did you try reporting this to their higher management? is there any contract that states that there is a 1-2 yr warranty on workmanship after renovation?

Hi PE endorsement doesn't cost so much. You ask your ID 1st, why is the PE fees $700? Most of us here did between $400-$500 only fyi. Must Ask. Tell him you know the rate. for ur infor,i hack the wall between mbr and the adjacent bedroom to make walk in wardrobe too. depending how much wall u hacked, mineis almost an L-shaped which cost $680 just on the hacking. if urs hacked is a small door opening should be even cheaper.

yup, i think the coffee shop is a good common place for us to meet up.. I was thinking (an ideal thinking perhaps), maybe we can celebrate some festivals together in the sky garden. (those in the excel list and adding up) for those with young children, can discuss which is a better childcare center to go. for those who are looking for furniture, can discuss where to get a better deal. for those with primary school children, can discuss which primary school to go or even have a study group, let the children mingle. I am not too sure how you feel..I am not from the kampung days, but I felt that ever since HDB was bulit, neighbour interaction is minimal.. how many of you know your neighbour's name? do u just know that he is called ah pek or ah Mmm? Don't let our children just go to school, come home, eat dinner then sleep. let them play, mingle and socialize. it will be good for their social growth. good for us as well.

buy a temporary lock, give the key of the lock, dun use the lock after cement screed. buy cheap one will do. the wooden door key dun give. no need to lock the wooden door, just close. when u have reno company, they will lend u their lock...different lock, only u and ID have the key. so no pointing fingers if anything is lost. dun leave valuables in the house.

Hi, a fast reply, my lighting point charge is $30 each ($5 cheaper) but my light installation is $15 each ($5 more expensive) Hood and hob point is $120...($30 more expensive) I think they put some price lower, some higher, end up we still pay quite a hefty sum. if you find your quote too expensive, try negotiating a lower price with ur ID, if cannot, then engage another electrician, you can browse through the electrical forum for some electricians which forumers have used. The prices quoted to us are mark-up + mark-up.. if your ID can lower his commission, then win-win situation for both. u have 33 lights?? HmmMMm...y so many?

how many lighting points do you have? will be good if you list out the details of the $2.3k. How much do they charge you for the hood and hoob point?

I am a starhub user, the reception always get cut off when i took the lift from 30th floor to level 1. Weak reception in the house as well.

mswhite, tell u one freaking thing, my hacking cost ALONE is $680 (hacking a L wall, u know the wall between the MBR and bedroom 1. Not the whole wall even.) The $680 DOES NOT include the PE fee. The PE fee is another $650 to $700. so total cost for hacking is $680+ $700 if I get PE from the ID. I brought the ID to attention that other PE in Blk 79 are quoting $500, why mine so 'special' price at $700? He is a nice ID la, he said he will check it out for me. Then the next day, he called me up and said the PE can go at $650, but to me it is still freaking expensive, cos' all PE do is just do a chop on the floor plan. If ID charge me more expensive for other things, I take it as paying for a premium for his expertise. I appreciate my ID promptness in answering my queries, but so far his items are always more expensive than others, he told me it is quality service that I am receiving, so when my house is done, if his quality is good, I will recommend him here. anyway, back to the PE thing, so I asked him, your company only have 1 PE ah? cos' ID told me the PE charge higher price due to peak period and PE has many jobs on hand. (got such thing mah? can anyhow charge de mah? ID assure me that this is what the PE charge, he is not the one who decide on the pricing.) anyway, am still not convinced since other PE can charge $500 one week before this, aren't they not busy? u get what I meant. quite sad. so I told my ID, i try to look for PE on my own, Id is cool about it. so I asked the forum, checked the Website, checked with HDB. doing the legwork myself. my colleagues even laughed at me, they asked, u meant u got to even source out for PE yourself? what is your Id for? I just keep quiet. Give my ID the benefit of the doubt. Must have trust la. so.... I actually managed to find a PE at a cost of (below $500) and the PE even process my document without any delay, knowing that I need it urgently for HDB to process. Not trying to spoilt market, but just to let you know that PE charges as low as $XXX-$450. and it is the same paper that you will get even if you pay more. those who charge above that, it is still a question mark. if your ID tell you, only their company PE can endorse for you, not true. those PE that they engaged are all from peb.org all the PE has a serial number. This part, my ID has proven so. of course, if your ID PE charge you $500, can just take it, just take the price difference as the research and legwork you need not do. and btw, shay_d, my ID also tell me that my hacking actually doesn't need a PE but HDB insist a PE. maybe HDB ks? is the store a neighbourhood shop? *not bias towards any shop. imo, I will never want to commit a deposit for electronic product when I don't want to buy so soon. when store owners want a deposit, it is always on a very nice talking term, like everything also can. Those lock down price etc, but once deposit is taken, yes maybe the price is cheaper,do check out for actual accessories that comes with the things u buy, do a research 1st. Don't be conned by paying extra for the accessories when it actually come free.Let the shop owner be aware that you know the product inside out. but if the owner insist that the accessories dont come in a package, what can you do? U already paid a deposit, this I am sure NON-Refundable. just think of it, u pay deposit to lock down the price, without deposit, say 2 months -3 months later, you want to buy, as awalk in customer, you will also get the lower price, isnt it? not as if it is going to be more expensive. is the shop able to match other shops' prices if they are lower? all these must write in a receipt. but...pay deposit already, the worry is there. free urself from that. And since he will be an upper hand later on, you can't nego things with him. Look at it positively, the ID tells you right from the start, it is better than after starting work then stop half way. have you spoken to the bank? how much is the loan amount from the bank?

I think you can bring up to the management of Idea* house about this matter. If it is a signed quotation, I don't see why the company doesn't want to take. They can simply assign another ID to you. Come to think of it, consumers are always at the losing end. when we signed the quotation, we can't back out, have to pay penalty. when the company back out, seem like there is nothing you can do. is there any terms and condition behind the quotation that you signed? Double check. If this ID really doesn't assign any of their ID to you, as I believe the cheque for the bank loan is issued to the ID company, inform the bank that the ID company decided not to take up the job.. meanwhile go and source out another ID company, get a fair quotation around the price that Idea* quote you, then asked the bank if they can change the name for the cheque. Don't talk to normal bank officers, they will tell you 'law by law', cannot. Try to tell someone with a higher position that has authority, explain your situation to him, see how. Actually, if nothing mentioned above works, the ID co should bear the cancellation fee since they are the ones who decided not to take up. but honestly ask yourself, are you a fair customer?
