  4. Hello Everyone~ Its been sometime since I last update.. Last 2 weeks was mainly carpentry fabrication, and painting.. We're unlucky cos their In-House painters decided to resign, so they end up use another outsourced painters for us whom they have never use before.. But sad to say the painters did a very bad job. I don't want to say how bad it is, because Dennis promise me that he will have them to come back and settle everything for me until "swee swee" (nice nice). So I shall see how "swee" first before I comment further on my house paint works. Today is Day 3 of carpentry installation.. So far so good. Pictures below~ DAY 1: Carpentry Arrival in the Morning~ In the evening.. This is the carpenter who is in-charge of our house.. Quite a nice guy, when asked him about those cracklines and gaps due to uneven wall, he assure us that he will help to filled them up nicely in the end and won't allow holes and gaps. MBR Bathroom - they ask where we want to place our basins and kitchen sink before they drill holes on it..
  5. For 1st home, I will choose ID.. Cos you only need to liase with one person. That person not only is your designer, also your coordinator and planner. A good ID will even advise you on functional issues. My ID provide a clear timeline on what job to be done when to maximum workflow, help me to coordinate with electricians and air con guy (money is not charge to him, I pay the electrician and air con guy seperately), he also help to supervise the renovation and send update pictures when we're both busy at work. This provide peace of mind, less stressful cos no need to keep guessing whether those guys got do their work or not. When we go up to do inspection during our free-time, and we realise something is done wrongly or have functional issue, we just snap a pic, send to our ID and he will coordinate and have those issues rectified for us.. Though on and off I still need to remind him a few things (can't blame them cos they have other on-going projects and cannot remember every single thing), I prefer to liase with just 1 person, less messy and confusing. You can ask for quotation from both contractor and ID, who knows maybe the price don't differ that much? Good luck on your coming renovation and Congratulation to your wife pregnancy!
  6. Sorry to hear about your bad experience.. After reading so many horror experiences from other owners, makes me a little paranoid. But I think its better to be careful than to end up ownself have to be at risk. Right now I am in the mid of doing my reno, carpentry done this wednesday and my ID already asking for payment saying need to pay the carpenter, and mention that if don't pay later carpenter stop work etc.. But I insisted that all carpentry have to be nicely installed without serious defects before I will think about paying up. And even if pay up, I will only pay the carpentry works. As there are still quite a number of leftover works to be done, which the last payment 5% cannot cover. So I just told my ID, the left over payment I will have to pay accordingly to job done. Never do yet = won't pay first. I guess this is the only way we as home owners who engage Interior Designer company for our renovation can do to protect ourselves. If pay them first, they will start to have the bo chup attitude. Haven't pay yet then got motivation to finish up the work. We shall see how it goes..
  7. I'm also using Evorich Flooring, also overlay existing ceramic tiles. Mine already done and very happy with how it turn out..so you can rest assure their workmanship is really not bad. Your completion date is earlier than mine! My one is estimate 23rd June.. Are you doing any carpentry works?
  8. Wow, looking forward to see how it turn out neighbour!
  9. Veneer doors for common bedrooms got some hiccups, originally arrange to install on Friday 22nd but they didn't do it. Dennis got it settled for us pretty quick and eventually it is done on 23rd Saturday, just in time for us to lock our items. View from main entrance.. Next up will be the carpentry fabrication and painting~
  10. Updates~ Box up done~ Common Bedrooms veneer doors up! Dining and Kitchen~ MBR~ Living~ (Note: the tiny gap on the right was patch up nicely at the end) Last Saturday afternoon our deliveries from Hoe Kee, Courts and Heritage Gallery all came on time and rather early.. Settle everything within 2 hour+. Rip everything open to check inside before paying balance.
  11. Nice house! Pastel colours make your house looks so cozy.. Do you mind sharing your curtain contacts with me? Thanks alot!
  12. Inform us his worker going up to do plastering at the window edge for window grilles.. Also highlight to us that the window grilles design will have slight difference from the picture we show him. (End up we also cannot tell the difference ) We ask to close up gap between wiring casing and walls.. There were some tai-chi at first saying it should be electrician job, but electrician say is painter's job. In the end after some clarification he say he will get his man to do it. Advise us on TV brackets.. Don't laugh at this lol.. Yes he even have to remind me to buy digital ready TV..
  13. ID Review Right now our reno already halfway done.. So far so good, small little hiccups along the way but we're very lucky we have Dennis who always reply to our whatsapp promptly solving our problems and provide instant clarification almost all the time. He doesn't know I'm going to do this, but I thought he have been amazing all these while (at least up to now, pray hard he will continue till the endddd ) in helping us with coordinating with all his workers to make everything happen.. as well as his help in passing his advise on functionality issues and design (although we have quite different taste, he always respect what I want). And I can get quite demanding at times, my tone can be harsh when I wanna get things done, but he always deal with it professionally and get the problem solved. Below are some of the screenshots I took from our whatsapp group (me, hubby and Dennis), scrolling back to our previous chat makes me feel really blessed and lucky that we have chosen him to work with our 1st home.. I've heard of stories of how some ID/Contractor are very "bo chup" and hate it when you point out very small little details and start rambling at it.. I'm quite glad that Dennis is not like that. So far those things that I cannot accept and need him to change/do, he will get it done somehow.. and I really appreciate it alot. Told him we want the shoe cabinet shelving to be maximize, he provide additional tier of shelves to allow self-adjustment with AA tracks. Told him we wanna add sound bar for our TV console and he come out with a perfect way to conceal the wires and have the sound bar placed outside to maximize the sound quality.. He solve the wiring issues for soundbar.. found a good way to conceal. Gout lines and Holes adjustments which he agreed right away to amend when spotted.. Flooring edges gap as well, as we are using Evorich HERF Flooring without skirting, need to caulk the edge of entire house to ensure no water can sip into the edges. Some parts are missed out due to cable casing blocking it, address those areas to Dennis and he no question ask immediately agree to get someone to solve it for us. Rubber seal at the bottom of the Bi Fold doors agreed to trim to perfection..
  14. MBR Toilet (love the transition of flooring.. ) Fix glass panel between kitchen and service yard nicely done up.. Bi Fold door also up but install wrong direction (should be open from right to left instead), told Dennis and he immediately say will inform supplier to change. View from kitchen entrance.. Starting to see the transformation already.. Next up~ 21st May - Boxing up air con trunking, water and gas pipes. 23rd May - Install 2x Common Bedroom Door (MBR door & Main door are arranged to install last to prevent chip off during carpentry installation, Kudos to that! ) 25th May - Measurement for Carpentry Painting of walls and ceilings will be done during the Carpentry fabrication.. Can't wait!

  16. I thought hard about that too, eventually my ID solve the problem for me.. below are the pictures he sent me sometime ago.. Wire connect from DB box to the bottom console.. The 2 pink rectangular thing is power sockets, underneath, inside the bottom console. How my TV will be connected to the console and power socket at the bottom.. Wires will run from TV to bottom console through holes and opening inside the console to minimize any expose wires. Hope that helps!
