  1. Last weekend, went up to new place again as we had an appt for turning on the gas. Our B&W elephants (souvenirs from our last Bangkok trip) had found their home on our shoe cabinet: When we saw them , we thot they were perfect cos they fit in completely with our theme, hehe. Tested out the TB frame with my Anna Sui x Kitty hanky: Put in some kitchen utensils, plates, tupperware & our couple mugs, all Hello Kitty^^ Cleaning materials too: lint remover, mini dustpan set & mini toilet brush:
  2. Hi bsxk, I have PM-ed you our ID contact & tiling quote. As mentioned, our tiling is on the high side because we chose an Italian tile, but it is the best decision we ever made. We love love love our flooring! The look is classic & goes well with any type of theme, and the light color makes our tiny space look so much bigger. Our tiler did mention that this tile is not easy to work with though, cos it is made of a harder material than usual, so it is quite difficult when it comes to cutting it. So far, other than a few minor hiccups, our reno is still going well.
  3. Hi Candy14, here's the link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.345.bZ24E2&id=38662295441&_u=b1taaa02397c
  4. Weekends are now spent mostly at our new place, doing minor cleaning as we wait for pending stuff to be wrapped up. Changed around the decor for the bar counter. Added an antique basket from Daiso & 2 glass bottles from H&M. Hello Kitty cup holder ready for use: Love the tap that hubby picked out matched with my Kitty sponge holder: New tea for the home arrived from Japan. Love the cute tins! Tried out the dining lamp without the shade, think I prefer it this way: DB box outfitted with mirrors. Very convenient for that last-min check before leaving the house & also serves to brighten the space.
  5. Our living room & dining area is predominantly black & white with some touches of grey. Looks kind of monochromatic at the moment. Will try to add some color to it soon. Shoe cabinet - view from kitchen. Love the coat stand we got from Ikea as it fits perfectly next to it. Just a DIY idea suggested by my ID friend: if I ever get tired of it as a coat stand, I can add some bulbs & convert it into a floor lamp. Great idea, isn't it? Some distance away you can see our TV console. However as it is too messy over there, I shall leave the photo for another day. Shoe cabinet - view from dining area. It looks exactly the same front & back, except here, the doors are fake. Assembled our dining table & chairs from TB. Purchased the same chair in 4 colors so as to play on the opaque & translucent tones. I really like how they look together^^ Dining area - view from walkway. Very happy cos now it is really starting to feel like a home!
  6. Hubby's sideboard in place. Simple sleek design. It's going to house all his game consoles. Finally our shoe cabinet is completed today! This was my initial design for it, and this is the completed look: The top part using black brushed metal laminate to simulate the look of window panes, to let in the wind & light. Top open shelves so that it is functional as a display cabinet. Bottom as privacy divider. So happy to see it "come-to-life"! First thing that we will see when we come home everyday^^
  7. Today was Ikea delivery & assembly round 2, so we made it early to our new home in the morning. While waiting, we fixed up the step stool that we got with our Ikea member points. It's going to be used as a side table. Roses & pot from TB. Finally have the chance to dig out TB stuff from bomb shelter! Everything from TB too except wood box & glass candle from H&M: TB decor again. Can you tell I love knick knacks? (especially diamond-shaped stuff, hehe) Glass boxes from H&M:
  8. Some minor updates: Shoe cabinet is in! Can't wait to set up dining table & chairs for a cosy eating corner Doors for kitchen cabinets are in as well: Overall view of kitchen: alot of white with some black + glass
  9. Hi mntan, Thanks! My partition is mainly 8cm wide & 150cm long. The space allocated for WIW is 160 x 150cm, which I am intending to do an L-shaped pole system. Hope this plan can give you a rough idea of the area. (Note: it is not drawn to scale) I have PM-ed you my friend's contact.
  10. And lastly, our sofa from Ikea in position & pic ledge mounted. How do you like it so far?
  11. My toyroom. Billy bookcases along 1 wall: Liatorp sideboard under the window: Kallax shelf at the other wall, PC desk in centre of window, coffee table yet to be shifted: Glass display cabinets next to door: Overall look, view from doorway:
  12. Next up: hubby's gameroom. Reading corner with a Billy bookcase & mini sofa: Mini sofa & glass display cabinet: PC desk corner: Overall look:
  13. More updates! Yesterday morning we made a rush trip to Ikea again to purchase our TV console & another sideboard for hubby's gameroom before our bed delivery & Ikea assembly arrived. Also bought some bedsheet & quilt omforter set. Fastest trip ever, we made it out in an hour! Delivery & assembly will be next Sat. 2nd batch Ikea purchases: A before pic while we were waiting for delivery: First assembly to be completed are the MALM chest-of drawers & PAX mirror cabinet for our MBR WIW. They are to complement our pole system wardrobe (which we are still sourcing for). If you know of any good ones, please let me know. Love the PAX mirror cabinet which hubby & I are sharing to store our bags. We got the highest one we can find & added a mirror as the door, so that we can save space & do not have to buy a separate mirror for the wardrobe area.
