Leen, you da best! !! really appreciate your compilation lists, saves me a lot of time! i know which forum u referring to - quite scary, sometimes like herd instinct all just charge in one direction coz so many posts say good, very good. like what you do, i also prefer to make informed decision after reading up. some of the senior forummers here give very good advice and are so generous with their time and knowledge. i'm grateful and just wanna say thanks coz my reno almost 100% completed now and without renotalk.com i don't think i will have such a smooth progress!

Kronotex Or Supreme For Flooring
babyQ replied to jazzblue's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
my reno is almost done, i did laminated flooring for whole house but not using Kronotex. i read a lot of of the old threads on renotalk.com on laminate flooring and one forummer posted pix of his warped floor which was less than a year old. i quickly cancelled out the brand i had in mind originally! did some hunting around and decided on Alsafloor. it's made in France. we liked the colour and feel and also the price was competitive. every flooring contractor will tell you their floor can last. but most of us here have not used the floor long enough to share! but i do know this floor can "move house" with us next time if we ever decide to move! here are two pix to share: whole house in Natural Maple the curved platform in Wenge not sure if i post the url link here? http://www.alsafloor.com/1us/index.php?pg=22&Detail=42 hope that helps! -

To be honest, the relationship and progress was smooth-sailing until the painting incident - the subcon refusing to let me use Medifresh 3-in-1 when we had topped up for it. After the painting works were taken out, mutually agreed by both parties, the expensive pipe came up! Then bim bam, in a few days, more issues came up. But thankfully, reno progress is still smooth. I just have to be more vigilant. We spend money, must be happy to spend! It's not about the cheapest quote. They are not the cheapest quote, but we chose them coz they guarantee good follow-up, peace of mind, customer service, etc. My total reno bill to this main con is less than $20K for the works done on hacking, wet works for 2 toilets, plumbing (without kitchen), plastering, cornice and box-up, 2 windows, grilles, toilet doors, shower screens and gate. Do you think that is too much or too little? Flooring, aircon, electrician and carpentry are all separate contractors. Adding all up, you will know my total reno bill not $20K, just that the main con doesn't get the bulk of the profits since everything is split up. So you are spot on there that their bottomline is affected but on the other hand, they have definitely made $ from all the other mark-ups.

wah! really ah? u r right, after chemical wash, the gunk is gone. the tiler told me it was cornice powder, not sand. hopefully this is the end of it.

What is wrought aluminium gate? I know wrought iron gate - galvanised to prevent rust. But got wrought aluminium? It supposedly costs $1K for a 3x7 ft gate. x2++ of a wrought iron gate. Anyone knows? Thanks!

Courts Megastore in Tampines. you can see all the different brands/models there. my limited knowledge: Bosch is very energy and water efficient, it has 4 ticks. it is quite popular in Australia. i get all my white goods from GAB, but u can try the two other stores always mentioned here also. not sure the names/numbers. RPM is the how many times it spins per minute. (i am not technical, my explanation may be wrong!) the higher RPM means your clothes come out quite dry but still need to sun dry. i have a dryer also for rainy day use. but usually after spinning on a normal wash, a few hours sun dry is sufficient. my previous Thomson model has a higher RPM but i don't find the clothes coming out that dry. so i believe it also depends on the other machine specs. hth and happy hunting for your washer! cheers!

hi bullet, you sure know your tiles very well! thanks for sharing! i will take pix of the tiles sitting in my boot tomorrow morning to show side by side comparison.

yes, the three locks and 4 sets of key is $228. so best thing to do (for my case at least) is to buy the lock set first, then go buy gate with the lock set to make sure can fit!
-
just go direct to Homefix! i went to the IMM branch today, it costs $228 for the System 3 (main gate, wooden front door and letterbox) and if u have Homefix VIP card or Ikea Friends Credit Card it's 5% off. installation is separate, they will ask Mr Handyman (their inhouse runner) to quote. my flooring contractor is helping me get this done coz he knows the Duro boss, so i should be able to get a better price.
