Yup, I saw it too two nights ago. It's pretty obvious from the main road; they have even matching curtains for all the windows.

Think this will detinitely be co$tly. Perhaps this is more practical for small units (maybe not the HDB type, but those overseas)? Not sure if it will fit into the already-small bathrooms that we are gonna get.....unless there is a square version, and if it is made by Toto and affordable... But come to think of the 'dead' space, I rather not...

I managed to see it in the evening on the way back from work...basically the frame is up. Still keeping my fingers crossed for December (Blk B) .....hopefully everyone gets their keys by year end, then we can all party

Didn't see it yesterday evening.....but seems that they are picking up speed (probably good weather?)..... I'm still keeping my fingers crossed in getting Blk B keys by this year....that will really make a nice Christmas gift!

The Ceiling Fan Debate
CraB replied to reload72's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
How bad is the 'dust' problem? The design doesn't look complicated, and should not be difficult to clean? I have 2 standing fans and, boy do they trap dust (and fur)! -
What a great list! This will come in handy during planning of my needs/wants list...Thanks dude

May be a good idea to service it.....soon. There may be odourless 'things' that you breathe in without you knowing... Actually, what exactly is done during servicing? Cleaning of the pipes, etc? I remember the aircon at my parents' home, the aircon's air output is very poor, and it was bad because both the 'inlet' and 'outlet' pipes are kinda 'choked'....got 'slime' I think. And how much does servicing cost?

Things has changed over the years. One thing hasn't: my salary! Regarding global warming, I suggest you go ask Mr Google....FYI, climate change is caused by mostly anthropogenic activities, and aircon is one of them ... Solution to hot weather: Aiya you, just wanna learn & find out more (that's one of the reasons why the forum exists). Am still considering whether to install, then use only when weather is hot (i.e. no wind, warm night, 7th month, Indonesia burning their forests...), or just live with it for the next x years...and with more KDK/MISTRAL fans of course So, I assume you have aircon lah? TYM, I also agree on the regular servicing part. One of the buildings at my work place's central aircon is so 'wet' that many things start to turn mouldy....there's even a smell ! Depending on usage, I think servicing (cleaning of pipes, etc) once every 3-6 months is a wise practice. Wah, 7 years no servicing ! sounds scary man! Think it's better to service once in a while even if rarely used. Just miss those nice cool morning air/breeze...

Ah, whether it is a 'need' or a 'must' varies from person to person. Just like SCV or no SCV, car or no car, washing machine or handwash, etc, there are pros and cons. But why do you think it is a 'necessity'? Because weather hot? Or aircon is more affordable nowadays? Anyway, I am asking the question here because I wanted to hear the opinion of people staying at higher floors in HDB, whether they had opted for aircon or fans, and the advantages/disadvantages. It's the long term (>5 years) issues that I am keen to find out more about. Also, trying to save $$$ and environment lah!

I guess the servicing part depends on the usage? You switched it on from evening to next morning, or is it the whole day?

Yup dust is one problem, but I guess I have to do quite a bit of dusting regardless of dust or not as I own a rabbit, and she roams freely everywhere! Will need a good and reliable vacuum cleaner to do the cleaning.... BTW, thks for your comment! Also, I supposed you have aircon as well? Any problems/issues so far?

Hi TYM Much thanks for your feedback! Though I am not allergic to aircon, I tend to wake up with a slightly 'dry' and 'blocked' nose (also back at my parents' place); had always preferred the morning air (provided it is away from traffic and rubbish chute!). Was thinking about the maintenance, leaking (which may damage furniture and some type of flooring), bills (though my wife's idea was to only turn it on for an hour or two to 'cool' the room down), and regular service and maintenance. I guess staying at higher floors also means more wind and cooler air ; best of all, these are free and maintenance-free (though it's more $$$ for higher floors; but come to think of it, it's worth every cent!) Can't wait to sit by the window and enjoy the cool morning/evening breeze ! Had been looking at the Tanglin Halt forum a bit too; guess you are in the midst of your renovations? Or waiting for keys?

Hi all This may be an old topic, but just want to have a general feedback on the need for aircon. Am getting new flat in a few months time, and am staying at high floor (>30 storey@ Toa Payoh Central), so am expecting the flat to be quite windy. Am considering the need for aircon, but thought otherwise as standing/ceiling fans should do a similar job. Am also slightly worried about the 'hidden' costs in the not-too-distant' future of aircons, such as possible leakage, etc. Not to mention the unsightly trunking! My main use of aircon is to lower room temperature during hot days/nights. Anyone has survived without airconditioning so far in their new homes so far? All comments/suggestions welcomed!

Glad to see that you managed to post pics! Also, thanks for pics of your flat that you sent earlier! BTW, care to show pics of room doors? No worries about this pipe. These will be cut upon installation of your water tank I think. You can hang a towel on it for now...

Just realized that we only have three metal rods on the outside to hang our laundry. Based on earlier pics, we have additional metal 'tek kors' in the kitchen to hang our laundry. Look closely, I guess these are the extendable type. Will be similar to this, but probably not so many rods...only 4 rods? So, no place to hang my laundry on tek kors outside is it? How to hang bedsheets like that? The rods don't look that long to me either.... Then cooking, all the smell end up on the clothes....

Welcome Josephine. To my knowledge, there are 4 of such shops across our blk. Good idea to get more quotes and compare with others on this forum. No idea on how good Professional Design PL is. I guess you should be getting your keys pretty soon? Mine's still some time away I guess

Come to think of it , orange lighting kinda suits the tile colours....that is if you like to or do-your-business under orange lighting. Not sure about the lighting for blue tiles one though.....

If you succeed, please post more inside-the-unit pictures? Me and wife were at Toa Payoh central on Sunday; there was this "Remaking our heartland" thingy going on. Flipping through the brochure, we noticed that 'home improvement programme' toilets have similar designs as ours! Go to HDB, download the pdf brochure, and you will see it on pg 4. Can check with those uploaded by Mapleleaf; they looked the same....minus the yucky pipes. Looks like HDB really bought these tiles in bulk man...

March 08'? I think March '08 is probably the 'latest' expected date to collect keys.....but perhaps a better estimation can be made when people from blk E collect their keys & etc. Probably HDB needs more time to sort out blks A and E. I think it is better not to delay too long in searching for an ID.....prices do go up in a matter of months. Shivan, see if can find out a bit more info about the other blocks, like blk B....can't wait to take a lift up blk B ...

BTW, I'm hubby of carelinwen... No photos of units. Was only at blk C. Did not try to sneak to other blocks as still have many workers around. This is the closest I got to a unit!
