I used to live near the mrt and on the 10 th flr. and cld really hear the mrt noise (worse still there was a school right in front of my block), even my fren who was on the phone with me cld hear it. but i got used to it after while. now i m living near to a main rd and o cldn't get used to it bec of all teh screeching motorbikes sound which is 10 times worse than mrt (at least mrt sound is pretty monotonuous and u know exactly wat time the mrt will stop and start but not motorbikes). eventually i found that having the fan on cld really drown out the sound and create a montonuous rhthym for u to fall asleep. just my 2 cents worth...

went to Living Instinct (tink their stuff r imported from europe) at IFC today, saw some very nice wall clocks there. quite reasonable price $30-$60 after 20% discount (got myself one at $40). they also hv those huge designer clocks (60cm x 60cm) selling for ~$300. the shop is opened by TCS actress May Phua as she was the one who served me 2day. tink they hv another outlet at anchor pt.

i m also having a similar noise pollution issue, except mine is from the main rd with alot of motorbikes screeching which is very irritating. wat i try to do when i want to slp is on the fan and let the monotonous sound of the fan help "mask up" the vehicle noise. does help abit for me but not sure if it can help "mask off" from airplane noise.

Never Get Furniture From Nova At Trade Hub 21
jaimielee replied to kingzkong's topic in Home Furnishings
my exp from nova is: saw a bedroom set that i like but didn't c the price being displayed. so ask salesman and he told me it's now $699. I told him another nova outlet quoted me only $599. he say prob that person is manager and can make the decision. if i want it at $599, he wld hv to beg his manager for that price. he than gave me the set at $599. that night when i went home, i saw in newspaper that the exact bedroom set in nova was selling for $499 with a $200 mattress voucher! i was so angry, called them up immediately to complain that why his saleman was selling me at $599 and had to beg his manager to give me at $599 which is $100 more ex than in newspaper. also, his guy made no mention of the $200 mattress voucher at all. it was a total misrepresentation on his saleman part. his manager than admitted that his saleman was at fault and were be dealt with and will give me the newspaper price. as for the delivery, it was ok but the sofa came missing 2 legs. had to call a few times to logistics, but the same answer was given: had to wait for the service side ppl to come in the afternoon to call me. but at least they came the following mon (after the sat delivery) to fix the sofa legs. my advice is: read the newspaper advertisements for their prices or c the displayed price instd of relying on their salesman -

When Should We Buy Eletrical Applicances?
jaimielee replied to ckoonyin's topic in Electronics & Electricals
i wld recommend gain city at IMM 2nd flr. the shop only display tv but they sell other electrical applicances like fridge, washing machine. as long as u know the model and the cheapest quote that u got elsewhere, they most likely able to match lower. just got my panasonic inverter fridge NR B402V fridge for $845 (plus free $50 NTUC voucher) when their display price is actually $939. and 7.5 kg toshiba washer AW-8960 for $345. delivery free. have went to courts, best denki, asia excel, gain city price is the cheapest. -
try choo chiang is cheap. managed to get the following legrand 1G switch = $1.5 legrand 2G switch = $3 legrand 3G switch = $4.5 legrand water heater switch = $7.5 The above price is for the Model large rocker switches. If want the latest Mallia series, think hv to add another $0.50. Dun see much diff bet the Model & Mallia series except that the Mallia series is only abit more flat that's all oops forgot, if u know the model u want (can go to Legrand website and download) can call them and place order, they will deliver foc with no min charge
