Hi, I think acidwash varies with the contractor/ID. But if you're getting them to do whole house it should not be too costly. I am charged $180 for whole house - 3 Rm HDB resale. General washing is FOC, as they are supposed to handover the place good and clean. Mine is also an ID firm but I basically provided them all the design ideas/look I want and they simply execute so in actual fact no different from contractor?! SCV point - $110..and asking them to requote - for all electrical works. Hope this helps.

Hi all, I have chosen to use KRONOs Original hardwood laminate flooring for my two bedrooms. I would like a seamless ending so have spent to hack the existing floor tiles and work is now in progress. I did not intend nor have budgeted to change the flooring of the existing living area. However, my id has recommended to overlay it with the same wood flooring due to: 1) existing condition is not good - very old retro tiles with chipped corners here and there 2) he says they will 'warp' in time after hacking and laying the wooden laminate from the two bedrooms and most important and which I find quite incredilous is that 3) he said that due to the 'hollowness' of the existing tiles, when they do the endings at the joints between the bedroom and living floor area, there will be cracks due to the hacking and they WILL NOT be able to use/find 'matching tiles' to replace and the end result will not look good honestly, I was quite shocked and very disappointed. Now it seems I have no choice but to continue the wood laminate all the way to the living area. He has suggested overlaying it at the living area to cut costs (as I was strict about this unbudgeted item yet i want a seamless joint). I am ok to spent another $1500 just to make it smooth and nice for everyone. However, as I am using a light ash grey for the two bedrooms, it will not look good to extend it to the living - the whole place will look too 'greyish' even though I know grey is 'in' but I'm not going for an 'industrial' look. I wanted to use a brown tone for the living floor that has alot more wood grains on it and matches my cabinets colors...but again, having two different will end up with a 't-joint' that he will need to use at the joints!? So I'm like back to a catch-22 situation any suggestions?experiences? Wow interesting to know that there are quite a handful out there who are not into TV/having a tv in the living area. This is a thought I have ever considered seriously. However, as a singleton needing the 'white noise' I know I cannot do without one. . I've actually kept my old TV when I sold my place and will be putting it up (if it's still working! in the living for the new place. Still, I am so not gonna have the traditional TV console or wall mount tv this time round..for those who can do without one, it actually opens up options for a more cosy, open and truly interactive, living area as looneygas pointed out. IMHO decorating it with books and curios are a classy, timeless way to achieve that warm and relaxed atmosphere. Put up a painting or two or a piece of antique finds will do well too. Just like many of the expat houses I've visited! Having a projector system installed is another good idea - whatever fits your living style. I've ever seen those standard projector being mounted on the ceiling and looks quite cool and functional - just that it's not a nice reminder of those in the offices Aluka, did you have that eventually? Can share any pix? The reno for my three room resale at Hougang just started. And I'm already eyeing at a 'non-traditional' TV console..will post up the pix when I get to.. Good luck!

Any Renovation Firms To Recommend?
AngleFire replied to creamilyly's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Hi I am looking for reliable Electrician to do (possibly) whole house rewiring and all lights installations as my current ID CANNOT MAKE IT! Not as bad as scammer case but I am also going through the 'wild goose chase'; 'no sound no pix, no response' irresponsible nightmare story as most owners here. Hence, I am taking out whatever items I can from them in order to save myself some stress and frustrations. Such as Paint works too. Appreciate any reliable recommendations asap. thanks
