  1. With the wiring work done, it was time to go shopping for lights......and other stuff. So here is a pic of our bed (Scanteak), along with dining light, kitchen and bathroom lights. On the bed colour, we were going for something simple yet sturdy, and the colour had to match the laminate flooring. We were stuck with three choices earlier in the process of choosing laminate flooring Not revealing which colour was chosen eventually, but pics of installed laminate will be posted here in due course. Also, some of the goods we had ordered weeks ago have now arrived...honestly, I just could not wait for the installation of sink and ceiling fan! Can't wait to have a feeling of the fan!
  2. Following day, cornice people came to finish up on all the boxup, and filling up the gaps with that white stuff (that powder that's all over the house!). Thought it was a job well done! Boxup for the kitchen was not done yet for some reasons, so that had to wait. So, next phase was painting, but that could only commence in about 2-3 days later, as the boxes are still 'wet' (you can see the damp marks), and painting over wet areas will have big problems later. So we waited patiently for the painters....
  3. With the toilet issue out of the way, electrical works were next. As TPY79 4-rooms are pretty small, our ID figured that, perhaps, we do not need too many downlights (as we are also having a dining light and a Fanco Aroma in the dining and living room). So, with no extra wiring to be done in the other two bedrooms, installation of wires in the living room and the MBR was pretty fast and up within hours. It was only a matter of time when the 'cornice' people came to install the boxes, for the living room... ...and for the MBR (partially done). The box-up areas had to take into consideration the aircon fancoil unit as well as the aircon trunking. If you are wondering what those red and blue sticky tapes are for (in the first pic), these are not positions of water pipes, but a possible layout of my simple suspended TV console, a 32" TV and a Soundbar. These duct tapes did come in useful afterall!
  4. Same as you bro but different ID.
  5. Unexpectedly, our tiler alerted us that it is dripping whitish water in our common toilet. With the immediate neighbour upstairs doing painting, it struck home that SH*T has just happened.....apparently one of the pipes either has a hairline crack, or somewhere something is loose. My ID told us to contact our TC IC immediately, and immediate was their action. With a super rapid joint-inspection on the same day, it was speculated that the above contractor had most prob poured cement into the drainage, and had tried to clear the choked drainage by using bull strength and a rod to clear the pipes (not realising that these are PVC, and not metal...). So, half of the fab wall that covered the pipes had to be removed, the affected pipe saw off, replace a new pipe, patch back the saw-off part. The idiot that poured cement into the drainage ought to be then . TC people told us that such cases at 79 is very, very common. Luckily, it is not the 'human' waste hole that cement was poured into.....otherwise... So, here are pics of the SH*IT event With the problem solved, at least I can have a good view of the city from the toilet without sh*t water dripping on my head!
  6. Will have to clean it more often I guess! At least no worries if I pour or tao you or kopi into the sink
  7. Pretty fine; though the workmanship on the skirting could still improve....but anyway, who's going to lie on the laminate and look hard at the skirting? Pergo laminates definitely feels good and looks good too! Even my ID commented that it 'sounds' better than the ones (Sup*****) he has been using. I guess it is "yi fen qian, yi fen huo"! Had some problems with de-lamination (air pockets); but the problematic pieces have since been replaced. In fact the installer noted it, and was more worried and particular about QC than me! Will post the pergo pics in due course; too much things at work at the moment,
  8. Niceee, looks like Northern lights to me
  9. Will look around some hardware stores for it....on the aircon thing, perhaps a C-shaped metal structure that's small enough to cover the rubber should be fine? I would say that, with changing temperature, moisture and UV as abiotic degrading agents, the strongest should be UV (but this does not mean that changing temp and rain aini't impt). A piece of aluminium folded into a C-shape (like a huge desktop CPU cover) and sitting over the exposed trunking should do the trick (will block out a lot of UV, keep out rain, and will have ventilation? Maybe can ask your ID for a small piece of scrap aluminium sheet.....or go buy a 2nd hand CPU cover
  10. Hi Hobbes187, can pm me where you bought the plastic films from? And how much? I only saw those that are used for food
  11. Aiya, nevermind lah...at least it is still a Blanco In fact, I am worried that it may get dirty during installation, with all the white stuff visually standing out against the black
