Kronotex Or Supreme For Flooring
babyQ replied to jazzblue's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
yeah! 1K each for platform is normal price! my entire MBR is platform. my balcony is curved platform. the children love the platforms... so consider worth it! Bilrich is distributor for Alsafloor, it's made in france. website is here: www.bilrich.com or www.alsafloor.com all the best on yr reno & flooring selection! -
wahh... kitchen in that laminate will be very outstanding! the wardrobe is 11ft and is costs $2.4K... not sure if ex coz my carpenter did whole house carpentry. i think some items are cheaper and some items more ex. i used the same white laminate for my MBR half-height storage. like you i also cannot resist this laminate! saw another home owner (can't remember which t blog) also intending to use this laminate in black for her hubby's wardrobe and white for hers! seems like it is a very popular choice!

wowwww! lovely lovely home u've got there! l looks so good! and you're such a good bargain-hunter! i saw the Self-fix ad in the papers, they are having road-shows at diff locations and selling the soft-closing toilet seat cover for >$50. can consider that if u're not changing yr whole WC so soon! i don't work for them!

is Geylang too far for you? if u're buying lights for the whole house, just factor in the taxi fare as the "discount" u will get for not buying from the expensive shops near you. and can makan there after the light shopping. i know you have kids, so just share the lights i got for my kiddy rooms: both 32W @ $35 each from DK Lighting at Geylang. happy light shopping!

i'm no aircon expert but your model numbers ending with VA looks familiar. i have a similar system installed so am answering your question based on the little that i know for my own aircon. i don't know anything about the SV units. MXY-4A28VA is the outdoor unit model name. System 4 means you can have 4 indoor units + 1 outdoor unit (check this blog for what all the terms mean: singapore-aircon.blogspot.com) MSXY-GA10VA is the indoor unit - 3X just means you will have 3 units of these in 3 bedrooms (same as mine) since you are getting System 4, that means you will have one more indoor unit with a bigger capacity for your living/dining area. so in your case, maybe this will be the MSXY-GA22VA? mine is the MSXY-GA26VA. i paid $3.8K all-in for mine. u can get more info fr the Mit website: http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.sg/produ..._split_inverter

Need Recommendation Of Contractor For Doorbell Changing
babyQ replied to desaturated's topic in Electronics & Electricals
i got the Friedland Big Ben which comes with the dingdong sound for $38 from one of the lighting shops. my electrician wired it up for me. the invoice says $40 for the doorbell point but i think if that's the only thing u r doing, it would probably cost a lot more to factor in transportation, etc. if u have more things to do, can still negotiate for a better price. my experience with the battery type of doorbell is the batteries die real fast! then if u don't replace the batteries, u have a box which doesn't work, so whenever we had visitors ringing the bell, we will be oblivious to it! -
Kronotex Or Supreme For Flooring
babyQ replied to jazzblue's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
thank you phoenix! i my flooring! we paid $6K for it from Bilrich. it will be much less, around $4K if you don't do any platforms. i got two platforms - the one u see in the balcony and one more in the master bedroom. my friend chose the same flooring and it cost her $2K for her 3-room flat. really like the practicality of it and it's very child-friendly - won't hurt when they fall and great for babies learning to crawl. it comes with 25 years warranty. -
is Acetone also thinner? sorry ah... don't ask me to go search dictionary! is this the one need to show IC to buy? hongss, i used thinner to clean away all the paint stains on the floor and grilles. have to rub hard but most of it came off. for the grilles, i would say no need to spend too much time coz after the curtains are up, no one is going to see the tiny paint speckles! but i still waste time and clean, hahha!

i called a few times, they keep asking me to call back and speak to May. but i never get to speak to her, so finally i leave msg and they say she'll call me. but never call back. i think maybe they don't understand what i'm trying to tell them. hehe... their factory near my place, i'm so tempted to just drive there with photos and ask them for the quote! but then they will know i'm desperate and chop ah! last alternative is to leave the glass as it is and keep the dining table permanently at the 8-seater configuration. but will push one side against the wall, that means display 5 chairs only. side track here, is that ok in terms of feng shui? hee... i know u also very well-read in feng shui, so tumpang this thread one shot ask u! thanks Bro!

Robinsons having 20% + 20% + 10% sale at The Bed Shop 12-14 Oct! i went yday and they gave me the discount!

i went to Extreme Lightings when i did my lighting survey/search along Balestier. their prices were the most reasonable compared to the other shops along the lighting stretch. i think the guy who attended to me was Alex. sharp and fast, saw me with my notes and gave me his "best" price without me bargaining. but i finally got all my lights from DK Lighting at Geylang coz i found even better prices there! can't wait to see pix of your done-up place. your dd's bedroom set is a dream....

don't me lah... pardon my poor photography skills. i dunno how to get the white part of the laminate to stand out. but since u know what it looks like, u will have a good idea! here's the pix of how the black and white contrast on our 11ft wardrobe.

