  2. warrior88 aircon sizing is quite there. its a std config but as you require a bigger load for the bigger area that is why you require 12000btu. for kst, maybe u can try a system 3 (for rooms) + system 1 (for dining & living rm)? the system 1 is a bigger one to cool the dinning and living rm as its quite big. my advice is fax your floor plan to various air-con installers for their calculations/sizing and ask for a quote via fax/email 1st. if you dun mind the brands, you can try toshiba. the following are a lists of air-con retailers that you can try calling them and faxing them your floor plan for sizing caln and quotation. you can also ask them for advice on what is the best combination. 1) national climate change committee this is website for your infor on air-con http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/checklist.shtm 2) toshiba http://www.toshiba.com.sg/HA/Content/Categ...dc503f2ef404802 3) LG a) http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/lge.shtm b) http://sg.lge.com/support/dealerList_north.jsp#aircon 3) mitsubishi heavy industries http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/mitsubi...industries.shtm 4) sharp http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/sharp.shtm 5) fujitsu http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/fujitsu.shtm 6) general http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/general.shtm 7) mcquay http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/mcquay.shtm 8) panasonic a) http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/panasonic.shtm b) http://panasonic.com.sg/web/Contents/MainCont.asp?ContId=112 9) hitachi http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/hitachi.shtm 10) daikin http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/daikin.shtm 11) mitsubishi electric http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/mitsubishielectric.shtm 12) samsung http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel/samsung.shtm air-con retailers cum installers 1) coolserve http://www.coolserve.com.sg/htmdocs/coolAd...visor.asp?id=10 2) best tech http://www.besttechaircon.com/ 3) Etronin Air-Conditioners & Electric Blk 633 Veerasamy Road #01-128 Singapore 200633 Tel: 62948931 4) hong tar http://www.hongtar.com.sg/ air-con certified installers: www.bca.gov.sg/academy/Trained_Installers.aspx hope the above infor helps.

  5. hi gladysbeyond, thanks for your feedback. i hv already bought a La Germania standing cooker cum oven. some ppl says its old pattern, no gd etc. etc. but i like it coz of the following reasons... 1) the hob is concealed type. from many experienced aunties' advice, conceal type is better if you cook alot becoz soups or cook stuffs may overflow and drip onto the hobs. and it may be difficult to clean if your hob is those that are exposed types. you can easily scoop up or wipe away any thing that is deposited there due to cooking, or any other dirt. exposed type may allow cook stuffs and other dirt to drip or drop into the hob through the holes. concealed type: after you remove all the removable parts of the cooking top, there is a welded in cup sort of pattern. this is the concealed type. exposed type: after you remove all the removable parts of the cooking top, there are exposed holes. many sellers will tell you got holes are better coz fire burn better, can control the fire volume (eg. there may be 3 rings of fire, eg. big, medium or small whereby big = 3 rings of fire activated, medium = 2 rings of fire activated - the outer and middle ring, small = 1 centre small ring of fire activated) 2) the oven generally can cook up quite a few dishes and the functions are sufficient enough for novice cookers. for professional cook, you may want a separate oven type from Bosch, Electrolux, Brandt, De Dietrich or Miele which have more functions but price may range from S$3K onwards!!! 3) thirdly, i got it for a price of S$1238 for the big stainless one, with a free cleaning stick during the promotion at citygas gallery. !! and hopefully, i am able to use it to make kuehs, cakes, and many other dishes... You may want to read up the threads below on one of the forumer's comment on oven. http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/...html?1188663249 http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/...html?1158332820 "Bosch ovens are good but expensive. brandt offers value for money. electrolux isnt that too bad but just that the price jump between models is like brandt also jump very high. de dietrich is best bet but prices also wah seh.. miele is fantastic too but price-- killer.ariston --- err nay i will give it a skip, indesit not even in my shortlist" hope the above helps ppl here who want to buy oven and hob.