  12. It's ok lah; as long as it's good, can liao....btw, what colour is your Blanco sink?
  13. I guess it all boils down to asking HDB ....and as my ID is known not to take risk , most probably he has asked HDB about it liao. Anyway, there was no hacking: just that the pipes were sawed (flushed with wall) and sealed (then covered by our overlaying of kitchen wall tiles). I think the most critical part will be the pipes: it must be tightly sealed to prevent future leakage. And also no kitchen water storage heater in the future for us. This stupid U-pipe was a headache, and we had plans to hide it: build a cabinet around it, or a wall-mounted table, etc, then my ID got and there you have it
  14. Just before sharing a short story on the exhaust fan, here's a peep on the toilet floor tiles Back to the exhaust fans, we installed a KDK exhaust fan for each toilet, and had to replace the original window panels with top hung types. At first glance they looked great ....until I looked closely at the common toilet glass panel ......then the wire grids are WARPED!!! Why the heck is the wire grids warped? (If you don't get it, look from left panel [these are ok and are parallel/perpendicular to the frame] towards the right. Somewhere from the 4-5th square onwards, everything slants upwards). Have never seen such warped wiring before . After calling the company, one worker came by to adjust the glass Somehow the worker did not realise that no amount of glass panel shifting will solve the problem (it's the wire grid, WIRE GRID! ). Finally they got the idea, and it was promptly replaced. Phew Hopefully the glass panel is not passed to someone else Final quote not finalized as so many changes were made! Nope, did not mention who our ID was as there was minimal design (we were quite minimalist actually)...yup we did hire an ID (our worker ) to do all the planning etc. Anyway, will PM you....
  15. The very first draft our head worker gave to us... ...the living room and the MBR... ....as well as the kitchen... ....some new drawings after some discussion..... In the end, we made so many changes until our 'worker' forgot to give us a soft copy of the 3D drawings ... ...so much for drawings, now it's back to the real thing A glance of the black toilet wall tile.....pretty reflective! Finally, toilet wall tiles 95% completed ...and remaining kitchen tiles are done too ...and the pipes are gone ...delivery of the kitchen sink: a black Blanco ... Next came the aircon guys from GainCity....after some discussion with my main worker and the guys from GainCity, the trunking was planned and war began. It started in the common toilet... ...through to the MBR toilet, then to the MBR and to the other two rooms. By evening, the fancoil units were all up ...so was the Toshiba system3 inverter CU, sitting in the 'balcony'... Now, to the next item: toilet exhaust fan...
  16. ...next came the concrete support for the Blanco basin and base for the fridge... And, we actually forgot about the plan to bury the pipes that will not be used (we are putting our storage tank in the toilet instead)....but our 'worker' did not forget, so initially it was a 'shock' that a big hole had to be made
  17. Work on livingroom tiles continued the following day; tiling works in the kitchen had switched to wall tiles... By evening, majority of kitchen wall tiles were completed Must say that Bohua tiles do look 'wuhua' and good!
  18. Next up were the overlaying of wall tiles for both bathrooms and kitchen...hence some preparations had to be made before laying the new tiles... While these were done, tilers got about their business working on our kitchen and living room tiles... ...did not take long for them to lay most of the tiles...
  19. The bohua tiles are meant for the kitchen walls, and are ceramic. Dunno wuhua or bohua better....as long as they don't drop after a few months
  20. Next war zone is the kitchen....but first the floor tiles had to go... ....then the materials arrived ....toilet stuff were removed....and some instructions left on the wall by our worker.... .... kitchen wall tiles called 'BOHUA', my worker chose it ....
  21. Several defects were detected.......hairline cracks on tiles, etc, but nothing beats the acne scars found on the maindoor After much emails to TC, they finally agreed to change our main door.....so issue settled & on to the next phase... ....cement screed suddenly showed up one day... ...our one-and-only 'worker' who moved all the cement by himself... ....and by next morning, the screed bags were empty and screeding was completed...
  22. Couldn't sleep last nite, so I thought why not? Reno is currently going on fine, of course with the usual and , but at the end of the day, most important is that our ID has very good with us! No lah, not related. Hope I did not infringed on any copyright here No particular reasons for crab shack; just wanted an interesting name
  23. Honestly I would have preferred white tiles with minimal 'patterns'....but anyway these tiles have now been laid over....pics of that to come later.
  24. Looking around the livingroom... ...into the kitchen... ...into the bedrooms.... ....and the MBR,..... (so many beams!) ....and finally the common and MBR toilets. (colour scheme is ) Everything looks ok. Up next, the defects...
  25. Actually 79C started first (followed by D, E, B &/or A), so winning the race to the top doesn't count! Pics were also meant as a visual treat for all TPYers You could also imagine the size of the rooms (in 79A; 4th photo, right below), with the workers in it
