  1. Many contractor and their workers are not fully trained to do cement screed with premix. Most of them have some experience in the old method where they mix 4 part of sand to 1 part of black cement. It is not easy to level the floor with premix because it dried up very fast. My experience only. Please consult your ID or Contractor who are the best person to answer your query. You can also go to Youtube to watch how they do cement screed in other country.
  2. It is important to check for chemical smell. Good vinyl shouldn't have any smell. Just my 2 cent opinion.
  3. You can visit them at this coming fair at Expo. Take your time and compare. Ask for sample and bring home and do some scratch test and waterproof test by soaking in water for a few days. Vinyl are quite expensive as compare with ceramic tiles. The only advantage is that it can be installed easily without any cement work.
  4. Wall tiles can be painted but not floor tiles. If you get professional to spray paint floor tiles, it is not cheap. Vinyl flooring will be a better choice.
  5. Innovar is cheaper than Evorich but when they do take not the price quote is before GST.
  6. If I am not wrong, it is more expensive now because the HDB rules that only prepacked cement is to be used for cement screed.
  7. Just completed some minor renovation: Hacking of ceramic tiles in living room $1,100 Hacking of ceramic skirting in living room $250 Cement screed for living room $800.00
  8. Now a day, more contractor and ID are adding Variation & Addendum clause as part of the contract Sometimes, the house owner will end-up paying more than the actual letter of agreement.
  9. No problem, you can buy pre mixed cement and do it yourself Go to Youtube Video and pick ideas.
  10. Metal anchor is hard to remove and it is more for heavy item Check you projector weight and I think these nylon anchor should be fine. As usual disclaimer applys
  11. Pre Packed cement is new here and workers will find it very difficult to make the floor level. The cost will also goes up.
  12. Can check with the manufacturer regarding distributor in Singapore URL as stated below: http://www.ceramics-directory.com/CERAMIC-INDUSTRY/Distributors/2-52-0-1945-0-0-TAICERA-CERAMIC.html
  13. There might be some hair-line crack but it can be easily patched up with paint sealer.
  14. Choose the right flooring for healthy living... https://greentot.wordpress.com/2008/06/24/baby-non-toxic-floors/
  15. It is not toxin for the first year but how about a few year down the road. Nowaday even the cupboard smells bad and it has to be aired in the sun for a week to eliminate the chemical smell.
  16. Just for sharing... I have just managed to get a Vinyl Flooring supplier and he is able to get a sub-contractor to do the job.
  17. All rubber are toxin and should be minimised from usage in our home. The compressed wood that carpenter use are also toxin because chemical gassing. Currently there’s no standard labeling system for VOCs, but many manufacturers offer a low or no VOC option. Formaldehyde, one of the best known VOCs, is surprisingly common in new home construction. Luckily, it happens to be one of the few indoor air pollutants that can be readily measured. Air monitoring is one approach that can help prevent adverse effects of exposure to volatile organic compound. Vinyl flooring in open space is safer than in a confined area. Just my 2 cents of opinion.
  18. I was at Singapore Expo just now. I visited Supreme Flooring and the staff there said that they can get a sub-contractor to hack the floor and do cement screed. I hope this help to your question.
  19. I would like to get a contractor that can take small project such as hacking of ceramic tiles and do cement screed for a HDB Living Room. I do not wish to go to those shop with Interior Design staff for small job. I would like to have some contact here through this forum. Pls PM the contact to me. Thank You
  20. Can I ask your contact for this contractor? Please PM me. Need to hack HDB living room floor tiles and do cement screed.
  21. Just visited Evorich at Singapore Expo today. The latest price per sq feet is $6.50 for Allure HERF Flooring inclusive of installation without skirting.
  22. I think pre-pack is good in the long run. I have very bad experience with my old flat renovation about 8 years ago. The workers have to mixed the sand and cement to form a mix and do the flooring and now all the ceramic tiles are popping out piece by piece. I suspect they add more sand and less cement to save cost.
  23. There are shortage of sand in our country. Even when HDB is doing home upgrading, they are using pre-pack cement for wall and floor area. As for laying of tiles they are using pre-pack cement with adhesive material.
