  5. nice to know you too. the porridge at the mkt? ABC one of my parents fav place for bak kut teh in the 80s and 90s. yes,i like the old one too. but i find the new one more stuffy, it enclose in circle, to me the design is very bad. yeah, the coffee shop in between twin regency and central green condo side entrance? i like that too, was there 2 weeks back on a sat afternoon, it empty...haha....the 7-11 4D queue also very short, buy liao went there la kopi. didn't explore the membina western food, will look out next...cheers. wait for your home pics...haha..upload when u free, must do it to your liking. but if u find the reno ok, than dun change, cos next yr, there could be alot of job cuts oh...your hubby now stay with parents?....so nice....near where in town?.....ok...have a good week.
  6. Well, what your friend say is true too. But if you need a place to stay, can't wait and can afford it, than just buy. In a turndown, HDB prices will still hold better than pte property. The worst downside possible for your unit is at most $110k paper loss. =) So you have sea view? If the reno is gd and move in condition, that it really a gd price to pay n save hassle of renovation. How long you allow them to extend? Than you not in a hurry to move in? =) Stove face toilet door? Fengshui no good? Can still move it more to the side? I think it important to spend it once and for all and do the place up to both your likes. Your place should look very nice after the reno =) load some pic and share with us? =) Actually my preference is Redhill cos my chldhood is there and my family like there too. Also have my fav Redhill mkt...hehe....But it an old man estates, units not very well designed etc. If you like bustling, why didn't u pick jalan membina? It nearer to mrt, tb plaza etc. and if you pick block like 19, it fully shelter from mrt and no worries even if it rain Where do you normally hunt for your food?..haha, TB mkt? Along pasir panjang, there a 24 hrs roti prata, not bad too....alot of good food in this area. Even TB plaza have more new food outlets like Aijsen etc.....Currently, I'm staying opposite you, along jalan bukit merah. =) Don't forget to share with me if you and your husband found more good food..hehe Just to add, happy that both of you found each other and change each other life..but do exercise, burn off the extra calories from the good food and stay healthy...than you will be in each other life longer and happier. Cheers.
  7. Very nice reno. Keep the reno since u have paid a high cov to secure the unit =) Cheers. Moving the fridge out to the dining area seem a great idea....easier to get drinks etc....dun need to go to the kitchens....if u need a big kitchen, than must spend quite a big to redo it...quite wasted leh
  8. Normally it will cost you $100 for the labour and 7% GST. Another $20 for the door viewer. How come your door don't have door viewer? Alternatively, you can buy drill etc and install your own. If you still have problem, PM me, I get my previous contractor to do for you, charges will be lower.
  9. Hi Carebear, I believe must be the 11x kim tian flats. See them condorn off diff parts since last week. Should looks new after the paint. What your valuation? ard 660k for 5I? Which floor? and how much COV u pay? After the 40k grant, should be almost the same as new hdb flat prices. The pricing by hdb are quite crazy nowadays. Did u need to do much reno? Hmmm....Queenstown and TB have their own advantage. The only reason for my family to favour queenstown is it is less crowded, more greenery and direct bus to Tanglin area =) Other things like convenient to malls, market, more buses choice, proximity to cbd etc....TB is better. =) Hope you enjoy your new home =)
  10. Yeah, u can check it out. See the 13th floor, I really sian half...cos you can see from outside, the indian family quite messy and inconsiderate. There even a sticker of Cisco on the door or something of that sort. The 7th flloor also not too good, when I went there the door was open and the tv quite loud. Seem big family, alot of shoes too and rack placed at the empty unit too. Can tell me the blk and full unit number of the 5 room?...haha...Won't mind being your neighbour, as you all seem nice people =).....i was told there isn't anymore 5 room except 1 =(
  11. Hi Carebear, Which part of Tiong Bahru did you get? Very good area. Got free shuttle bus to PS..haha. Go CBD very near too, alot of buses too. But somestime you can see mentally unsound people here, today I saw one in Tiong Bahru plaza when I going down the escalator from kfc area to fairprice. Also watch out for this indian guy on wheel chair.... =( Currently, I'm staying at Tiong Bahru too and is looking to move to queenstown area.
  12. Hi Carebear, Alot of people who needs a flat have the same problem the last few yrs. Glad you get your resale unit. Even for new flat, it could be odd shape, afternoon sun etc. Somemore new flats from hdb are not cheap and it may make sense to get resale with 40k grant =) nesh, relax, dun kan cheong =)
  13. Hi Cally, Yup cos quite sotong, cos been following this thread and Redang address a message to you..haha Was surprise there still so many units available in this area. Fyi, I know for 4 rooms Blk 49, #07-215 & #13-215 are still available..i went to check it out 2 weeks back...the 13th floor is opposite an indian family, there a photo on top of their front door, shoes alot etc...same for 7th floor, shoes and cabinets etc on the empty units.....hopes u hv gd neighbours =)
  14. Hi Cally, Really sotong. I thought you and Native02 are a couple...ops...thought the C for KFC stands for Cally..haha....Anyway, seem your reno also mostly done....will camp for more pics..cheers Native02, Saw your blog, your reno almost done too, can move it liao..envy...hehe
  15. Hi Nesh, Congrats on your better queue number. I think your number have a high chance of selecting a unit. Good Luck
  16. Hi alyplwwf, Really sad to hear about it. I can understand how you feel especially when you have been treating him like your father. But looking at the property market now, it may not be a good idea to get a unit as prices are coming down. If you are living alone, why not rent a room for $300-$400? When prices come down, than look again =) Ideally, you should only pay $200k to $240k for a 4 room flats in Jurong area =)
  17. Hi Native02/Cally, Thanks you so much for the list. Do you have the 5 room list too? Noted your suggestion on the reno. Hopefully I get my floor plan and keys soon so I can start too and be your neighbours. Hehe. Currently, I'm look at a unit in blk 48. It seem forfar height is quite a quiet place =)
  18. Hi Native02, From my understanding, HDB will sell flats in batches. Hence there are still a few units left in that area. For instance, I was told for 4 room in blk 49, there still a unit on the #7 & #13 =) Can you email me the price list to my email at wolaiyeh@hotmail.com if you still have it? Thanks. Sadly I can't wait until CNY, guess I have to try source for another contractor. Sigh. I saw your place quite well done up with a reasonable budget. I went to a few ID and was quoted quite high even for little things done. Look forward to your open house and hopefully being your neighbours =)
  19. Hi Cally, Thanks alot. Please email to me at wolaiyeh@hotmail.com . I may also want to consult you and your husband on reno later after I confirm getting a unit. You seem to have done alot for a good price. I only plan to do the basic stuff like flooring, painitng and lighting, any idea what the best price I can get using your contractor? Wow your another blog? Btw do let me know if you have an open house, my parents and I will be keen to come if time fit...cheers =)
  20. Hi Cally, Do you still have the price list from the balloting exercise? Is your open house still on? Cos most probably I'm getting a unit there too. Cheers. =)