  6. hi, weileong and mace is correct in stating their views. generally the storage heater tank will preserve the heat within the tank for abt 2 days. and from experience users, normally, you on the power, go take your towel, clothes for changing, hang them in toilet, close your toilet door, the water is warm enough already. you do not really need to wait for 10-20minutes as from heresay. normally recommended, a 25L storage heater for a 5rm flat is more than sufficient. eg. a person drinks 3l of water per day, this will last for 1 week. and storage heater purpose is to store water and heat it up for usage, it will be replenish frequently so it should be more than enough for use for whole household. and also pls do reminded to save our earth by using a suitable tank size as it will mean saving energy needed to heat up a bigger tank of water. generally, a 25L tank will be sufficient for a 5rm flat. if yours is a private landed house, then its best to check with your plumber or renovation contractor and not your ID. these ppl are more experience and able to do a correct sizing/calculations. if there are still further doubt, do contact the mfgr office directly for clarifications. ariston: Merioni TermoSanitari Pte Ltd 39 Robinson Road #09-04 Robinson Point Singapore 068911 Tel: 6226 0292 Fax: 6226 0316 http://www.mtsgroup.com Joven Electric (S) Pte Ltd No. 10 Ubi Crescent # 02 – 18 Ubi Techpark Lobby B Singapore 408564 Tel: (65) 62833181, 67493772, 67496421 Fax: (65) 67493575 http://www.jovenelectric.com http://www.joven-electric.com/default.asp water from storage heater can be use for washing areas instead of using for bathing only. the only initial cost is to install hot and cold water piping all around the whole which your plumber guy will be able to estimate a cost for it. whether it should be horizontal or vertical, it depend on the space that is available at your hm. installation of heater itself is generally charge at S$80. copper piping depend on the mkt rate and the length that is require to run to the designated point. citygas free instant heater runs on gas and must be install at kitchen or expose area. enclosed area is not allowed due to safety reasons. and of coz, running on gas is cheaper than electricity. for prices of storage heaters, ariston and joven are comparable and competitive in pricing. ariston is from italy and joven is from malaysia. but for ariston, place of manufacture may not be place of assemble. the general pricing of storage heater are: ariston 30L - range from S$225 - S$240 joven 35L - range from S$235 - S$250 joven 25L - range from S$220 - S$240 above prices gather from: - universal union @ geylang Lor 44 - goh ah bee @ kovan city (near kovan mrt) - poh joo @ jln besar - hoe kee @ no. 8 genting lane (HQ) / jln berseh branch warranty: - ariston: 4 years warranty for tank against leakage; 1 year warranty for electronic parts - joven: 10 years warranty for tank against leakage i wish to state that the above information is just for purely information gather from users and advice given by sellers and users and by no way represent any legal implications to me or whatsoever. it is purely for information purpose only and does not represent my view or manipulations of others' views. hope the above helps. for more information for instant heater and storage heater, you may want to read up on the following threads: http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/...html?1189038400 http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/...html?1189037853

  12. applefreak, u r rite. depend on wat one wants and the budget. my 2 cents worth... kitchen and sanitary wares~ Hoe kee they hv temper glass shelves ranging from corner type to those fixed under the mirror type. they hv alot of variety at No. 9 Genting Road (their main warehouse/office/showroom, for the address, double check the yellow page) at reasonable pricing. for temper glass shelves, prices start from S$40 onwards. it comes in various sizes. for stainless steel item, it prices are from S$13 onwards depending on type. do take note and always ask if the railings and fixtures on the shelf, the hook etc. are chrome steel or plastic becoz chrome steel are certainly more durable. i find theirs is a gd price and they are able to give a better discount if you buy more. Poh Joo they hv limited variety of shelves and are of smaller sizes. but they do hv cheaper hob & hood but do ask where they are assemble at, eg. China, Vietnam, Indonesia or Malaysia, etc. Royal Franco their prices are abit ex compare to the above 2. For anyother place, for hob & hood, do always where they are assemble from juz to let yourself hv a clearer pic so that you can make your choice. Goh Ah Bee at hougang / kovan city / kovan mrt they are old shops so they dun try to cheat you. they hv cheaper hob & hood compare to other shops out there. they dun hv enough place to display out their things but you can ask them alot of questions abt their things and you will find they carry a wide variety of items. the boss son is the most friendly and patient person who will answer your questions even if you didnt buy from them. Universal Union at Geylang Lor 44 they hv a wide variety of hob & hood, sanitary and kitchen wares at reasonable prices. can provide discount also. Kitchen wares teka, etc. hobs & hoods Fujioh Turbo Techno Rinnai La Germania Cuizino etc. Sanitary wares they carry different brands ranging from Gohne, Ariston, Genova (Arino range) etc. For rainshower, taps etc. where you see the brand Genova / Arino, you can check them out Genova HQ at bendemeer road. i saw alot of the shops carry this brand and i think you can view a full range at their HQ and compare their prices before buying from outside shops coz sometimes they may be having sales. http://www.genova.com.sg 58 Bendemeer Road Singapore 339937 Tel : (65) 6299 0222 (5 Lines) Fax : (65) 6296 4831 Email:genova@singnet.com.sg watever items you hv chosen, you can try asking if they can give a gd discount. their items are made in China, similar design as those Gohne (UK) type except they are much cheaper. and of coz, all still come back to wat you want and wat is your budget. hope the above infor helps
  13. wow den that's gd news hmmm.... HDB got many different pattern of doing things for me, we r taking it slow and steady (not too slow la, must meet deadline... ) coz we still not that kan cheong yet
  14. oic. but why candyprincess and albert different procedure from us leh? still confused... ya, i agree. some units the condition like super jialat. duno why oso some of those repurchased units that were renovated, i think the guz from showflat told us that during that time, many booked or purchased the flats but juz nice happen to crash with economic downturn (something like that) and many owners couldn't cont'd to afford to pay for their units so some either give up and sell back to HDB or some do downgrade exchange with HDB. heard that they must hv real geniune reasons, eg. lost of jobs, etc. and went thru tedious process b4 HDB agree to that. heard some even go to MPs for help. really sympathise with them lor !! !! den, angelwrath, u started yr reno oredy?