Ventilation Exhaust Fan Installation For Toilet ?
babyQ replied to tientien's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Bro, i gave the contact to my friend to call since she is doing reno now too. the uncle (not sure if it's Henry) also told her it's not the 15WHPA model but another model. now she also twiddle dum twiddle dee not sure want to get them to install or not. i think as long as the fan does the job of sucking out the foul air, it should be ok? i am really pleased with my toilet fans (hahhaa! ) the painter came to do touch-up these two days and i turned on the fans and the paint odour actually gets sucked out as well! my installer gave me the KDK 15WHPA brochure, not sure if i should scan the pages and put here for forummers' info. will that be considered advertising for them? heh, i am not working for them hor! no lah.. the installer spent 2+ hours at my place. he really treat my over-priced toilet like his own! quite true... i am always having to PAY $$$ to learn stg until i join renotalk.com! at least i save a lot of $$$ on my curtains thanks to you Bro! -
Bypass $ To The Quality Of Life We All Want?
babyQ replied to Relacker's topic in Men Women Kopitiam Corner!
yes yes... 知足常乐. hmm... pai say to say i have forgotten all my Maslow and Soc Psy theories but does it mean to say after experiencing level 4 and 5, one can then be able to see/feel contentment and be contented? i like the millionaire fisherman in a boat story. he has already been there done that, so he is very contented to "downgrade" to level 3 and be 知足常乐! -
paid $790 to contractor for my tempered glass sliding door from Besglas. i tried calling Besglas but it costs even more to get from them directly! not sure why.
-
i got my ready made velcro tab-top curtain with my son's favourite elephants from Jimmy Textiles at Joo Chiat! $28 for 50" x 66". 3 sets: $84. another set faux silk wahtever frmo John Little $14.90 x 2 (coz i packet one panel only). total curtain costs for 4 rooms : $200 but my balcony windows requires roller blinds or blinds of some sorts and that is going to cost a bomb!

Shirin, ditch the shop. aircon guru blog: http://singapore-aircon.blogspot.com/ this on Inverter vs Non-Inverter http://singapore-aircon-inverter.blogspot.com/ i bypassed all the big names in aircon and got my Mitsubishi Starmex System 4 Inverter for $3.8K from a neighbourhood shop at Hougang. i did not even go down to the shop, just called and got quote over phone (immediately cheaper than maincon's quote a few hundreds). installer is also the boss of the shop. everything done nicely. i am happy.

Ventilation Exhaust Fan Installation For Toilet ?
babyQ replied to tientien's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
ok, the deed is done. this is my precious KDK ventilation fan. precious because i spent $400 to change 2 louvre windows (before reading MaCe $ave Money Blog and all about toilet fans!) and then $700 to install the 2 fans and remove 4 panes of glass which should have cost me no more than $40. total damage for replacing windows and installing fans: $1100 clean, dry, odour-free toilets from henceforth: PRICELE$$ i have to justify that huge bill... Bro MaCe, unfortunately it was too late (or too early) to call Henry this morning. and i totally forgot it's Tuesday and my appointment with the installer was at 10am! soooo.... to cut a long story short, i went ahead getting myself chopped carrot again. but this time it was without a single ounce of regret. the installer is worth every cent i paid. very pro, very careful and treated my over-priced toilet like his own. no extra or unnecessary trunking to my already very full of trunkings toilets. he put the white wires into existing light casing (for MBR toilet) and heater casing (for common toilet). here's the pix: hope reno newbies learn from my expensive and unnecessary spending.... don't change your windows if you are going to install the toilet fan! and go look for Henry and get a cheaper installer. i am sure the quality will be equally good. i am just trying to console myself that the installer was top-notch in his job so he commanded the extra premium in fees. -
hehe... as always, your power lists are going straight into SAVED folder Leen! THANK YOU!

So Angry.. Cheated By Ubi Lighting Warehouse
babyQ replied to mamapea's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Shirin, i hope CASE can help and you can get it resolved asap. it really sucks when these unscrupulous ppl are set on ripping customers off. if u have time, start reading as many threads as u can on renotalk.com so your reno progress goes smoothly from now on! i have benefitted so much from it, otherwise i would have been a classic "chopped carrot". all the best on yr reno! -
that's why sometimes cannot go for lowest quote... really, save $ is important but u see the workmanship, cannot make it and very sim tia also! Mint, are you doing rewiring? or just shifting points? hope u got it sorted out.
