  1. I'm hoping my actual layout will be different. In my layout, the toilet bowl is really far away from the wall. The space between the toilet bowl and the wall will be quite wasted. I am hoping that they fit the bowl closer to the wall, so I'd have more space on the other side.
  2. I have a few ideas, but I need to see the actual toilet to decide. I need to know, where the window will be, how far is the toilet places from the nearest wall, and also how the doors are oriented. but the plan is to get one of those wooden tub, for a bathtub or 'curb'. How deep the bathtub will depend on how much space I have to allow me to fully submerge into the tub. If it is very narrow space, then I'll end up with a deep tub. Climbing in and out will be an issue. So far, in my mind, it might work, but it all depends on the actual space. They haven't even reached my floor yet.
  3. But I really don't like curbs in bathroom, unless it is under a glass partition.
  4. Was thinking of doing that, but the layout of my toilet makes it nearly impossible without sealing up one side. I did think about putting a whole glass partition in front of the bedroom door, enclosing the toilet bowl inside the glass partition and make that he wet area, but making the bedroom door waterproof and hidden. So that way, you have a small enclosed shower area (with toilet bowl, cos in my layout, it is on the side of the bedroom). But you keep the other door available.
  5. Have, in the corner, beside the door. I don't intend to have a curb though. Thinking of putting a small bathtub in there, so all the water stay in the same place, with shower curtain around. The hidden door (on the bedroom side, would be as waterproof as possible to prevent water from getting into the bedroom.
  6. Digging up a post from last year to sell your stuff, is probably the fastest way to make people avoid you. No one trust a spammer
  7. That's why I didn't want to seal up the bathroom door. Instead, I do the hidden door thing, so people won't know the way thru, but it's still convenient for me
  8. The big toilet window is going to be the standard nowadays. What sort of defects did your bi-fold door have? Your layout is very similar to mine, so I also will be camping here to see any updates!
  9. Hi all sorry, been overseas and starting new job, so haven't caught up yet. varying! You move in already! ENVY! Let me go and see what you place looks like!
  10. Wahhhhhhh! Congrats!! I'm still eagerly waiting for my block's progress.... still building lower floors. Mine is top floor, still in the sky.... I'd have thought reno with everyone would be good, so all the dirty and dusty stuff all over around the same time?
  11. And we're on page 9 already! Blimey! In that link, the wall with the bricks and wine bottle, that's the idea I want to have for my toilet door! Yay!
  12. I also had the idea for the secret door! The plan is, for the doorway to be a TARDIS styled bookshelf, and the TARDIS will swing outwards to reveal a door. That's why I didn't include the bedroom door in my OCS. TARDIS: it's a big part of the British sci-fic series Doctor Who. In fact, my place will have a lot of Doctor Who inspired pieces.
  13. The toilet bowl is definitely included, but the basin is one of the OCS, I specifically chose not to have the basin, since I intend to rip it out if it was there. So I am very certain the basin is one of the options.
  14. The bathroom basin is together with the door. So if you chose the door, the bathroom basin is also included. Source: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10321p.nsf/w/BuyingNewFlatDesignFeatures?OpenDocument
  15. Smootree had that telescopic table from the Manhattan flat, cos like $7k.... I was like?!?
  16. Personally, I'd think it is your preference. I am currently using a loft bed, the IKEA loft bed, for about 10+ years. While I love my loft bed, but I did felt a bit tired of climbing up and down. And I also love to watch TV in bed. I currently can't do that, unless I mount my TV very high up. Which means I can't watch it when I am on ground level. Another issue with a loft bed, is that I currently have about 70cm from mattress to ceiling, that is not enough for me to sit up properly. If you lower the height of the bed, their you'll have very cramp space beneath it. The clever idea about multi-purpose furniture is to make it's multi-purpose function not obvious, until it is put into use. But some people think it is too fiddly. I find it a great idea to think around the box. As for movable furniture, the challenge is to find suitable parts for it, and also make it as smooth as possible. If you get the right joint and parts, I dun see any issue of them lasting a long time. The cabinets in my parent's flat have hinges and wheels. Most are still working after many, many years of use. But you are welcome to fill your place with fixed uni-functional furniture.. It's your place after all.
  17. The detailed mechanism for the bed is still undergoing different iterations. I am sort of engineering trained, so I have an idea on the stress and forces on the designs. Basically, for the hiddenbed design, you do not need to order the bed from the Hiddenbed company, because that bed will rather difficult to customise. I found a company in the US that sells the mechanical parts. Hafele Singapore also sells it, though at about 3 times the price. Still thinking if I want to get from them (because the Hafele one has 10 years warrnty, I think). You can get the mechanism, get your carpenter to fix it for you, then you can design the bed to your heart' content.
  18. mmoh: The original idea came from the Manhattan flat But I didn't like the idea of the track on the ground. Dirt will get into it, and I also don't like the feeling on stepping on those in the night. So while brainstorming ideas, I found this Where the cabinets hang from the ceiling. So the plan is to try and design it such that it will hang from the beams.
  19. http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z0d.6639537.1997196601.351.HOkwOH&id=39915000062 I have been checking out wooden bathtubs like this one, and they weight about 55kg, which fits it well within the range of 150kg max weight.
  20. Bedroom mock up This is a mockup I did a long while ago. I meant to do this for my bedroom. URGH, for some reason, I just can't paste the link in? FINALLY, managed to do it!
  21. Back to the hiddenbed, personally, I prefer the Hiddenbed design to the HWB design, because the hiddenbed allow you to have a desk when the bed is up. I did think the PD doors is rather expensive for a door. I opt for the floor tiles but not the doors or bathroom sink, because I know exactly how I want to renovate, and the door doesn't fit into my plans. But I did think about having concrete screed instead. easy to maintain and now worry about crack tiles.
  22. Yoz, regarding the bathtub, I am looking at the wooden ones on Taobao. They have customised bathtub sizes, from 1.2m to 1.6m. Should be able to find something that fits.
  23. 2Roomer, my kitchen is not really that big enough to have a fliptable by the window, though I am thinking of using swing out tables, like the one in Hafele facebook page, where the counter surface can be pulled out until it is perpendicular to the counter. thinking of using that to create an island in the kitchen, but swings back when not required. Also thinking how I can squeeze a breakfast corner into the kitchen. For now, everything is just castles in the air, cos my flat has not even reached my floor yet.
  24. Hahahahah... no I'm not getting anything yet. But I just went around looking, to see what I'd like to have (meaing the features I feel are what I want, and what features I can do without). I did go to Ikea to try and brainstorm about space-saving idea.
  25. Wahhhh... How can they drop a fridge?!?! Also looking at the TV, so many choices! Has anyone gone to Ikea? I went there a week ago. They have this oven, hob and hood combo, going for like $1k. It looks like a pretty good offer, but I dunno if the hob and hood that comes with it is good or not.
