My 4 room HDB BTO is coming soon and I intend to manage my own reno - ie. work directly with painter, carpenter, electrician, etc... But I have zero and no understanding about reno. What should I do and how to start? I am contemplating to find an ID to help me but I am afraid of being rip off since I do not want too fanciful things.

As I am going to manage the house reno on my own, may I ask for some reliable and good contacts for contractors, painters, electricians...? Anything to look out for?
