite obiang obit, i asked him 12-13 k can do all these? Uncle replied. nono,,, this one is 27k. I .......... the choice is urs, to whoever you are more comfortable and have more confidence with.