  15. oic. but i tink for those blks 468 r different. we were told to collect keys on 2nd appt, go inspect for defects, den submit these defect lists, and HDB will arrange their contractor to rectify them. we used carpet combing method to inspect the whole hse and i tink we are lucky. no crack tiles at all, no crack plastering etc. but also no chance to get them to re-tile lor... i tink that's why i got my keys faster den u guz. if hdb say must re-tile, did any of you guz go down and try to peep at those empty units thru windows? or maybe some of the units had started rectification works, you guz ever go peep at those units and see how bad it had become that HDB need to re-tile? juz curious.... for us, b4 we shortlisted out the units that we want, we went there for abt 10times at different timings, look at ventilation, sun direction, noise, etc. and go back hm and start to do up our hmwk on the pros and cons of the different blks and the different units. we oso go peep at neighbours' hses, interview them etc. they are all so helpful and vy excited coz they said that area too many vacancy thus too quiet. and if our batch moves in, they will hv more friends and the place wunt be so ulu liao how did you guz choose your unit? any tips or favorites? wat do you look for? mostly want to be near mrt area from what i gather.
  16. under wat condition that the tiles need re-tiling? does that mean every unit need re-tiling? or did u guz had already inspected the units and HDB agree to re-tile? or is it HDB inform u guz, after u guz had selected your units but not yet inspected, that they need to re-tile these units? i'm still confused over this. coz our procedures is that we get the keys, inspect the whole unit, submit our defect list or complains and HDB will rectify it. and so far, we are so lucky that we don't hv major defects.
  17. hi, anyone using this brand of hob or standing cooker (where there is a hob on top and a oven below)? anyone has any experience with this brand that you like to share? and any other comparable good ones? me tot of getting one such type but have to ask around before buying.
  18. btw, guz, can i know what tiles are used for our sembawang hse? from the brochure, its state ceramic tiles. r all the tiles in the whole hse the same, using ceramic? eg. floor tiles for living rm, bedrm, balcony, kitchen, toilets? wall tiles for kitchen and toilets? anyone know abt this?
  19. oic. yours vy near mrt rite? mine is 468 dat side. why they delay in giving you the keys? your flat is already those ready type rite?
  20. these price quoted by 1 of the air-con installer lor.. toshiba: - system 3, inverter: ard S$2.7k - system 3, non-inverter: ard S$2.5k mitsubishi - system 3, inverter: ard S$2.5k - system 3, non-inverter: ard S$2.3k another 1 quoted this: toshiba: - system 3, inverter: ard S$2.6k - system 3, non-inverter: ard S$1.9k in the mkt, ME is cheaper. but like any air-con seller in the mkt, all sales & service teams or installation team of theirs (so called their own), are usually their in-hse contractor, not their own team coz too costly to maintain own team. or even if they do, their strength is relatively small. but many gd feedback on use of ME system. depend on wat you getting for wat use lor. if for office vrv, daikin better. if for major chillers, there are york, carrier, trane etc. must see these brands excel in which area. but of coz no 100% guarantee that the best brand works without problm. sometime, one can be so 'lucky' and get prblm often.
  21. ya, agree with you. for inverter, best to use is class 0. cu pipe should be gauge 18 coz due to those new type of gases, so call environment friendly but not friendly to cu pipe as they causes vy vy vy tiny pin size holes which r invisible to the eye and in long term of usage will causes leakage. drainage pipe normally use 16mm pvc so not much the air-con contractor can save from pvc pipe. but even if 1 contractor do all these, its hard to measure by another contractor coz it all depend on your contractor's integrity. but dunno how many got integrity nowadays
  22. albert, dun be worry, its juz sooner or later. btw, which blk you bk?
  23. kayser, no worry for me. my hb is mech re. he know the technical portion, material type and installation method vy well. tink he will be the supervisor once our hm reno start. for me, i am his supervisor hahahahahhahaa.... ya lor... wallet hv to be strong but i dun compromise functionality with asthetic, so i will hunt around for best bargain for best functional, practical products rather than those look gd but practically not useful items