  14. Hi Freb, It looks like this, only a small gap for window to open:
  15. Some mini updates for today: Our MBR curtains in dark grey. Hubby wants blackout curtains, so he's pretty pleased with this. Need to smooth out though, looking wrinkled.. Hubby loves his wood blinds (please ignore all the ikea stuff in the foreground) My Hello Kitty curtains still in Japan, so "borrowed" MBR's day curtain for use first to block out some sun. Ikea stuff arrived! Tomorrow will be furniture assembly day. A first look at our full height kitchen cabinet, Pending quartz top to be in tomorrow! The only drawers in the whole kitchen & 1 of them is black^^ Fridge kerb nicely done too. Will update again soon!
  16. Hi Candy14, sure. Here you go: MBR lamp: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=39200957926&spm=a1z09.2.9.375.AVYOfj&_u=t1taaa02ac4c Diamante lamp: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3-c.w4002-4158991939.56.OBSVGv&id=43892390281
  17. Hi Freb, I'm not sure if this is what you meant by close-up? View from service yard Top cabinets: Drying rack:
  18. Pending TV installation, curtains installation & Ikea delivery tomorrow. Ikea assembly will be on Sat. Really can’t wait for the weekend! In the meantime, came across these which I thot are pretty nice inspiration to share. Hanging shelves with inbuilt lights, great idea to have display & lighting combined in one? Modifying drink cans to use as tracklights, unique! This small pic ledge shelf from Ikea can also be used for display /storage of spice containers in the kitchen. Or maybe a mini herb garden? Like the tiered shape of this rack from Ikea. Looks good & functional. Like the inspiration of this cosy chill-out corner in Ikea. The use of cityscape wallpaper to simulate a balcony?
  19. Congrats too!! I have been following your blog too. Really love everything you have done!!
  20. Our kitchen is almost completed! Except for 2 areas still pending for doors & some missing wall tiles. Love the simple feel of black & (mostly) white. Kitchen sink made with tiles - still need doors Hood is in. Pending quartz top & hob. View from entrance of kitchen. Top cabinets waiting for doors:
  21. Hi onehome, my place is self-designed by me based on the inspiration pics I found online (post #2). My ID friend is helping me with the renovation itself. I have PM-ed you his contact^^
  22. Went with hubby to Ikea last Sun & finalized our room purchases. We promised to let each other have free rein, ie. all designs & purchases up to our own preference, with no interference from the other partner whatsoever. So here's what we picked out. You can tell the difference between our tastes, hehe. I'm going for a soft all-white look to match my pink toyroom whereas hubby's room has the manly vibe. My toyroom furniture: Hubby's gameroom furniture: My fave purchase of all-time from Ikea is the Expedit 5 x 5. I'm sure many Expedit enthusiasts have the same feeling, as it is perfect for open shelving display. Somehow the size is just right. And it must be the 5 x 5. I had it for many years at my parents' place & I loved it. Imagine how sad I was last year when I heard that Ikea discontinued it, as it is the ONE thing I must have for my new home. Now imagine my happiness when Ikea brought it back recently, and just in time for my new place! I was dancing around the place in joy, hehe^^ So so exciting to see how our 2 rooms will be transformed come this weekend when everything's delivered. Can't wait!!
  23. Hi klkang, All the glass used is clear see-through glass, I think it is the darkness of the room /wall color behind that causes them to look purple /grey? Doors were basic wooden ones provided by the contractor. I only told them the design I want, which is that it must have a 2 x 4 glass panel in the middle. I think most door companies should have it if you are looking for wooden glass doors, eg. Siong doors, Doctor Doors, etc. I saw this design in their catalogue before. H'ever I'm not sure if they can customize the glass color. Beglas - I know tthat they do pole system wardrobe, but I'm not sure if they do doors as well. I got a quote from them for a very basic system but it seems pricey, so I'm still sourcing around for a pole system wardrobe that is not too ex. I wanted to get the Stolmen from Ikea but found out it was discontinued...
